If you are voting to kill the goblins, why not vote to go where there are the most goblins, aka Grand Avenue?

Given the sort of shit greenskins ingest, I'm not terribly hyped about wasting time, aka precious dwarf lives without a Terror-inducing beatstick around, on picking up random mushrooms that, for all we know, make good fungus beer... For goblins, that is,

[X] Go to the Spider Caves...
-[x] And learn what you can of the creatures.

- reasoning:
- might be the start of something new (diplomacy or learning since smart spiders)
- spider cavalry but for dwarves like in Forgotten Realms (D&D)
- only goblins can ride spiders is kinda specicist? So gonna try to tame one
- if spiders are dog-smart or smarter they may know the value of allying with dwarves
- spiders are cool
- spider silk for a new kind of trade good and armor (like what drow wear and in real life)
- spider pet as an assistant and mount?
- our pet wolf might need another animal friend
- our beast wizards may be interested in this

Ok, I think you're being way too influenced by other fiction.

Spiders are beasts, they are not that smart, and Dwarves will never, ever touch them, and I would never put our wolf within reach of a spider's fangs.

[X] Continue downwards to the Grand Avenue.

Looks like there are no fires for us to put down here let's check other places.

[X] Continue downwards to the Grand Avenue.

The situation here could've been a mess close quarters fighting, but it looks under control. Let's continue.

Early days but it looks like Mushroom voters are in risk of, well, splitting the Mushroom vote between collecting funky 'shrooms and killing funky 'shroom defenders.
I don't think that's an issue.

-Join Attack and -Collect Samples are subvotes, so if the majority says MUSHROOMS but are divided on the details, the question isn't MUSHROOMS vs NOT MUSHROOMS, it's 'OK kids we're going to the MUSHROOM PALACE, what do you want to do when we get there?'

Not at all, the only reason to stick around is potentially valuable mario shrooms. If we're killing shit, hit the Grand Avenue instead of killstealing.

Belegar's a lil sour on that

The expedition in general has been making tremendous progress. I mean, look how far we've progressed in the span of a single day. It's quite impressive, particularly since this is meant to have been a siege.

I wouldn't say 'killstealing'.

They're 'giving better than they're getting' at least mushroomwise but considering how many goblins there are compared to how few dwarves, that sort of attrition warfare isn't really a good thing.

Moving in to help polish off defenders in one place faster would free up troops, who could then concentrate more force against the spiders. (Or the rampaging horde of murderous squigs, because I think that distant whistling means the other boot is going to arrive danger close any minute now.)

EDIT: though it's possible I'm interpreting it pessimistically. I kind of get the read that Dwarves here have a great big helping of stiff upper lip, and I might be overcorrecting for that.

I disagree with you there. Dwarves are conservative sure, but really disregarding a resource because dirty grobi uses them? If that's true then dwarves shouldnt eat mushrooms but whatever floats your boat.

It would be terribly ankward if we later find out some epic unit stomped the dwarves hard in the grand avenue while we were up here chipping away at redoubts and playing field botanist.

My general thinking regarding priorities is: as long as we're in the 'war' part of reclaiming K8P we should focus on making the biggest contributions at the frontlines. Its like a massive Dwarf influence fire sale and we should eek every single bit of it while we can. There'll be plenty of time to play with R&D when the hold is retaken, and probably out of some sweet lab we bought in part due to all that banked reputation too.

Dwarfs are here to score kills, there preventing major losses, which they like, and cakewalks, which are Disappointing

Huh, if Chiselwards aren't a troll den, where is it then? Hangars, breached temple, armoury or a fresh-dug cavern are possibilities.

Not a poor line of thinking, but to be fair Ulthar is a ranger and he's more open to what gets the job done, and has demonstrated such an attitude.

[X] Continue downwards to the Grand Avenue.

Aight, that's 3 of 8 theaters of battles that appear to be under control. That leaves the Grand Avenue as the place that really needs to hold while everyone else finishes clearing out their respective patches.

Lets help out in the holding action.

-[X] And collect samples before the Dwarves destroy them all.

You know I think it says something about how much people have been memeing Mathildes combat skill that after all that analysis and Boney straigh up saying that if we are ever in pitched battle we likely did something wrong, it still seens the majority are still voting based on where they think this beatstick is most desperately needed.

We know that as good as Mathiald is with her greatsword just entering the fray swinging it don't tend to bring her most meaningfull contributions, and the Chiselwards are so much more interesting and full of oportunities for her to do waht she does best, the mistery Squig farms, the likely strategic source of enhanced goblins and the unknow spiders, all interesting objectives we are well positioned to not only uncover actionable information but also exploit for long term benefits.

So I want to go for that because that is playing more to her whole skillset, I find the potential results more interesting and I doubt we can cause greater change rushing into battle than puting our specialties to the task.
