Also a big glowy ball hovering around us might not be helpful during the common second part of our infiltration shenanigans, the 'running away from an angry mob' part.

Current Task: Karag Dum Expedition preparations (NEW)
[ ] Collate useful information on the northernmost Dark Lands from Qrech and Lady Magister Grey.
[ ] Seek out merchants who have travelled the Skull Road to learn what they know of it.
[ ] Seek volunteers from the Colleges to join the Expedition.
[ ] Seek mercenaries to join the Expedition (optional: specify who/where).
[ ] With the help of a gyrocarriage, personally scout part of the route (specify: High Pass, Road of Skulls, Western Great Steppes, Karag Dum vicinity)
[ ] Try to contact the Ice Witches of Kislev in the hopes they can provide clement weather for the Expedition.

I am bit surprised you didn't include an option for anti-chaos wards/other magical protections for the convoy since that seemed to me to be the most obvious choice.

I'm hoping we might know something about what such wards entail, after the Anti-Chaos Course.

(Plus, they presumably have Runes of Valaya.)

It'd be a disaster to have it constant, as they'd bumble around knocking things off shelves and such. It'd have to be activated.

Would there be a time limit, or would it just stay active as long as we want?

It could be tweaked to do either or both.

Right then, not gonna lie, sort of want Cleansing Light a lot. What's even the point of being a wizard if you have to suffer the pains of becoming sweaty and dirty, like you're a regular person?

Then again, if Ulgu Tongs work, we could just learn it.

Considering that this scouting mission is likely to be much longer any of 8 peaks ones where we could go home after a few hours this might be a very important quality of life enchantment for this.

If you are going to spend days or even weeks behind enemy lines. Having something to unspoil food and keep your clothes clean seems very super important.

Sweet, one more person on team Cleansing Light.

Though I'm not sure if the clothes enchantment would also keep our food unspoiled. I'd certainly love it if it did.

Sure. All you'd have to do is find the one cave in an extremely large and hostile chain of mountains that it happens to be in. Shouldn't take more than a century or three to scour the area. With near-constant breaks to fend off daemons and cultists.
I was figuring that some daemon or cultist would have it. Makes a great trophy.

That's not really an ambition though, she's doing something unprecedented sure but she didn't search out for a chance to do so, it just happens to be a requirement after the last battle in K8P to rebuild the ecosytem from nothing due to the collateral damage from all the spells and runic magic.
She might not have sought it out, but she took the opportunity when it came. She didn't go 'I'm in over my head', or call back home asking for help, she just rolled up her sleeves and got stuck in with a smile on her face. The fact that the opportunity only came about by accident does nothing to diminish the scope of the ambition needed to look at it and go 'you know what? I can do something with this'.

I mean, that's how a big chunk of Mathilde's ridiculous feats came about- she was in the right place at the right time, saw an opportunity, and took it.
I view the desire of career progression as important for serious magisters because they should have ambitions that require the greater influence that the titles bring to bare.
If your ambitions and goals are something that would be helped by that, then sure. But if they aren't then it's nothing more than a fancy title and a cheaper tithe. She's assisting with keeping an entire Karak fed and is rebuilding a huge amount of wasteland into arable land, both of which are massive tasks by any standards, but not ones that extra influence are really relevant to.

Also need
Ferment: Converts touched liquid into safely drinkable alcoholic beverage. Undrunk beverages eventually revert.
We can a while go without food and there are all sort of ration bars we can use, but it is hard to carry enough water. Better to be able to get as needed.

From what we know from the books it is located in a cave somewhere with the remains of the last prince of Karag Dum. Considering its quasi-divine nature and origin as well as what happenened to Gotrek once he got his hand son it there may well be some sort of "manipulation" of fate going on that makes it unlikely to be found it by somebody who isn't destined to wield it...

So either we have no chance of finding it or we trip over it. I guess we are going to have to use the coin for gambler rather than night prowler.

Night prowler first to map the place out though.

I think we're better served by increased our standard enchantment skill first, as it allows for greater effects on all our craft increases production rolls and means that the result of the roll is better even if we roll poorly.
Oh agreed, at least once I saw Boney state that if we did the AV enchanting research we'd automatically use it in enchantment if we did enchanting in the same turn.

Maybe if boxcars and Ranald has some more fun...

So we are going to want to say a prayer to the Ancestor Gods before we go in. Make it clear that we know it isn't our axe, but it would be nice if we could find it and bring it back to the dwarfs saving them alot of bother.

Also, to go straight to the origin of our meeting .... no one who isn't ambitious in some way would sign up to go to K8P back when Belegar was first setting out.

Her ambitions might not be the same as our ambitions, but she wouldn't be here if she didn't have some sort of fire burning inside of her that she's willing to fight over.

So we are going to want to say a prayer to the Ancestor Gods before we go in. Make it clear that we know it isn't our axe, but it would be nice if we could find it and bring it back to the dwarfs saving them alot of bother.

When have we ever done this?

When have we ever found a Dawi artifact and said a prayer to a Dawi deity and said out loud that we want to give this back to the Dwarves?

We've seen Mattie find Dwarven gear before, it doesn't go like that.

Also, it's a random location that Mattie has no reason to suspect has anything inside of it. Why is she praying beforehand?

It isn't like we want the axe. We would give it to the dwarfs as soon as we got back. We don't even know how to use an axe.
This is waaaay too metagamey for my comfort. If we end up in a cave and get a nat 100 maybe it'll happen, but otherwise I think it's best if we just leave it be.

We wear this stuff every, the amazing ability to stay clean cannot be understated.

Would Cleansing Glow extend to her own body, or would it just keep her clothes clean?
I support sticking Cleansing Glow on the robes, targeted to keep both themselves and Mathilde clean, if we can have it without the eponymous glow.

I can't believe that's true as if she were a magister she'd have more access to college resources to push towards her project.

Crown of Fire is a highly useful spell while being merely Relatively Simple, which means 2 CF. We should definitely incorporate this into our armour. We could also get Death's Messenger - another Relatively Simple spell - to add an extra +10 to intimidate tests. Finally, we can add Enchant Item to boost our Toughness or further enhance either our Command or Intimidate abilities, though that one'd cost 5 CF from being Fiendishly Complex.
Don't we already have an enchanted torc that does this? The one we got in exchange for returning the Doomfire Ring we found?
