*Insert sudden screechmarks* I did some re-reading and Anton already knows Julia. He introduced us and they are already good friends!
@BoneyM To our knowledge, was Julia Massif betrothed or had a lover?

Of course not, Julia Massif is a proper lady and it would besmirch her honour to say she took full advantage of her influence and power to have her pick of the men of Stirland and rotated them out as they started to bore her.

I have to admit, I want to thread this needle. I want Anton to find someone who is not only politically and financially beneficial, but also who he can fall in love with. It's just so unlikely, so impossible, that for a man in his circumstances it would be like betting his life and line's future on divine intervention.

*glances at Ranald's Coin*

So we can find him the perfect wife in about three action slots. And Anton melts my heart enough to spend them for him.

[X] Marry them...
- [X] Reinhild Gerber

dorky waifu best waifu. If he's gonna marry for realpolitik, someone with a laser focus on a single Thing, as opposed to someone who is going to bring influence to bear from her family, is ideal for preserving his gentle trusting soul.

(I gave serious thought to Marry Me... but while we like him a lot, I cannot imagine Mathilde marrying someone who doesn't have great skill at something. It doesn't necessarily need to be our thing, but it should be someone who has a sort of power we can respect.)

On which subject:

[X] 'Head Ranger' (Spymaster), Internal Focus

Two jewels in the bag. The other six are not going to be trivial, and we need to ensure that the two we've got stay put.
I'm sorry, Anton the Diplomancer doesn't have great skill? He is absurdly skilled, and he earned Mathilde's respect (to her surprise) long ago.

Think of it this way: If whoever Anton ends up with turns out to be horrible, we can do our duty as big sister and make sure they... Stop.

*and yes, we are the big sister right now shush Anton you don't get a say in it
Certainly. If his first breaks his heart, then Marthilde will just take care of her and find a new one for him. Perfectly normal things friends do.

The closest he has to a preference is a perpetually frazzled graduate from the Imperial Gunnery School of Nuln, who has cropped red hair, a missing ear, and a patent on a very interesting variation on the Repeater Hand Gun, with only a single barrel and a revolving chamber for holding the rounds themselves; when the girl isn't looking you compare the design with your own Dwarven revolver, and wonder if it's parallel evolution or if the girl has been looking outside the Empire for inspiration. More conventionally, there are marriages within Stirland. Specifically, the Count of Halstedt has a daughter, and the Baron of Marburg has a niece. A glance at the map confirms your suspicions: the former would spread the EIC into an overland trade route with the Moot, whereas the latter would allow the EIC as much a stranglehold over the Stir as they had over the Aver.

Let's read between the lines a bit: Mathilde actually meets Reinhild personally, and she has great personal achievment in engineering a new pistol design. The other two... not so much. Those are probably Wilhelmina picks. Reinhild meanwhile Anton might actually have feelings for but be too shy to say so. Though this section is kinda sparse.

Anton/Shallya/Ranald OT3?

EDIT: WHY IS THIS IDEA GROWING ON ME!?

...

The most logical way this to play out would be for Ranald to take note of Anton through his connection of Mathilde and decide that he's cute.
Given that this is Anton we're talking about, that isn't how it would play out.

Instead, Anton would meet them independently at a party. Shallya he would charm in his innocently kind and friendly way.

Ranald... there would be a card game, one with ever rising stakes. It would culminate in a hand with everything on the line. The next morning the now threefold god would wake up in a tangle of sheets next to the newly minted god of Luck, Gambling and Fellowship.

Math's exasperation upon discovering this would rival Kragg's maximum disapproval in intensity.

Of course not, Julia Massif is a proper lady and it would besmirch her honour to say she took full advantage of her influence and power to have her pick of the men of Stirland and rotated them out as they started to bore her.
Fair. Would it be improper to suggest a fresh option then to []Speak with Julia about her opinion of Anton. ?

Honestly I sort of just want to see what would happen with either of these.
I can strangely see Wilhelmina and Anton working really well.

Dispelling is not a spell per say, it's a raw skill in manipulating the winds of magic that someone with mastery is very unlikely to lack.
It's both.
Lesser Magics: More difficult but also more codified than petty magics, these are usually learned out of a book instead of being taught directly. Like Petty Magics, these are common to all the Colleges, and Priests can also achieve the same effect by channelling their Gods. Mathilde learned some of these, but not all, though she can send a letter to the Grey College requesting spellbooks for those she's missing (though if she loses them, she'd be in a world of hurt). Magic 1 required to learn, Magic 2 to cast reliably.

K / Dispel: Allows you attempt to Dispel an ongoing spell within short range. Cannot be used to try to banish demons or unbind the undead.

I mean, we do have the book of summoning husband.

... You know, just keep it in mind in case we end up not marrying Anton and you want a quality choice later on.

Hmm, on one hand we have a popular lady who seems unable to settle down. On the other hand, we have an innocent boy who has a way with words.

I am pretty sure I have seen enough movies to know where this is going.

On another note, I've run the numbers for a hypothetical paper for our snake box. While the numbers are generally very good, it's a bit of an edge case in some areas. It's Unique and Revolutionary/Shattering (most likely). It could be argued to be Familiar or Exotic as a warp being that shows up in the Empire, and it could be argued to be Precious given that Daemons don't generally get caught. We'd also be getting an easy Thorough. So it ends up at (3 + (2 or 3) + (-2 to +2) + (-1 to +1) + (-1 to 0) + (0 to 1) +1) = 2 to 11. Note that this is for the SnakeBox alone, a paper on the SnakeJuice would be another solid boost.

@BoneyM can we assume that, when we were letting Heinrich know that he no longer has to empty the snake juice bucket, we told him that we've just claimed the perfect spot for a shrine-casino-tavern in K8P and we could do with a priest of Ranald the Gambler?

edited: Wilhelmina + Anton makes it much harder to outvote her if she starts taking the EIC too far. While we can certainly pressure the two counts, that's two powerful nobles we don't know as opposed to one friend who trusts us. As things stand we can make strong suggestions and put things back on track without actually having it come to a vote because she knows we'd win. If she effectively controlled 36% too there's more chance of a disagreement leading to digging her heels in - formally overruling her probably makes her position untenable and ruins the friendship.

As far as I'm aware the canon has always been that chaos only entered the world with the collapse of the polar gates, and that they were then banished again with the creation of the Vortex, and since then can only enter the world if they are summoned. There's also the fact, that unless someone's posted a source I've missed, there is no canon for the dwarves having ever used Daemon blood like that, it's just speculation that people in the thread have started throwing around.
I could have sworn there was something quenched in demon blood in a wiki I was trawling through earlier, will try to find it when I get home.
