@DragonParadox, do we know how Rakshasa reincarnation works, given our Knowledge (Arcana & Religion), along with having Tor the Rakshasa as a vassal?

Will our friend the Maharaja Rakshasa be reincarnating to face us again, or are they demoted like Devils are?

They can be demoted, even broken up into lesser souls so one major Rakshasa can reincarnate as multiple lesser fiends, however it is by no means guaranteed to work one way or another and depends on both the strenght of will of the one being killed and the favor of the Bloodstone Emperor.

I'd be fascinated to learn about the hierarchy of the Bloodstone Emperor's court one day. They're as much as priority as knowing about the hierarchy of Hell, even if Asmodeus is a far more dire threat.

Well, it makes sense that Baator's, albeit complicated, is somewhat of a known quantity, because they've remained pretty much what they are for thousands upon thousands of years.

Whereas the Bloodstone Emperor's holdings are in the Shadow, so every aspect of his rule is hidden from the world and history.

We need some more votes, ya'll.

Man, it feels weird to be getting likes from things almost ten thousand pages (and two years!) ago.

Makes me feel old :p

Feeling old is becoming my new normal. Not so much physically (except for all the gray hair I'm getting), but mentally. I think I might already be on the cusp of becoming a grumpy old man.

Pretty soon I'll be shouting at the neighborhood kids to get of my lawn... :o

@TotallyNotEvil @TalonofAnathrax

New challenge!

You are a Level 20 Warrior, Aristocrat, Expert or alternatively Commoner. You can't pick Adept unfortunately, but by ROB-Fiat you can take Wedded To History as a free feat for this challenge, and why wouldn't you? You'll be needing it.

Every year you can retrain one of those levels to the corresponding equivalent of Fighter, Noble, Rogue or Monk (haha!). Unchained allowed, because why not? You suffered through a year of having even one level as a Commoner, let alone multiple. :V

The year is 114 BC, Valyria has Fallen and magic has gone out of the world. You appear in a major city with small purse of coinage in whatever denominations or origin you desire so long as it is native to Planetos, enough to feed yourself for a month, and keep a roof over your head for that timeframe AND charter a ship to most places, exercising common sense. A trip to Yin from Volantis might be somewhat with reasonable expectations but a Westerosi captain would balk at it. They don't know that route and it will take you a while to find someone willing to take you, and they will probably charge you an arm and a leg.

But they'll get you there... maybe. Pirates and bad weather (and war, lots of war) could get in the way. You can have period and culturally appropriate clothing to sell any guise you wish, but you can't have a whole wardrobe. Whatever you can pack in one bag is the rule. Finally if you took Ride as a skill you can have an old nag to take you somewhere, though I wouldn't ride her too hard as you'll wear her out.

The goal is to survive until 289 AC, or a little over four centuries, and you have to be involved in local events. You don't have to take quite "Daemon Targaryen jumps off his dragon's back and shoves his sword into Aemond's eye socket" level risks, but you have to actually attempt to keep things interesting. Attempts to either play it completely safe and stay hidden or uninvolved will result in events coming to you sooner rather than later, and not in a way you'll be able to predict, but otherwise you'll be free to take your time to plot out your course in Good Faith clause of the challenge so long as you make the attempt.

You don't have any special ability beyond the mundane to change your appearance, so disguises are useful, and eventually someone might figure out that you're some kind of unaging man (or woman, no judgment) of mystery and will investigate. Probably invasively. Makeup can go a long way here, unsurprisingly, but you will probably have to deal with the pain in the ass process involved with forging a new identity in strange lands at some point, doubtlessly multiple times.

Edit: 36pt Buy start. Go nuts.

For all of the entertainment you have provided, you are rewarded with the opportunities:

1) Retrain all of your Fighter levels into Martial Adept ones. Pathfinder, 3.5, custom PrC handforged by ROB!TNE. Go crazy, but probably not any crazier than Ser Richard would be if he had access to Path of War disciplines. Which is already pretty crazy.

2) You get to retrain ONE level into a Tier 1 class. You have the same latent potential as any of the other characters, so later on PrCs are a-go, but can only thereafter either accumulate the requisite XP to train the equivalent level (no small task with your ginormous LA) or alternatively retrain one for free every year until you've retrained all of the ones you had from beforehand.

3) Matched levels with Viserys AND matched Mythic Rating. You're probably going to be at least level 18 and MR 2 within less than four years, and you can do any kind of build you feel like pretty much beyond changing your race. The DM has left the building and couldn't care less even if he was there. Hell, he/she/it welcomes what you have planned. And best of all from 289 AC onwards you don't have to do anything special to enjoy the benefits of this or any of the above two. No getting involved with the main cast or the plot. Plane Shift to Armun Kelisk the moment you can from your carefully prepared island retreat in the Summer Isles the moment you can if that's what floats your boat.
What kind of stats do I have to work with, are we using a standard point buy system, or do I have to stat myself based on what I think my stats would be in real life?

So, I was lv 20 before, does my level go down with this? Or I just match MR?

And doesn't it make option 2 superfluous?

You were level 20 before, but now you're Level 1. However, you don't have to worry about advancement. Viserys advances rapid-fire pace and is probably in the lead of 9.5/10 characters in the entire Quest, and gained 2 MR within the same year.

The real reward of this option is there are no constraints on your build patterns, barring race change.

Option #2 is similar, but ROB is still watching and expects you to play about "fair", which basically means you can take PrCs as good as the ones made for the Companions/Viserys et. al. No game-breaking tremendous cheese. However you're a Level 20 PC by this point, and will steadily replace it with better class levels without any work done. In some ways that's a nice reward, in others you're actually fairly limited against the various threats, rivals and obstacles ASWAH represents. You can of course go adventuring to gain XP, though it will be slow going.

Edit:

Also I feel I should point out before anyone else does, "How does any of the four centuries of meddling guarantee Viserys will appear as they were?"

ROB is meddling, just assume things will work themselves out... though it might be a little unusual depending on how much you tried to deliberately change. For example he might not begin his story in Braavos.

Think of things this way : you are a level 20 character. After 4 centuries, you are certainly in a position of great importance, power and responsibility.
And suddenly you become level one again, losing most of your skill points and 5 stat points.
That looks like an utterly horrible situation, no matter what way you look at it. It's also super risky, depending on how well you did to grab trustworthy allies and/or gear.

Sure, the promise of being massively OP within a few years is nice... But you're accepting a massive risk for that, when you could simply retrain level per level. And "no stronger than Viserys" is already pretty insanely powerful. His PrC is arguably better than fucking Dweomerkeeper, which is just insane.

I'd go for a Stoneblessed 3 / Wizard 1 / Shadowcraft Mage 3 (beyond that, all other levels are irrelevant). That allows for infinite spells per day, with 50% of them being miracles. I can achieve this almost instantly, simply by retraining a level into Chameleon and retraining three feats (Heighten Spell, Residual Magic, Extra Slot), and then level-draining + Restoration myself to retrain levels super fast. Perfectly RAW legal.
... Maybe too cheesy for ROB, there. Ah well, I have 400 years to think this through.
