@Goldfish @egoo @Duesal Also, likely we will want to make that trip down to Vialesk still, to hire those mercenaries (and hopefully a crafter guild). At this point a small host (5,000+ or so) of low CR aquatic capable fighters could have their combat capabilities greatly increased with some choice wide area buffs, good 'mundane' equipment (VS) and a ton of aquatic plant creatures to kill larger elder spawn/krakens/aboleths and whatnot. It would be enough to contest a city assault at least, until we could reinforce it.

If we're really lucky, we can hire some strong PCs to help in the decapitation strike on underwater fortresses by offering commiserate pay + salvage rights, as well as a bonus for each objective completed. After all, even failure to destroy their target would tie it up for us until we could get to it.
Yeah, Vialisk is my personal priority for next month. It offers a lot of potential goodies that could be hugely helpful.

Really need that extra guild of crafters, if we can swing it. And even a smattering of minor enchanters I wouldn't turn my nose up at.

The small-time two-bit mercs would be helpful. It would guarantee a chance to intervene in at least one attack on a city at least.

PCs would be a godsend, though, groups of people capable of taking down a fortress through copious WBL abuse from us if necessary, careful planning, and the number 1 motivator of any adventuerer.

Loot.

Are we going to leave Gith to attacking Illithids (with some support) while we busy ourselves taking out Tiamat and taking over Westeros, or something?
Like @Crake said, it depends on how much support we can expect from the Githzerai. Personally, I want it to be a full on assault, us and our Companions, our Constructs and Wyverns, the Moonchaser(s), etc., and other allies, all acting simultaneously to wipe Planet is clean of the Deep Ones.

  • [X] Plan "Githzerai, we choose you!"
    -[X] In order of priority;
--[X] We've located where we believe most, if not all, Deep One bases are in our realm. There are too many of them for us to attack simultaneously, however, which is where our immediate need for Githzerai assistance comes into play. We would like to hire as many teams of powerful Githzerai combatants as are available to take part in a series of raids aimed at sweeping the Deep Ones from our home. If need be, this would be a coordinated effort working with other Githzerai Monastaries.
---[X] We also need specialists who train our own forces in how to best fight against such foes in the future. It would be ideal if we could even establish our own tradition of training those rare individuals in our empire who might be gifted with Psionic power.
----[X] We have gathered a truly incredible amount of lore since stepping out into the Planes, lore which we would be happy to share with our allies, but we have found precious little pertaining to the Deep Ones and the strange powers of the mind they wield. We would pay well for whatever new Psionic and/or Deep One lore the Githzerai can provide.
-----[X] Although our realm grows, and increases in magical power almost on a daily basis, we have no one able to craft items of Psionic power. Not only would we be willing to purchase useful items they could sell us, we would also like to hire any Psionic crafters who might offer us their services.
-[X] In exchange, we would be willing to exchange information and lore of equal or greater value (nothing proscribed or confidential), not to mention pay handsomely. Our realm is rich in foodstuffs and raw materials, and we can provide innumerable types of quality finished goods, including enchanted items and spellcasting services. We can also pay in planar currency, if desired.

Strategically I'm not sure if we'll be able to strike that far and fast, but I believe cleansing the Narrow Sea and parts of the Shivering Sea closest to our holdings might be possible. It would really leave the Deep Ones in a lurch to interrupt our following actions.

We will also need to basically throw the Golden Company into chaos, since they will not have much opportunity to do damage to us once we have Westeros well in hand. It will be hard to gain legitimacy if Viserys steals a march on him first.

If we can inflict enough damage, they might give up on Planetos for a while, or abandon it entirely as a resource sink.

We can fit the Golden Company almost at will. Some of the leadership might escape, or simply not be present, but their army itself is living on borrowed time.

I'm generally hopeful to take GC out in next month or two

We have all but prepared to attack Tiamat herself, have lots of forces ready, and need but to:
1) Deal with Yi-Tish in a way that would leave GC's forces nowhere to run/hide.
2) Look into their Fortress (oh hi Warforged Wiazard who helped build it, mind sharing the plans..?)
3) Finish reparations to fuck Timmie over (the Worm RA this turn, and another RA encounter her "Dragon" Domain next turn).
4) Grab a Champion/Avatar of hers alive.
5) ????????
6) Profit

Bonus points for using the skulls of her previous aspect we shanked as a "rage button".
We do have DPs WoG that she'd go apeshit if we turn those into latrines like we thought once, after all :V

The only trouble of dealing with her, of course, is that we want to capture as many powerful servants as possible (since she regains almost all power invested in them otherwise), and them running away is a very distinct possibility when we have 2(!) separate targets to attack at once.
And both have level-appropriate bullshit on hand, yes.

Cleansing the Narrow Sea is actually very achievable as I have theorised previously it is entirely reasonable to control the Southern border that is the Stepstones, the Northern border is The Shadow of the Wall which we have previously had confirmed to extend into the Narrow Sea.

With those two book ends we should be able to empty the Narrow sea sooner or later, there will still be incursions from overland or through magic transportation but that requires great exposure in land transit or locks them into committing mobile champions rather than a host of Skum etc. beneath the waves.

@everyone, Runelore originates from Aberrations.

Y'all think we could offer it here as a bargaining chip?

Much as it is a secret for our Empire, Gith seem one of (very) few factions which would not only utilise it in a way we wholesome would approve of, but also won't have much potential of harming us with (since our Empire is in a shaky position yet, but their numbers are far too few, for all the PCs they have, to hurt us via amassed production. Nor are they residing anywhere near our interests).

As a much later part of our negotiations if at all. I'd only accept something absolutely fantastic in exchange for runelore. We are not tossing out our biggest card for something mere money can buy.

Fair, although I'm not sure if there's much of anything our money can buy us here - Gith aren't lacking in things, and they are all but a race of PCs.

We'll see.
If Runelore is what it takes to get a contingent of them fighting Illithids for us, I won't hesitate

The fact that they do visit interplanar markets with regularity means that money will have worth to them. These aren't Fey, they will take regular currency if only to add it to a war chest.

War is always gonna cost ya and a great deal of it is disposable/single/limited use whether it's alchemical products or scrolls and wands.

I wouldn't focus on areas, like the Narrow Sea.

What's important first and foremost are the strategic objectives.
We have to destroy the slave-breeding grounds, we have to get their weapon-research facilities.

Cleaning up minor fortresses and villages just because they are near our holdings is a distant secondary objective next to crippling their ability to wage war on Planetos.
