And hence the odd look at Adela's wand I suppose. Because if it starts exploding I'm not sure she has enough arm to get it out of blast radius.
Speaking of Power-matter... Hey, @BoneyM, what exactly do powerstones do, anyways, as far as spells are concerned? Because to make the tower of Dawn and Dusk we incorporated failed powerstones, but as far as we know power stones are just condensations of Wind-energy. Was the flaw either in a failure to condense it properly, or in a material result that was just formed oddly, resulting in a nonstandard effect?

My current theory is that they attract and sort of... impart momentum to the winds. Like, they're not losing energy or anything to boost the amount of wind being expended, they're just causing them to go faster. Sort of like a magnet that can attract or repel things. Then, the failed powerstone would be like one of those magnets, except it only attracts.
I mean, i am not gonna lie, taming a dragon and forming partnership would be fukken amazeballs, i just doubt its in the cards unless Ranald decides we roll like, three natural crits in a row.
Well, they're a person, so it wouldn't be taming them. I just want to be their friend. It's a bit preemptive, of course, given that we don't know their temperament or personality or anything, but as long as we don't gamble our lives on them also wanting to be our friend I think it'd be a good mindset to start our interactions with. Also, if we keep it up, wanting to be friends with every weird thing we find living in Eight Peaks is going to make it onto the list of things that Dwarves think Court Wizards do, which would be great.

(Actually, that would give us yet another loophole to dump our wealth into; Dame Mathilde can only get away with having so much wealth before it gets egregious, but Dragon Friend Mathilde would be practically required to sleep on a hoard of gold and jewels, it's in the job description!) :V

Thread discussion pointed to Waagh being more well favored. So it goes. Relatively few people considered the vampire paper to be strategically as important, even if its worth more Favor directly.
...despite it being the battle wizards (who are the ones who will get the most use out of it) who are currently fighting a massive continuous engagement against vampires and the undead in sylvania? greenskins are a concistent problem sure but there isn't a big waah crumping it up in the empire now is there? It's the vamps that are ones the people who will read the papers the most will be facing more of at the moment...

We're honoring him by stealing the knowledge of the skaven language.

Ranald approves.
And stealing it via trickery no less.

Imagine showing up in Nagarythe on back of Emperor dragon. I know its basically impossible, but i really, really want it. Its so cool.

I think people are being a little optimistic on the dragon diplomacy front; Like, if Asarnil, Anton and our Supreme Patriarch showed up and Voltron'd into an elvish dragon diplomacy god, I'd give him maybe 30% odds of everything not ending in tears.

Okay, so, the dragon. We really, really want this to be handled well. Luckily, it's something that can keep for years to come, so we hopefully have some time to set things up.

• Identify the dragon, see if it has Grudges and generally if cooperation is possible. If it is:

• Save up 20 College Favor. Calling in the Grey Patriarch cost 20 favor, with a 50% discount for an area of personal interest. I'm assuming that calling the Supreme Patriarch for an area of his interest would be double that.

• Buy a bunch of books about Elves, and use the bonus from that and the Gambler to write to Asarnil. Call in Anton if we think it'll help. Dude's an expert on dragon cooperation that's willing to work with Dwarves.

• Buy all the books on Dragons we can find. Take Amber classes on dragons. Get that dragon lore.

• Build a temple to the Gambler. Mathilde thought she could improve her luck. Well, resolving this with an alliance will take all the luck she can get.

I will say it's probably unlikely we'll be able to negotiate with this specific Ice Dragon into being our companion, but I really want a dragon companion.

We already wrote a paper on the necromancy techniques we saw. As far as we're aware, only Necrarchs can do the "mist form", and there are no more Necrarchs currently popping up on Sylvania.

So huh. Anyone else think Mhonar is where the Ancestor Spirits of the Karak are still holding the line?

Fuck you gotta point there. That'd be rad as heck.
It's worth bearing mind that Boney's last word on the subject is that he couldn't find anything in canon supporting the existence of Ancestor Spirits.

Ok so I've learnt most of my lore from either this thread or the Total War games. In Warhammer 2 Clan Angrund has the exclusive ability to field Ancestor Hero units. I take this to mean that Clan Angrund has the ability to summon and talk with notable Dead Dwarven Heroes who are now venerated as Ancestors. Can any of the Lore Experts here tell me how exactly this is done? If it's possible I'd like to see if we could get an Ancestor to be Belegars therapist since these are the dawi that started traditions. Of course we'd have to find one that wouldn't repudiate Belegar immediately, but would this have a chance of helping his state of mind?
I've not encountered any lore that makes the 'weaponized ancestor ghost' thing make any sense.

Scribble on loose sheets of papers, haphazardly bound in twine, the title Lady Magister 2: Wings of Desire is barely legible.

Having gained the favor of GAZUL and the interest of his HIGH PRIEST, the stoic and mysterious GUNMAR, MAGDA WESSEN, now LADY MAGISTER of the GREY ORDER, has completed her GREAT WORK, the TOWER OF FLAMING SHADE. With this, she has RISEN to the HEIGHTS OF MAGICAL POWER, but HEIGHTS are often LONELY, as her loyal companions CONSTANCE BREW and JACOB GOLDENROD must seek their own ways of matching her GREAT DESTINY.

Yet danger stirs, for the SHADOW WAR of the UNDERWAY still paints the darkness red, and the MYSTERIOUS FIGURE, leader of the MOUSEMEN ASSASSINS, still has not fulfilled his promise of a second confrontation (See: The Magical Princess 3: Morr Is To Come). And on frozen Ziflin, hungry eyes shine with SAVAGE DESIRE for PRINCESS MADA and her accomplishments, with a HEART like FROZEN ICE.

Will MAGDA finally manage to find the LIGHT to her SHADOW? Will she DEFEND all she holds DEAR, and will her YEARNING for LOVE sway her from the PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, or offer REDEMPTION?

One thing I've always wondered with these; does the author fudge the names out of a vain hope of avoiding trouble from the actual people and events he's aping, or is there another reason?

[X] Plan Translation Extraction

@BoneyM
Another idea I do not know how to put to plan-actions:
Because the mastered variant of Aethyric Armour makes her not tire from physical exertion would that not be a possible research? Grey wind does not do healing so does it in this instance or does magic replace her muscles or support it heavily? What is going on with that? Can it be exploited?

I mean, these stopped being side stories a while ago (which makes me quite sad, but such is life). That said, my headcanons is
  1. It's Mathilde, and this is her way of coping with the stress in her life, and she doesn't expect anyone to ever see them.
  2. It's Anton, and this is his way of making sure due credit is received and nudging her to find a nice boy/girl (he's been reaching, since she doesn't seem interested in the normal options)
  3. They just manifest in a sufficently large concentration of (romance) books. Followers of Verena are quite confused, they haven't discovered L-Space yet, much less R-Space.
And yes, I can believe several contradicting things at once. That's how Grey Wizards roll, and not at all a sign of insanity.

EDIT: Also, can I get some appreciation for the Mors pun? I'm genuinely proud of that (you can decide for yourself how sad that is).
