I'm sorta confused, I thought wizards can't have money. So wouldn't she lose her ability to inherit the EIC? Or are we going to find loopholes to make this possible?

Greys have a "vow of poverty" that mainly exists to prevent them abusing their magic and taking bribes for personal profit; it doesn't actually ban them from making and spending money, so long as they can justify it as being "good for the empire". Mathide uses this loophole to justify owning the EIC, and Eike can use the same loophole for the same reason.

Amethysts have to give up their worldly possessions, including inheritances, when they join the order, but can keep whatever they earn afterwards.

All over orders do not prevent wizards from engaging in trade, commerce and business ownership.

Journeymen and Magisters of all orders owe a tithe to their collage—one coin in ten for Journeymen and one in twenty for Magisters. Lord Magisters are exempt from this tithe, although it's usually considered polite to donate something when you come into an unexpected windfall.

(We stole money from the treasury of the spymaster of Stirland to pay both this and our student loans off when we were a journeywoman. This was made easier by being both the spymaster of Stirland and the spymaster's treasurer.)

Much as I really do want grey order to win, please also vote for giving Eike a Choice? At the very least, I'd like for her not to be swayed over entirely to one side, and making sure she knows that she can turn us down if she wishes helps make sure that we're not going to force her into something she actively dislikes.

I do not believe she is in the headspace to make a choice for herself. She would most likely just choose what she thought was expected of her.

Is the vote function a bit screwy today for the sub-votes?

I thought that Mathilde's loophole was that she wasn't receiving any profits from the EIC because her share was going back into the company to pay off the founding costs?

We have been getting profits for a while now and Regimand has been getting profits from all those inns and taverns. The Oath of Poverty leaks like a sieve and that is because poverty is not the point, a lack of corruption is. Honest business turned to the good of the Empire is fine

I'm coming in hard on this one, for a very simple reason. Namely, how well-suited a Wizard is to their Wind has a HUGE impact on how successful and even how happy they're going to be. Look at how Hubert has struggled with being a Celestial, if you need an example. We don't know Eike well enough to judge that for her, and Wilhelmina is too prescriptive in her plans for Eike for me to trust she'd steer Eike in the direction of the Order that would be the best fit for Eike as opposed to whatever Order she thinks would be the best fit for the EIC. While she IS only eleven, Eike is still the best person to judge which Wind is the best fit for her. As long as she doesn't pick up any Arcane Marks during her Junior Apprenticeship she could even reconsider later, if necessary.

That said, while I don't want to proactively push Eike in the direction of being a Grey, if she DOES go that route I will definitely strongly support taking her as our Apprentice when the time comes.

- [X] The Grey Order

Again, I think it would be a little disingenuous not the mention the Magic-Dampening as a real option, even if mathy thinks little of it.

Hubert is actually really strange for a human, most humans do not have a preferred wind and the choices of who goes to what College is up to College culture.
