Seems awfully selfish to me to keep them close at hand when they would be safer elsewhere. I thought we learned better from Zeqing.
[X] Send Mother, Biyu and the rest of the household away until things settled down. It might cost her, but she could settle her family in a barony a little further north, away from incursions. (-3 Green Stones, small political effort required, safe family, potential emotional conflict?)

Maybe I'm misremembering but I think she only started getting really vitriolic after that time Liling skewered us.

As far as a more defensive element to learn durability from... Wood or Mountain, I think, as Metal has proven to be untenable. Wood fuels Fire, too, which may come into play.

Eh, he's still a from a noble clan with all the benefits that entail. He was such a little shit to Ling Qi at the beginning of the quest because she was a commoner and not attractive to his taste that I can't bring myself to care.

Also, I'm not sure he changed his attitude toward those below him, seems he just cower in front of Ling Qi because she's above him now.
And Lanlan deserves better.
