How does Viserys feel knowing his city has now just grown incrementally larger than either Gulltown or White Harbor, two of only five cities in Westeros?
How big is Braavos? We do have canon sources which state that Volantis is over 1 million people in population size.He does not really use either of those as benchmarks so it has not occurred to him. Now when SD will get close to Braavos or Volantis it will be a different matter.
Please collect some asbestos too.You know what, let's keep it simple for now. This place won't suddenly disappear and we don't really need to store over 5,000 tons of mercury at home when the Moonchaser is still a while away.
[X] Planeshift back to SD to pick up the fused basalt containers you prepared for this, each one large enough to contain 1m³ of mercury. Dip them in the lake as Huge Half-Dragon to fill them up and put the lid on. Once all 40 vessels are filled, for a total of 540 metric tons of mercury, seal them up with Stone Shape, shed the outer layer to remove clinging mercury and Planeshift them all back to a wide open field away from SD. Use cleansing spells to make sure that the outsides of the containers are safe to handle. Then store them all in a prepared cavern a bit away from the city.
That's enough for 21 fighters with a bit left over.

Edit: Might not be canon, but seems accurate enough.
Sure
On the dragon inheritance point, there is no such thing as a part-metallic. Dragon inheritance is more arcane than that. When two dragons of differing breeds come together their child is as much born of Tiamat the Many Hued and Bahamut the Platinum Dragon as they are of their own parents.
Thus the hatchling's inheritance will be split roughly so:
- 25% that it will be of the mother's kindred
- 25% that it will be of the father's kindred
- 50% that it will be any sort of dragon among all of those that have ever been.
GRRM cannot into math.
Actually, both Braavos and Volantis should be larger. Originally, Diomedon used a different method to estimate population figures and I've been sticking with it for everything else.
Those "canon" numbers assume pretty broken demographics.
I don't remember that. How much was it?It's not like GRRM is good with numbers... *remembers enormous quantity of gold spent in canon on a knife and a weekend with high end courtesans*
10,000 Gold Dragons spent on whores, wine roast swan and 'other excesses' in the course of a few days. Short of eating the coins I have no idea how he could have managed it.
Of course he is, he made it to the Senior Council. You don't get to be as good at magic as that, and the kind of magic doesn't matter as much at that point, to be dangerous.
But then again, not everyone is Merlin/Gramps/Rashid.

Ah, nevermind. You meant the cities themselves. Those should be at 0.8-1 million for Braavos and 1.2-1.4 million for Volantis.
I'm using the Atlas of Ice and Fire as a baseline, but the numbers for the hinterlands are hilariously low there.
Yes, though I didn't ask DP yet how much we can reduce the needed ships that way. Once the northern trunkline is done (we got 30% of the second bridge there done this month), we basically control every bit of water that isn't between us and Dorne. Also, @DragonParadox, if you look at @Azel's latest Poltical, Geographical, and so on, maps, you will see where our infrastructure currently is, in case you wanted to reflect upon that in the narrative more.
If that's accurate, it should mean that the road network extends at least through that western tip of the Disputed Lands from the Bridge leading to Tyrosh (which links the city with the road network), down south and west, over a bridge upon the canal cutting 100 meters wide to allow ships through.
Also, @Azel, did we still plan on eventualy replacing the patrolling ships with tolling stations/ports in the middle point between bridges and islands which ships pass under?

About a 30% decrease in ships needed to keep the tool up sounds fair. It would be more but the volume of traffic is ever-increasing.
Danar Crowl@Duesal Have we recruited any PCs over the last several months that we never got around to statting? I know a sheet was built for Alas. We're criminally underutilizing at least half a dozen people over level 6, so... I would not be surprised.
The Dragon King shall the thwarted by the power of canals! Will we be able to shift them away completely once we've connected from the Broken Arm to the DL? I mean at that point we would control all access north and south (which is terrifying strategic power in a way that dragons aren't, come to think of it...)
