I'm wondering if we still get to keep the Loremaster and Court Wizard of K8P titles or if they're going to turn into former titles? I'm pretty sure we keep Thane though.
There's the 'Dwarves don't believe in temporary titles' thing.
As a title accumulation fan, I (also) hope we retain Loremaster- like Thane- we'd just not be 'Loremaster of Karak Eight Peaks' anymore.

For Plans, I'd like the efficiency of a WEB-MAT combo, such as

[ ] MAX: Receive dictation: specify which. Must be taken with a 'dictate' action.
[ ] JOHANN: Have Johann spend time getting to know Kadoh, who has expressed an interest in meeting the 'fist metal-Mage'.
[ ] WEB-MAT: Attempt to recruit someone to WEB-MAT (Hugo Bann: Enchanter.)

To which you could add say...

[ ] Furnish the living spaces of the Waystone Project HQ (specify how much: 100gc for adequate, 200gc for comfortable, 300gc+ for nice (no cap on how much can be spent, because Elves)) (Overwork)
[ ] Immerse yourself in the culture of the 'Cityborn' Toriour inhabitants of Tor Lithanel
[ ] Immerse yourself in the culture of the 'Forestborn' Faniour inhabitants of the woods surrounding Tor Lithanel
[ ] Dictate papers: select which two, must be taken with Max's 'receive dictation'.
[ ] EIC: Have a blackpowder factory built in Wurtbad.

Or, wait on establishing furnishings until we've immersed ourself in the local culture.
Self Improvement is more interesting for me to read than AV research actions, so I'm thinking something like Arcane Mark control or Pall of Darkness seeing.

This reminds me, I find it funny how the "Loremaster" misunderstanding came about this update. It felt so natural for it to occur, because Mathilde comes in looking all muscular compared to an Elf, and when he sees her summon a sword from nowhere, of course his first thought is that she's a Loremaster!

I hope he never figures out that that's not quite correct in the technical sense.

Mathilde did agree that she was a Loremaster, even though her employment as the Eight Peaks councilor has ended. I believe the title also referred to an outright profession that she—by dint of having held the councilor position for a while—still technically qualifies for? Kinda like being granted a doctorate despite never having the formal education for doing work on that level in a competent and long-term manner.

I only really pieced that together by inference. Are (presumably?) Teclis style traditional Hoeth High Mages the Loremasters who are capable of summoning swords out of thin air? Or at least expected to be capable of that sort of thing without it provoking more than a shrug?

The Tower of Hoeth doesn't only produce Mages and Archmages, it also produces Loremasters. These guys are highly specialised mage-scholars who don't need to learn all 8 Winds and start using Qhaysh/High Magic, they use Magic to fit a particular paradigm falling within their scholarly sphere. A group from the White Tower are known as Swordmasters of Hoeth, who specialise in swordsmanship and sword magic. They're unbelievably deadly with the blade.

They also specialise in greatswords I believe. So powerful wizard + bigass sword = she must be a Loremaster, and the best part of this assumption is that it isn't even completely wrong. Mathilde might not be descended from the traditions of Hoeth, but she's arrived at a similar point via a very different route.

Mathilde may superficially resemble the Loremasters of Hoeth, but I do not think she would really serve the function of one, no high magic and in fact missing 7 of 8 winds. I do no think we can make up for that with Ulgu alone. I think she would be more like one of the Shadow Warriors.

Your average Loremaster doesn't use High Magic:
They don't have a single monolithic magical tradition. What you seem to be thinking of as the 'standard' Elven magic-user is actually a product of Saphery's foremost tradition, but alongside their Mages and Archmages they also produce Loremasters, magic-users who seek enlightenment within the framework of the Winds, not High Magic.

From what I understand Loremasters of Hoeth are basically the elf version of magic PhD.

The swordmasters are from what I understand an order of sword users who serve as guards for the Tower, with most members not being quite accomplished enough to be a Loremaster.

Whilst Loremasters may typically have mastered more than 1 wind their defining attribute isn't mastering High Magic but being exceedingly good at something - which might very well be the usage of a single Wind.

On the topic of loremasters of Hoeth, there is a bit of contradiction going on due to changes introduced in IIRC 8th edition army book. Before it, it was some sort of title for Mages or something like that. In 8th they introduced a new hero choice for HE called Lore master of Hoeth which has the same gear as Swordmasters ( heavy armor +big sword)but can also use magic. Except thst instead of the normal way of generating spells ( pick a lore, get spells equal to wizard level) they get 1 most vasic spell from each of 8 wind lores. In this case the himbo clearly references the second definition cause regular mages are pretty weak in melee.

IIRC BoneyM said something about loremaster being the kind of person to immerse themselves in single wind for three centuries and construct a spell to lift island out of water.

Vote is now open, in the interest of Mathilde actually finally using her windherder trait I shall throw my hat into the ring:

[x] Plan Windherding: Crawl now, Run next turn
-[x] JOHANN: Have Johann spend time getting to know Kadoh, who has expressed an interest in meeting the 'fist metal-Mage'.
-[x] EGRIMM: Work with him using windherding to combine Dazzle and Bewilder in a spell combo.
-[x] WEB-MAT: Attempt to recruit someone to WEB-MAT (Bright Magister Hugo Bann)
-[x] Attempt to bring a Karak's Runesmiths into the Waystone Project (Karak Azul)
--[x] COIN: The Gambler
-[x] Furnish the living spaces of the Waystone Project HQ (600gc)
-[x] Immerse yourself in the culture of the 'Cityborn' Toriour inhabitants of Tor Lithanel
-[x] Investigate how the Vitae reacts with Divine Magic.
-[x] EIC: Have a blackpowder factory built in Wurtbad.
-[x] SERENITY: Observations of Karag Dum and its unusual guardian

As I noted when I proposed it, this plan is like Redshirt's plan but it swaps out the forestborn culture for 2 WEB-MAT actions designed to help with windherding while also settling in Egrimm without just ignoring him and hopefully picking up another major talent. First up we practice a simple spell combo with Egrimm, this should be easier than trying for an enchantment combo for our first windherding action, give Mathilde experience teaching windherding and give Egrimm experience doing it with Mathilde so we can do super cool light and shadow best buds Mathilde and Egrimm combos later on. Second up we try and recruit probably the best enchanter we know, this gives us access to Bright College enchanting expertise for waystones and gives us a skilled enchanter on hand to try windherding enchantments with without having to spend CF or rely on one of our current underlings taking a course in enchanting which would still probably leave them underskilled for the potential dangers of winderherding.

300 gc is more than enough spent on the living space.

That's going to be a thing with us, isn't it? Just... outdoing diplomatic efforts with every species we can find. Despite, you know, diplomacy being Mathilde's weakest skill. I like it.
The joke here is that Boris Todbringer is not what you'd call a traditionally diplomatic person.

I suppose he's just bonded with a number of Eonir over their shared hatred of Beastmen.

And this is young Boris, who hasn't gotten his eye gouged out by Khazrak, so he isn't even anywhere close to the peak levels of hating Beastmen that he's capable of.
