You can't be right. Dwarves are resistant to magic, which is why magic affects them less than humans. Humans, on the other hand, are the most mutable race on Mallus and would get changed by exposure to magic long before dwarfs start turning to stone from it.
Some of K8P's normal humans might change, yes, but the possible effects, or lack thereof, on the Undumgi is what interests me, given what we know about them OOC.

You can't be right. Dwarves are resistant to magic, which is why magic affects them less than humans. Humans, on the other hand, are the most mutable race on Mallus and would get changed by exposure to magic long before dwarfs start turning to stone from it.
While that's true, Dwarves also can't 'absorb' as much magic as humans. Basically the humans can ignore it because it's probably about as much magic as there is if they walk around in a storm or near a large fire, while the Dwarves typically repel magic, but can't repel it if they're eating it.

There's basically no way a non-battle magic enchanted cleansing item of Hysh would infuse the water with permanent quantities of Hysh, it just isn't that simple or easy to keep magic in a medium. we'd also know pretty much instantly if it was a problem due to Mathilde having the Wind sage trait and being able to see if there was any magic there.

On a related note, in a couple of turns we should probably look into dropping an action on seeing if we can use wind sage to see through Pall of Darkness and work on upskilling our understanding of that trait or if we're a bit lucky upgrading the trait again.

This argument is unconvincing. It makes a lot more sense that humans who drink magic water will mutate faster than the dwarfs who drink magic water.

Nothing. Humans don't react negatively to magic in their system.

whilst i'll admit it's mostly due to wanting to complete the spellbook, it's also something we could teach an apprentice if we ever got one.

Because four spells from one AP is plenty and nobody even mentioned it until now.

Yes. The details of someone's relationship with their Wind is intensely personal, and anyone with a limitation like this is almost guaranteed to be incredibly touchy about it.

Makes sense to me.

Dwarfs can resist and repel magic but humans can absorb and utilize it (often to horrible mutating results but hey).

A) You don't know that
B) That could depend on the way the item is cleansed
C) We literally have WoG that it contains some amount of magic, enough to be dangerous to Dwarves.

Why? Humans don't mutate from living in the Colleges, which are dripping with magic.

Dwarf resistance to magic does not, it turn out, extend quite as much to their internal organs.

Wouldn't it just evaporate out of the water the moment it's not in the source? Besides I figured you'd just use it as a filter for what ever outlet system you have rather than constantly being active and if you had to have it in the main water reservoir have it work on a loose timer cleaning the water once every x period of time. That said I guess it's not really our issue yet until Belegar comes to us with the idea.

I wasn't asking if it poisons them or does something negative, but what it does in general. Humans are mutative, so I figure it'd change them in some manner, if not in a strictly negative way. If they don't react negatively, then maybe we can segregate the water? Hysh has spells that heal and remove diseases, so long-term drinking of hysh water might make humans healthier. Same if something can be managed with ghyran food.

They do actually. The magic-dense nature of the colleges help attune apprentices to that college's wind, making it easier for them to draw from that wind and harder for them to draw from others. They'd probably react even more if they started drinking and eating stuff with magic shoved in it all the time.

They'd probably react even more if they started drinking and eating stuff with magic shoved in it all the time.
I wasn't thinking of the wizards, who are already somewhat more sensitive to that sort of thing anyway, I was thinking of the staff that inevitably have to exist, because I can't imagine there's wizards that go around cleaning or cooking for large numbers of people.
 
Well, look at it this way; when asked whether Dwarfs would be willing to use magical items made by a Wizard, the answer was a "No way." They'd want their runic items, and no way would they use Wizard magic-enchanted things.

Now, take that, and think about how they'd feel about drinking water that -- apparently -- had magic spells cast on it. It's like the equivalent of using enchanted magic items; drinking enchanted magic-cleaned water. They wouldn't feel well about that at all, I think.

On the other hand, they probably have Runes for purifying and cleaning water. The issue with the Skaven in the original fall of Karak Eight Peaks was probably the suddenness and surprise of it as much as anything. And that it was the underground water that was poisoned, I believe; whereas here we're collecting water from the top of the mountain, I think?
