Rule 5 - Do not debate staff decisions in-thread.
[STOP=So this is not okay at all]
So I'm sure that everyone participating in this thread is aware of the rules and guidlines of SV. But despite my certainty of this fact, it confuses me that things like this:

Are being stated on the site. So let me break this down real quick; this comment is a very hateful comment that's advocating genocide on an entire race. That's not okay. Regardless on whether or not this is a fictional race or a real one, that is not okay. So!

Because you like doing things like this, take 25 and a week off from the thread, since you couldn't even attempt to backtrack after being advised to do so by a moderator participating in the thread. Don't do it again.

As for everyone else...well, practice self-control and be kind with each other, and try to make sure things don't get out of hand in this thread guys.
[/STOP]
Ok, sorry for lurking here guys but this is something I have to say. Are you hating on the fact someone on the thread recommended using fungicide on the ultra-violent plant people? That is...Orks? The race that literally has no women and children...that is considered by many to be a sentient bioweapon? Those orks? If you are; geez I'm glad I don't write on this site, because I love the Orks but even I realise what they are.

And it most certainly does not mean I would gennocide innocent men and women in any way. I feel that there is a fine line between keeping things civil (by all means some of these guys get really invested in the shipping wars; that part is fine) and sterilising the thread so that nothing ever grows again. At the end of the day, this is Warhammer...with Warhammer Orks.

If the guy wants to debate about ways to kill a shit load of them whilst minimising the loss of lives for the humans and dwarves (with the APPROVAL of the king; who approves of these sneaky choices due to previous decisions on the quest) then the man should be able to.

I just feel passionate about this, as there is a fine line between freedom of speech and keeping things civil; and I don't feel what he said constitutes an attack on any other poster nor any group. It instead constitutes an attack on ultra violent semi-sentient plant people who quite literally cannot understand peace and would be completely fine with the man attacking them as that is how they see the world works.

@BoneyM I've been looking over the quest, and apparently there are expeditions to Karak Varn and Karak Dum that are either happening or about to happen sometime soon. Anything you can tell us about how they're doing?

Honestly I really don't get the seemingly constant Johann hate.
What can I say, people get annoyed when they get bamboozled, especially more so when Mathilde is supposed to be the one doing the bamboozling. That dang nabit Johann, stealing our shtick. Only proper way to repay for this transgression is to poke the Skaven tech before he does, to one up him.

Oh for... Please no.

@BoneyM Some questions about the new state of affairs in Karak Eight Peaks:

-How many immigrants from Karak Azul's former (and now again) Eight Peaks clans were there?

-How large is the Throng of Karak Azul operating in Eight Peaks, and where are they focusing on the most ATM?

-How many Gyrocopters and Gyrobombers make up the K8P Aircorps?

@BoneyM Can we do a full report on the EIC's current situation and expansion to the Grey College? We're really not impartial enough to decide if they've crossed a line ourselves.

  • Getting a Perpetual Apprentice to serve as assistant/general minion
You can put the offer out, but it's up to the individual PAs whether they take the offer. Two favours a year would be standard for those in a more convenient location, four would probably get you someone.
I'm actually more thinking of getting a... let's call it our Secretary, maybe even from a suitably inclined member of the Bursars office, and putting them in Wurtbad, to keep us (and the Bursar) abreast of affairs in the EIC and it's stranglehold on the Stirland economy.

Dude for your own sake delete this.

It's not worth it, for the record i agree with you on the orcs, but your just gonna get infracted and achieve absolutely nothing.

Arguing with a mod is against the rules afterall

Don't argue with the mod in the thread, there's a system for that sort of thing and it has no place in @BoneyM's story.

Going to bed now. Hopefully I won't find this thread locked because people can't read the site rules.

Might want to tak this somewhere else. Not that I don't agree with you, but this may not be the appropriate place.

I would strongly recommend looking at Rule 2 (forbidding advocating for genocide against fictional groups) and Rule 5 (arguing with staff action and/or staff policy in a thread) and then deleting your posts.

Even if we can(and that is a very, very big IF) that does not mean that we should. We would both be on a kill list for using forbidden magic and being the product of one.
"And when Stirland's need is greatest, Abelhelm van Hal shall return from the shadowed lands to lead His People once more! Classic King Under the Mountain story."
"We don't have that mythic story archetype. Who did you even hear that from, dwarves?"
"... Maybe."

Alternatively,
"I'll just convince them you were in hiding all this time!"
"And they'll believe that?"
"Well... I can definitely make them believe that I believe that?"

@BoneyM I've been looking over the quest, and apparently there are expeditions to Karak Varn and Karak Dum that are either happening or about to happen sometime soon. Anything you can tell us about how they're doing?

Karak Varn expeditions are a regular occurrence from Zhufbar, which is right next door, and they're more like heavily armoured mining teams than anything equivalent to King Belegar's Expedition.

The Karak Dum expedition is set to begin around 2485, and will be setting off from Karak Kadrin.

When this information exists, it will be added to the threadmarks.

@BoneyM Can we do a full report on the EIC's current situation and expansion to the Grey College? We're really not impartial enough to decide if they've crossed a line ourselves.

You could, but it will be interpreted as an admission that you've lost control of the situation and they'll err on the side of scorched earth.

I don't know if you've gotten to my post about why I agree that this isn't insider trading, but I do feel like I've not been able to express why I think what we've done is equivalent to insider trading and why the spirit of what we've done is the reason why insider trading is illegal.

Insider trading isn't illegal because of the use of confidential information for profit, it illegal because insider trading undermines society's trust in a fair securities exchange where everyone plays by the same rules. The breach of that trust and playing by different rules is why insider trading is illegal.

And I believe that Mathilde, and the EIC in general, are playing by different rules when they are able to communicate valuable material information quicker than literally anyone else in the Empire. And that's where I'm seeing the connection between what Mathilde did and what makes Insider trading illegal.
I get your point, but it doesn't apply.

There is no belief in a fair or just market, let alone an exchange market, to erode. We are in an era of guilds and deliberate national monopolies. The EIC is straight-up modelled after the East India Trade Company and the only thing it's missing to fulfil the model is a large, professional military.

Second, we have a definition of insider trading IRL whereby Mathilde's method isn't a crime. Therefore it cannot fall into that definition.

Personally I think it probably should because IRL it causes serious problems and creates anti-competitive effects just like here. But that isn't part of the discussion or this threads remit.
