@BoneyM The Grey Tower is many things, but one of them is the quite possibly completely unprecedented use of Gazul's flames being directed by manling magic, specifically Ulgu. Vampire Souls aren't reachable by Divine magic, as they exist purely in the material world, where Gods can only really reach those in the Warp. The winds of Magic are literally what happens when the Warp has been pulled into the material world, and can affect it. Ulgu is specifically the wind for hidden things and evasion. Can we test to see what happens when some scrub-tier vampire's remains are hit by the Tower, possibly as part of a larger study of "what can we destroy with this mechanism"?

I'm aware you've said in the past that every clever trick to deal with Vampires has been tried and has failed - I only ask because this seems unusual enough that it might not have been tried.

"Well, we sure destroyed the bit of him that was here. Does that just free up his soul to respawn based on the next largest bit of them, wherever that might be in the world? We have no idea."

"I don't remember Nuln cannons being this shoddy. They used to make them better in the good old days. Yes, that must be it. Oswald, we need to write down they owe us a discount. Wouldn't want to forget how frustrated we are"

Vote Oswald!

The top four votes seem to have a solid enough lead that I can't see them being outright knocked out of the running, even if they get pushed down a rank or two, so it seems like the knife fight is going to be for fifth place, with Roswita and the fief neck and neck, and Oswald close enough that he could still potentially catch up.

As such, a blatantly pathos-drenched reminder to you all: screen time for Oswald could mean screen time for Corporal Snuggles.

Compelling arguement. I will at least temporarily remove my vote for Rosie (never thought that day would happen). It might reappear later, because I would still prefer Rosie to the Fief.

They build collossal superweapons to suck the souls in the name of research?

Hey, wait a second, Gazul is a god of the dead and those are usually psychopomps. Did... Mathilde just build one of the components of the black pyramid, replacing ritual necromancy by ancestor runes?

Nagash better never think about this. He's about 4 or 6 valleys away too.

edit: on second thought the rune of Gazul is for channeling the cold fire out, not pull souls in. Hopefully.

That also means it's unlikely it works to dead-dead vampires, without the god being able to work through the ulgu on the vampire souls directly anyway.

Nagash was never actually a bad guy, he's just what happens to people like Mathilde when they run out of adventures and neat things to poke.

"One day I woke up and realized there were no more papers to write. I'd explored everything, learned everything."

"Then I realized it made me a physical god, so conquering the world was the only the possible course."

Wait, what? Our fief is winning 5th spot? Interaction with goats and a man-with-slightly-larger-herd over Roswita and Oswald?
Well, we gave them some money and a nice shrine the last time we were there. But yeah. We voted for Roswita last turn, and I want to see how the people we aren't messing with are doing. Maybe we could build them a castle or something, get upgraded to Lord.

Then we'd be Lord Lord Magister Mathilde Weber.

[X] Yes. What better place to burn armies from than the skull of a dragon?

Lord Magister Lord Loremaster Mathilde Weber, I think.
