For those using illusions in their plans, you should also make sure to block it from smelling too. Either illusions or flamethrowers, probably. Bears' best sense is smell, so we need to block it along with sight/sound.

I actually am. I already gave you guys a dragon daughter, airships and an Anti-magic Metal, a pet Kaiju would be too much.
eh, Up to now the pet daughter didn't do THAT much, mechanically speaking, except some extra goodwill from Neighpon/Koryu.

Sure, Long Term having a dragon reagent will be VERY good. It's nearly as good as having an alicorn princess, except we also get new kings/queens adopting new customs, technologies and ideas, with the stability option being the backup in case something goes wrong.

...in a way we're taking the best aspects of Celestia's rule, while hopefully avoiding cultural stagnation...

...where was I? Oh, yes!

Are you really really sure we can't have a pet Kaiju? It would likely be in hibernation most of the time anyway!

We could likely blind the bear if we focus our fire on it's face, maybe even scare it off doing so. I don't think death of a thousand cuts is gonna work on this thing unless we go for it's tendons and neck reminiscent of attack on titan. Otherwise were sending our best to their likely doom as its still a giant bear that can crush them like a grape armor or not.

Mmm maybe instead of a physical illusion an auditory one instead to mimic other Ursa Major's to fool it after blinding it it'd give it second thoughts if it thought there were more than one in the area?

[X] Plan: "Actually, you see shit."

Welp, this plan seems better than the sleep one while avoiding the issues of retreat in the Scatter one, so I'm switching my votes now.

A large bear that resembles the stars.
We're gonna need a lot of cannons and well-forged shot.
Let us see if a mythical creature can stand against the might of mortal arms...
And the determination and tenacity of our great people!

EDIT:
I have made up my mind.
I approve this plan.

I'm happy, at the very least, my write-in got some votes.

Regardless, I hope the dice aren't too big of Godzilla fans to roll us low just to get fucked like we were the JSDF.

@Questor I'd like to apply my +20 from the encyclopedia entry on Gryphus to the fight with the Ursa. Also was my +15 used in the last battle or do I still have it? I remember asking to use it in the first Maretonia battle

[ ] Write-In, Quickly!
Is this even a question? Just send Hardbeak and the Blackwatch...Is that a joke or not? I leave that to you.

(Hardbeak, the Kingslayer, The Dragon Slayer, The Undead Slayer, and now, the Star Slayer)

EDIT: Actually...what are the chances of this just being a part of Pegicles' pan? The Ursa's only work is to maintain everyone busy, if he kills people that's just a plus, Pegicles' main objective is to send an assassin during the chaos to kill us. Crazy, I know, but the guy creates very good plans overall.

You still have it. I tend to not use the Omake bonuses if they are not needed to gain a success.

@Questor I would like to add my +15 from my Render Unto Haygle omake to whatever rolls we need to make.

Noted. Thank you.

[X] Plan: "Actually, you see shit."
-[X] If possible, stick a sensory deprivation illusions or other hazards upon the Ursa Major. The intention is to confuse its senses or outright blanket them. It doesn't matter if it realizes that the world outside isn't actually a black void, if it still continues to see the world as that black void, with cacophony of noise coming from all directions and completely contradictory smells to further make a mess of its directional sense and detection. Or if its eyes are covered by suddenly appearing tarps or sticky (and maybe burning) tar. This, in effect, should allow our troops better chances to combat the giant.
-[X]If the latter isn't possible, then Merlin and subsequent mages are to try to slow the movements of the bear, like breaking the ground under its feet, or to lob fireballs and other such spells at it to bring damage.
-[X] Our knights are needed at the front, with some of our normal ranged troops to act as additional bulk and diversions. Their goal is to keep the beast away from our artillery and to attack the bear from all sides with their weapons that should damage the clearly magical beast.
-[X]Artillery will reorient and start firing upon the beast, with flamethrowers acting as a hopeful deterrent for the bear in case it gets close. If effective, they shall continue firing, hopefully aiming upon center mass of the giant without hitting our own troops. If artillery seems ineffective, they shall retreat, allowing greater surround by the knights.

If I may possible get you interested to change plans?

Plan Scatter expects us to retreat our artillery in fast space during combat as well as expecting to reorient them to some triangle formation while keeping the army away from the ursa major, giving it time to charge. It also expects us to keep the Knights away from the Ursa until they can attack from behind, which would mean (on a battlefield perspective) a lot of time for the bear to gain momentum. Finally the magic users are left with nothing much protecting them as bait against a colossus that can move incredibly fast and can make wide-ranged movements.

Plan Go the Buck Sleep expects us to be able to either pacify the bear using magic for it to go to sleep or otherwise calming a magic-resisting superpredator on a warpath, or to manage distracting the bear using what to it might just feel like pinprick pokes of Arbalests. The rest of the army tries to retreat, including all of the artillery but this time without firing a shot. There are also no plans on what to do if the bear just bullrushes our lines directly before any great pacification magic can be cast, ignoring the arbalests.

My plans (Quoted above) has us use all of our assets best assets - Mages, knights and artillery - without leaning on one of the three as the lynchpin of the plan. Would you be willing to change your votes, considering these points?
