A bit, actually? She is rather caring and affectionate. And the long absense from home is not that much a problem for a noble, that's why you have nurses.

And on the topic of being good for Anton's house - Mathilde brings 36% share in EIC. That's a lot of money and power.
Probably would boost Anton's house and possess greater connections within the Empire. Certainly would be useful for a Grey Wizard.

She seems to get along with him, and is a right clever girl I could see us becoming friends with.

I think Steward is good for being Gray source, giving us time to research, and to get us connected to new interesting things with less risk than being the front line battlemage. We are shadows, not flame after all. Also, pushing the Dwarves into trade is healthy for them.

Child-rearing is not the same as child-bearing. I would not expect Mathilde to be a doting mother. Not when traditional motherhood would be at at least four of her action slots per turn for years following every child's birth. There's a reason that Grey Magisters with kids traditionally hand them off to someone else to raise.
I think Mathilde would be a very doting mother the five days a year she was around.

No, the real problem is preventing her from trying to do something stupidly risky while pregnant.

dorky waifu best waifu. If he's gonna marry for realpolitik, someone with a laser focus on a single Thing, as opposed to someone who is going to bring influence to bear from her family, is ideal for preserving his gentle trusting soul.

(I gave serious thought to Marry Me... but while we like him a lot, I cannot imagine Mathilde marrying someone who doesn't have great skill at something. It doesn't necessarily need to be our thing, but it should be someone who has a sort of power we can respect.)

On which subject:

[X] 'Head Ranger' (Spymaster), Internal Focus

Two jewels in the bag. The other six are not going to be trivial, and we need to ensure that the two we've got stay put.

EDIT:

Approval voting because I'm not much fond of Court Wizard and am surprised it has so much traction.

I think this is the most interesting choice.

[X] Stay single. Marry for love.
I am somewhat worried here, but things worked out for Anton this far. Maybe it'll stay that way.

He can definitely dispel, you can't be a magister that unskilled, which means he valued his little ruse more that the dwarf lives he could have saved using more advanced magics. Someone's about to get some very grumpy dwarfs after him, though it's probably not grudge-worthy since he did help some
He might be able to dispel and hiding it. Or he might not be able to dispel and honest about it, because not knowing a particular spell is not the same as being unskilled. Besides, if he did know it, why would he have hidden it? Dispel is relatively simple and journeymen can plausibly know it. No, if he were to hide something to help his ruse, I would have expected it to be his fiendishly complex spells like Law of Gold. Now that's something journeymen shouldn't know.

Dispelling is not a spell per say, it's a raw skill in manipulating the winds of magic that someone with mastery is very unlikely to lack.

*Insert sudden screechmarks* I did some re-reading and Anton already knows Julia. He introduced us and they are already good friends!
@BoneyM To our knowledge, was Julia Massif betrothed or had a lover?

Asarnil option, huh?
The chances are slim, but it is not the most unlikely pairing this thread has seen.

It would explain everything regarding how Anton managed to find a dragon!

Think of it this way: If whoever Anton ends up with turns out to be horrible, we can do our duty as big sister and make sure they... Stop.

*and yes, we are the big sister right now shush Anton you don't get a say in it

[x] Court Wizard

I am going to stay out of the marriage vote, mainly because I am honestly not sure where I stand on the matter. But I do like the Court Wizard option, since there is going to be a lot of weird nonsense popping up that we can deal with, for instance the mutated super troll from the Gotrek and Felix book.
