I forgot how useful Qrech's book interests were for expanding the library: picked up a smattering of Imperial and Dwarven books on dark lands (+0 to +3), mountains of mourn (+1 to +3), chaos dwarves (+1 to +2), and ogre kingdoms (+3 to +4) -- equivalent of 200 imperial gold and 150 dwarven gold!

Interesting that therumour mill only covers stirland/talabecland/moot/barak varr at the moment, not K8P...i suppose since the EIC is still setting up in K8P, especially with the new expansion in both territory and people (between immigrants and the royal influx of workers), the local presence can only manage the clan undumgi monitoring still.

Hmm. @BoneyM obviously its a background detail until and unless we end up switching focus back to stirland heavily or something, but how big a difference exactly does the mk 2 repeater make? Like, is it 'just' a matter of 'well when stored between campaigns in the like week between disasters in sylvania, they dont blow up as much', or is this a big enough deal to actually seriously cut down on over-time costs for the stirland army?

Considering Mathilde is in Karak Eight Peaks most of the time would she need a rumour mill for Karak Eight Peaks?

The rumour mill of K8P is about 75% 'you won't believe what the Wizard has done now'.

It will be a significant improvement for the business-as-usual Stirland where they're taken out of the armoury every other year or so, making it so they can be almost completely trusted to work as expected. On campaign like at the moment the improvement is less dramatic, but it still means being able to operate for longer before requiring maintenance, assuming they're cared for properly.

To join the upper echelons of the Order requires that they swear their life to Ulric. Marriage is off the table, and any serious relationship would undermine his leadership position as it would be seen as him not giving his all to Ulric and the Order.
Damn, that's unfortunate. Guess I'll have to settle for moving Oswald back into the running for partner candidates.

Damn. Figures the good ones are already taken.

Now I kind of want to see those. Rumors grow and change and mutate in the retelling. God knows what kind of rumors the other dwarf holds are actually hearing. I might actually write something about that.

Something mothers tell good little dwarves about, the horrors of living under the Domeless Sky, and the Living Shadow of Karak Eight Peaks that comes for beardlings who don't honor their oaths, to drag them before the Eye of Gazul for judgement.

Could you elaborate?
Here:

Its one real downside (as cost is amortized in the long term) has been drastically mitigated.

For the majority of situations, it seems it will work perfectly fine. And when working perfectly fine includes the performance the Repeater has (which made it unchallenged in RoF IRL for two hundred and fifty years), that's quite something.

The next step is significantly trickier. The throat and mouth of a canine is built for howls, growls and barks, not for spoken language, so teaching Wolf to speak any mundane language would have to find a way around that significant obstacle. Lingua Praestantia, however, is no mundane language. It is descended from the tongue of the beings the Elves say shaped the world, and it not only possesses words for concepts alien to Reikspiel, it also resonates with magic in such a way that chants and incantations in it resonate with magic and assist with the shaping of spells, rather than acting as a mere mnemonic device. A much lesser known property of the language is that it works the other way as well - just as Praestantia can shape magic, magic can form Praestantia. Theoretically, any creature with even a sliver of magical ability could learn the cantrips to turn magic into spoken word, but as it requires that creature to already have a solid grasp of the language, in practice it is only of use to Familiars, who have the intelligence and inclination to attempt it in the first place and can use their bond to accelerate the learning process.
@BoneyM : Does this mean that the We could learn Lingua Praestantia? I realize not many people speck it around here, but still useful.
