Generally don't expect anything from the quinsberry library action but getting a bit of goodwill from the halflings. And maybe some awesome pie recipes.
Pie recipes are Esmeralda's thing more than Quinsberry's, but I assume there are a few holy cookbooks of Esmerald lying around in there.

There are a few noteworthy Halfling books that I can remember. The Halfling Cookbook is the only remnant of the "Halfling Wars" between Halflings and Ogres, and it boosts a Butcher's ability to deal with the backlash of the Lore of the Great Maw. Bimbo's Book of Sage Advice is a book made by the infamous Bimbo Baggins of the "Comradeship".

Aside from that it's the usual lineage charts.

Uhh...From context I'm pretty sure that's a book about cooking halflings, not a book about cooking written by halflings.
So we should probably be careful about letting the locals see it if we get a copy. But seriously if ogres do write books we should try and get our hands on them, if they can be hired as mercenaries surely they'd be willing to trade/sell books too.

I get the impression most Ogres are not great on the literacy scale, or really interested in penmanship.

Since Quinsberry seems to be the Halfling counterpart to Verena both cults should eventually get invited so whoever gets first doesn't really seem significant.

Well that knowledge still has some niche application.

Mountains of Mourne Ogres don't read or write, aside from Grumbarth (pictographic). They have no reason to. They do have a system of writing, but they do so by painting on walls or daubing as war paint. They use pictograms and symbols to convey concepts that are largely understandable to them as a culture/society. A mountain represents toughness and strength. Gnoblars represent slaves. Coming of the Maw represents fear. This is all described in 6th Edition.

They don't make books. They make sick paintings though.

As it's said his main priorities are tradition and ancestry, he might have gained a small knowledge part in the later books but setting him on the same platform as Verena is like saying Harold the God of woolsocks, carpets and accidental static discharges is pretty much the same a Zeus or Thor. Doesn't really work.

Mathilde thought him important enough to embed into the bedrock of the library if we picked the holy option. She's the one who originally put him on the same platform as Verena:
[ ] Holy
Most libraries are dedicated to one God or another, so why not follow the trend? Carve dedications to Verena, Valaya, Quinsberry, and Hoeth into the very bedrock alongside subtle nods to Ranald, and make allowances for large public shrines to the more acceptable Gods.

She also put Valaya in there despite her domain and focus being incredibly tangential to libraries and books. She wanted to represent each of the major races of Order, so she picked one of each.

Approval voting another plan just to keep Verenans out of the narrative for longer.

Going for Verena over Quinsberry seems OOC to me.

Consider: we probably know and like halflings, they live here, and our girlfriend works closely with them. One of the things we know is they are touchy about being treated like little humans instead of their own species, and this is how the Lodge recruits and what it defends against.

We know this, and the thread is choosing to treat the halflings as a minor afterthought.

Also, we DON'T know the venerians. Our book buying has been through dwarves, our library exposure through the colleges, and Mathilde had never had any onscreen contact with anyone identified as a Verenian.

So the thread "knowing" all this stuff about Verenians strikes me as OOC. And it is also OOC to me for Mathilde to reach out to complete strangers before pulling on the people she knows personally.

Our only 'in quest' experience has been Mathilde's resentment over the marianberg library being closed to her.

So. Quinsberry is a better choice to sign with Mathilde.

Given how long it took us to dedicate a social action to the halflings I think treating them as an afterthought is entirely in character. Now one can argue that it is wrong to do so, but we have not really shown much of an interest in halflings beyond 'those people who play with wolf and work with Panorania'.

🤷‍♀️ I'd also like to approach the Valayans at some point too. I trust that if Mathilde thought those four were that important they will all be worth including in the library. Hoeth I'll admit will be tricky but maybe if the waystone project goes well enough and shows it is worth working with the Eonir to the dwarves we could pull it off.

Also we want to build the bestest library there ever was and with that goal in mind there is no way around the Verenans. If we don't talk with them we might at one point find a secret knight chapter hiding between the Halfling gods section and Theoretical botany.

Given how long it took us to dedicate a social action to the halflings I think treating them as an afterthought is entirely in character. Now one can argue that it is wrong to do so, but we have not really shown much of an interest in halflings beyond 'those people who play with wolf and work with Panorania'.

But we have even less connection with, awareness of, or reason to like the Verenians. And we've also learned that we should not take halflings for granted

I like the Halflings and want to include them, but I don't like the fact that you're framing our choice as treating them as an afterthought. Verena is dedicated to Libraries in a way that very few other factions can ever claim to be. The only reason Mathilde arranges books by subject instead of by author is because of all the work they put in:
In an age before search engines it takes a lot of effort and ingenuity to make information actually accessible, and if it weren't for many centuries of Verenans grinding the library science tech tree Mathilde would probably be sorting her books by author instead of subject.
I do want to get Halflings involved. I see no reason why we have to do so before the faction who is entirely and completely dedicated to books, libraries and knowledge.

We do have a full piety trait for the Pantheon that includes Verena. That is more than you can say for any halfling god.

Old World Pantheon (Southern): Having grown up in Stirland and then Altdorf, you've known of the more civilized Gods of the Old World for most of your life: Morr, Verena, Myrmidia, Shallya, and Ranald. You also know of the minor Gods of the southern provinces.
