Well, this is somewhat unfortunate.
I would've liked to just summon it, but I suppose one can do only so much with a "connection" like this one. Gotta be thankful for this much.

[X] A specialized Wayfinder which can find the daemon when on the same plane
-[X] Have a group of 3 Erynies assigned to using the Wayfinder to triangulate the position of the Daemon throughout the month.
-[X] Have them all supplied with Mindblank items.
-[X] Keep detailed notes on the locations that Daemon is found at and utilize House of Mirrors to carefully look into any of them. Full anti-divination precautions: have memories of the divination results scrubbed from the scryers using Memory Moss, after the results are put down on paper and in an enchanted lead box.
-[X] After approximately a month of keeping track of Daemon, prepare to eliminate it o the next location of appearance, based on the previously divined information (and clean out any other visited locations via notifying the Inquisition).

3 Erynies because they are pretty powerful, but a solo one can be locked down and killed far too easily.
And we don't really have other freely-available units of comparable strength, reliability, and Greater Teleport at-will.

I would've preferred to just scry-and-die the ass, but if we can't, at least we can bullshit around whatever sleeper cells it visits, or whatever.
So, setting it up as a Minor Action, is my solution. Hopefully, next month it appears around and we can kill it.

Yeah, even getting this much was a big boon. Otherwise we would have had to hope for a lucky random encounter, or maybe facing it at the end of the Sarnori campaign.

That sounds to be as close to a winner as can be managed all things considered.

Looks good, dude. Can you add @Tomcost's idea to have the Wayfinder team check other Planes in which we have interests?

How does the staff of ages cursing through Mind blank work? Could we kill the daemon's wis near immediately before attempting a summoning so it doesn't resist?

This is a reasonable level of precaution, right?

Or should I also specify that the scryers have to be in a Lead-lined/Mindblanked room when divining, or something?
...I'm kinda iffy on how divination and counter-divination works, tbh.

Sure, a moment.

You know, if we were suffciently prepared, we could temporarily Plane Shift to Abaddon to see if it is there, though. I'm not so sure about doing so on the Plane of Negative energy, though.

--[X] Full counter-divination precautions:
---[X] The divination shall proceed in a lead-lined or (if possible) Mind-blanked room.
---[X] After the results are relayed to Viserys via a Mindblanked messenger - have memories of the divination results scrubbed from the scryers' minds using Memory Moss.

Hope this covers everything.
No non-Mindblanked carriers for the information; scrubbing it from the minds of non-mindblanked before they leave the location protected from divination; no acting on the information until enough of it is amassed (and also to not alert the Daemon prematurely).
Could all be pointless and we'll face the Daemon in this campaign, or we don't manage to catch him with this at all, but hey, rng is ring. :V

Will put us at:
1) Lucan
2) Daemon
3) Chosen of Stranger
4) Chosen of Smith
5) Chosen of Crone
As people of interest to... handle next month.

We could possibly pull it off, but I don't trust our luck to keep us from attracting things worse than what we're hunting.

I kinda feel like I'm overthinking it and we should jsut go for the Daemon the next time we detect him, and not try surveying it for an entire month.
Am I overcomplicating things?

The Staff of Ages only does that if we have a physical piece of the person.

We used it with Varys when we got a piece of his skin from his simulacrum.
Depends on if a Daemon counts as part of a daemonhost creature. On the other hand, sr 31 means we'd have to roll 16+ in order to succeed, so probably not worth it.

Also, assuming it spends time on the material plane, I'm very much not sold on letting it do what it wants for a full month. I can see a week, but it could cause the collapse of a major city in a month.

Full on Void agents are extremely limited in what overt expenditures of power they can use before the Long Night arrives. Basically, unless Bloodraven and the OG do something big, we don't have to worry about the Olethrodaemon doing much visiting agents, adjusting plots, and trying to cultivate assets.

That said, I don't expect it to visit too many places this coming month. If we learn of two or three locations of Void interest, I'll be happy.

I got the impression that it was the Void itself that was restricted, not its agents. For example, I don't think anything Soft Strider does gives the Others more power they can use. I think that (barring meta logic of DP attention coming here because Viserys came), the Oletherodaemon would of gotten Mardosh to be Void infested by the end of the month.

Maybe the Olethrodaemon is high up enough to count as part of the void and not an agent, but I wouldn't be certain of it.

The Old Gods have their 1 to 1 relationship with the Others, not the Void as a whole. It's because of their Summer Court vs Winter Court mechanic, and I really don't think it covers Void agents who aren't associated with the Others, like this Daemon.

That only applies to the Others, @Goldfish, due to their Fey nature. I don't think the rest of the Void is so restricted. The entity as a whole might be bound by rules we don't understand, but I'm fairly sure if the Bloodstone Emperor makes a big move the Old Gods don't get some sort of free counter.

Ah, yeah, my mistake. I was equating it with the Others because it was inhabiting the Soul Reaper. The last time we encountered one of those, it was as an agent of the Others.

Still, I think we should try to track its movements for the time being, especially if it can act independently. Learning about Void agents rather than those acting on behalf of the Others could be very helpful. If something happens that is would prompt is to intervene, we can always choose to do so before the end of the month.
