Yeah, I'm getting concerned the menagerie of tutors might be confusing them, we should take an action to directly oversee their education, preferably along with the priest if she sticks around, in case kicking her and starting over just compounds the problem.Ouch, we have not been getting great results on these We education rolls.
One other thing I thought of however, is that we're only interacting with one member of the entire We species. Who know's how the rest of the entire species is? For all we know they might work with the Skaven, and this one is the odd one out. It's the only effective way, we don't have the ability to safely project power into the entire underground.
By the time this is a possibility we should trust the We as much as we would trust a human or dwarf doing it.
I do wonder if we can develop a mist spell to filter gasses. That'd be the optimal approach in my opinion.
Edit. Or shadow, or whatever. Just some form of magic air filter...
So if we want, we can theoretically minimize the effect of smoke/fog/mist by creating constructs out of whatever is following us around. If we use these constructs as distracting methods or in combination with Invisibility it might actually give us further advantages in infiltration or assassination. Though I imagine holding two spells up simultaneously is quite difficult. What are your guys thoughts on this possibility?

@BoneyM how does Dhar compare metaphysically to that capricious concentration of ulgu that Mathilde taps into when using battle magic? I remember you mentioning that Dhar essentially starts off at battle magic level and as you get better, it only gets more reliable.
I'm curious if the reason dhar is both powerful and dangerous is because it's similar in some way.
Say @BoneyM If we crit spell learning while learning Battle Magic, is it still possible for us to get Traits/Arcane Marks from that, because beyond my own desire to learn the full Battle Magic list, I'd be great if we could get Magic 9 without a staff.
I would argue that the Maw is worse, the HR does try to instill something resembling civilization and rules in the SKaven, the Maw just drives the orgues insane. While the HR is undoubtedly worse I feel the Maw is a relatively close second.
Might be time to take a personal interest as an action.Ouch, we have not been getting great results on these We education rolls.
I think it'd be silly to underestimate him. He knows we can enter the room with out waking him and place new things inside I expect he's certainly capable of imagining we have ways of observing him that aren't obvious more over I suspect he's testing Mathilde statement about not looking for more power over him. Showing he values the puppy means that if we want to punish him the obvious way to do so is take the puppy away from him. It's definitely possible that he's basically making the puppy a shield.
we'll see how it plays out I suppose.
Okay, I remember that now, but and I'm not trying to be rude here, you didn't answer my question. Can we still get Arcane Marks from learning Battle Magic?
That would make lurking in a Conflagration of doom more practical.@BoneyM has already confirmed that we can commission a charm that will make Mathilde inmune to sickness, poison and smoke...
I have suggested in numerous occasions to commission one, in the case that we ever needed to fight against the clan pestilens... But I guess that now it is much more urgent to do it.
Okay, I remember that now, but and I'm not trying to be rude here, you didn't answer my question. Can we still get Arcane Marks from learning Battle Magic?
We joke, but "throws their name on everything" is a reasonable personality quirk for someone who may have shadow magic crawl down their back and make people forget about them.Mathilde's Distracting Ethereal Copy Of Yourself,

Any time you have to roll for magic, you can get an arcane mark. You can never avoid rolling to cast battle magic and you have to cast a spell to learn it. So yes, every battle spell comes with the risk of an arcane mark.Okay, I remember that now, but and I'm not trying to be rude here, you didn't answer my question. Can we still get Arcane Marks from learning Battle Magic?
We could also give the priest a support action, the [] work with someone option.Might be time to take a personal interest as an action.
Even if We education remains a long term project, we might get to understand the factors and limitations better (the hidden bonuses and penalties)
Then perhaps be able to address the problems, to help the teachers make faster progress in the future.
(The counterpoint being AP hell and just rely on RNG helping us before ???)
Qrech here is showing empathy towards another living being, and it isn't just petting and grooming to allay the boredom, he is giving the puppy some of his stashed food. I mean sure we know Mathilde would have no reason to try and starve him into compliance, but he does not know that, that is why he even has a food stash. Yet he is giving some of the food to the puppy enough to feed it out of his secret reserves, even though he is constantly in the grip of the Black Hunger.
Another important thing is that it is a puppy not a rat, this is not some weird Skaven-Rat metaphysical affinity, he just likes the puppy. What this says about both Qrech and the potential of the Skaven to be more than the horror the Horned Rat has made of them is both fascinating and in a way sobering.
We could also give the priest a support action, the [] work with someone option.
Have we used that yet?
That's for other council members. We could also give the priest a support action, the [] work with someone option.

If we understand the mechanisms of its communication better, we can share those insights with the Priestess to help her express herself in a We-friendlier way, similar to how Mathilde figured out their mindset early on in the initial communication efforts and took over from the Ambers.
