As satisfying as it would be to just go on the offensive and try to flatten Ji Rong as soon as physically possible, I'm less secure in my thoughts about us being able to do that.

Tried and true is good enough for me, and if he does manage to mash us into the ground? Well, we'll know what holes need patching.

I mean, if Ling Qi can intuit that when Ji Rong talks about having less pride it isn't an insult, I think she can pick up that he can say thanks without directly saying Thank you, Baroness Ling Qi, for saving my brother Relong and I from being scattered into our component atoms when that teleportation beacon was disrupted by enemy action.

God. I'm now picturing Ji Rong like rearing back to leap at us and punch and halting in surprise when Ling Qi is just gone. The crowd dumbstruck as they watch her just like cartoon tiptoe behind him, Sixiang plugging his ears while we doot him to death slowly.

And if she can pick up that, it shouldn't be hard for Ji Rong to read an acknowledgement into "the reason you haven't been able to thank me is that I've made my cultivation schedule too crowded to fit talking to people in."

Would you, uh, like to share Ling Qi? Because the subtext here is going right over my head. <.<

Another facet of that which is more obvious in the RR version is that to Ling Qi, Ji Rong codes like one of the gang toughs who she tried her best to avoid entirely along with the gangs themselves.

In terms of the update itself there were a couple of things that I concluded from it:

I really like Ji Rong in this update, especially after reading the RR version of him up to the point its at. Dude's matured a good chunk and while he might or might not be aware of it just did us a solid for the rumor mill. Hope he doesn't die in the Jungle so we can fight him again and that when he comes back he doesn't cause too much political upheaval.

Yay Hanyi is back! I hope we get to see some hints of how composing her super secret special sauce song has changed her if at all.

I hope Zhengui gets to be front and center on stage for a while and that Zhen can bully Relong in amusing ways along with Hanyi.
