English really isn't that weird. It just has a large amount of words because it ate another language's vocabulary whole, and hasn't had a decent universal spelling reform in literally forever.
Anything else is no more confusing or weird that what you find in other Germanic languages, and is often simpler.
Very true. There *was* an attempt at spelling reform, and to standardize the language... and make it more like Latin. Even though it's a Germanic language.

It was only partially effective at changing words, and sometimes tried to latinize words that weren't Latin at all.

Basically this, for spelling:

If Heidi can be said to be Ranald+some borrowed Shallayan power, than I tihnk Mat kind of qualifies for some Ulrik's blessings. She has the martial aspects down pat. Even has a Wolf familiar. Has she not hunted enemies of Man and survived everything they threw at her?

If Ulric's first command is survive, and it can eat both magic and cannons, then I don't see the problem. Hell, Mathilde had already been on her Pilgrimage to the Sacred Flame and she's personally spoken to the Al-Ulrik. And she's about to be in a Colledge who's whole purpose is working with the Gods. (and other Wizards)

I mean, at a minor stretch I could see people in-universe wondering if Mathilde pays homage to Ulric, with a couple of those elements being possibly indicative (mostly Wolf), same way all the Dwarf-help seemingly has some people wondering if she worships Sigmar...
...but if you're saying Mathilde-the-character-we-play should get some Ulric boons and blessings... I don't agree.

She doesn't revere Ulric in any noticable way, and has done nothing in particular for Him or to win His favour.
(Heidi specifically got her re-youthification blessing from one of Shallya's priestesses, for doing a lot of work for their/Shallyas benefit. Arguably the boon thus came from the mortal church and priestess that cast the spell/prayer/ritual, and not as a direct boon from the Goddess Shallya herself).

Partly the bit about what it looks like from outside, but I was more thinking about how Ulric has been shown so far from Mat's point of view. How for someone born with Magic, becoming a Wizard of the Colledges and wielding it is following Ulric's will. His first command: Survive. So while we're looking at Ranald for God of Mages, it's entirely possible to split the Wizards between them, if Ranald isn't too much into the Protecting. Even if I love the idea that Mat's the reason Ranald has been getting into fights lately.

On a completely unrelated note, I found this on the front page:

Treasures:
Complete collection of Strygosi coins
Complete collection of Tylosian coins
Complete collection of Nehekharan coins of the 4th, 5th, and 6th Dynasties
That might cause some problems in the future, methinks.

They haven't in the past 3 thousand years, so we're probably safe for the next three centuries atleast.

The Tomb Kings care very much about the treasures they were buried with being stolen. They don't seem to care very much about things that they weren't buried with.

If it was going to be an issue, they'd have raised a fuss about it before now. Whoever put that money in the Grand Urbaz bank is presumably still around to remember it and has been for millennia, but it hasn't caused an issue yet.

They might if they find out it's not in said bank anymore.

This conversation has come up before, we're all good:
The Tomb Kings get quite astonishingly touchy about the wealth they were buried with, but wealth deposited in foreign banks by the living doesn't have the same conceptual importance.

It's not mummy gold, it's gold deposited in a dwarven vault by people who might be mummies now.
