Variations on the above argument contributed to immense tangles of historic law and judges trying to figure out the the "correct" price range of objects and how much of a markup should be legal for transported goods, which in turn rapidly bogged down in trying to count all the different tariffs and tolls on a long route. Peasants would accuse high-priced merchants of gouging, while high-priced merchants would accuse lower-priced competitors of smuggling and tax evasion. :eyebrow:
 
I'm still really not seeing the supposed trouble with admitting either trauma or grief. Both are acceptable explanations for a lapse in judgement years ago. Reiner Starke doesn't personally care about the reason; if he does, well, what's it to him? If this a to have a coherent answer to outside inquiries about us, well, the Grey Order is certain to frame their answer to show their newest Lady Magister in the best possible light.

Admitting grief is not tantamount to allowing tawdry rumormongering about a salacious affair, it's admitting that we admired and were mentored by Van Hal.

Admitting trauma is not tantamount to having others question our judgement or our fitness to lead or judging us for weakness, it's allowing that we were young and Van Hal died right alongside us and that shook a young journeywoman.

Therefore:

Well, guess I'll approval vote Trauma, since I prefer it to grief.

[X] You wanted to reform the watch into a more intrigue focused organization, but your steps had fierce opposition in the watch. You thought attempting to bring the worship of Ranald into the watch will give you a pretext to remove those most opposed to your changes from the organization. It wasn't a very good idea, but you went through with it because you worried Stirland was especially vulnerable in the wake of Abelhelm's death, so you rushed things.

I would totally vote Faith, with an addendum to steal Starke's coin purse as he gapes at our brazen confession. But it doesn't actually feel right for me personally as fueled by the power of hindsight so I went with Grief. Possibly with an invisitext addendum to steal his coin purse the moment he lets his guard down.
