"OHOHOHOHOHO, THAT IS VERY FUNNY DRAGON-FRIEND. THERE IS PLENTY OF HAMMER TO GO AROUND--TO CRUSH YOUR BRITTLE BONES, ONE SCALY LIGAMENT AT A TIME--USING THE POWER OF FRIEND-BROTHER-SHIP!"
On that note, Episode 26 just dropped and it's like 46 minutes long.
a Devil (our Erinyes whose name I keep forgetting)
Should probably get around to that.

So, now that I'm somewhat sick of looking at dinosuar statblocks, the TL;DR of it is:
- Allosaurus have great costxbenefit when it comes to CRxDeadliness.
- Ankylosaurus are bloody great.
- If we have to have anything Gargantuan or larger, let's shoot for Diplodocus from the get go as they are silly good.
@edit: also, Battletitans.

Speaking of cool stuff we should see about somehow getting our hands on maps made by Summer Islanders.
The west coast of Sothoryos is only known to men from Westeros and Essos for about a few days' sail south of Basilisk Point. Some suspect that the Summer Islanders, who live comparably nearby, have actually explored and mapped these shorelines much further south than is known to the rest of the world. The Summer Islanders, however, jealously guard their charts and do not share any of this knowledge. While the northern coasts of Sothoryos are jungles filled with plagues, massive dangerous animals, and savage tribes, it is possible that unknown portions in the further south are actually home to peaceful civilizations - but the Summer Islanders do not want to alert the slavers from Essos to the existence of new targets to attack. Others speculate that the vague rumors about the unexplored regions of Sothoryos - that they contain fierce lizard-men, eyeless cave-dwellers, giant vampire-bats (which can drain a man of all blood in minutes), and gargantuan apes who dwarf the largest of giants - are just stories that the Summer Islanders spread to scare away any slavers from attacking the actually normal human societies of the region.[18] There are said to be "certain indications" that the great explorers and cartographers of Koj know much more about the western coasts of Sothoryos than they have shared with outsiders, and have mapped them to the very bottom of the continent.[7]

@TotallyNotEvil, still thinking that we should have some Troodons. Giving Vee an easy starter probably means she will have an easier time with other species.

What would you suggest as a horse alternative instead of the Triceratops?

Even if they're lower utility, Troodons are explicitly easier to train up in bulk. They'd be a boon for any forces in Sothoryos. Every Legion garrison should have a dozen or more.

Even if they're apparently lackluster, they can always be bolstered. Coat their horns with enchanted adamantium or Valyrian Steel.

Pretty much this. Are they frontliners? No. What they are a pack-mules crossed with a clever dog.

[X] Duesal

Trusting you to magpie properly.

Keep also in mind that a Triceratops with metal horn-sheats would benefit from Magic Army and similar buffs.

For horses? Something not huge and without spikes on its back. Pachycephalosaurus have fairly low CR of 4, are herd animals, Large, and have pretty high Strenght. A tad slow at 40 ft.

It's that or Megaraptors, which change drastically from 3.5 to PF in that the former has INT 2, and the latter INT 6. Those would be great.

Troodons are cheap Dino-dogs, really. Not much of a mule with 11 STR, but I suppose it would be better in Sothoryos than a common animal.

Now, if you want some super-mount type of deal, depends on what you are looking for. Putting a giant or Minotaur to ride on its back and charge, the Triceratops aren't bad. They are just meh stand alone, they do charging ok.

Note, the 3.5 Triceratops is a good deal better than the PF, especially if you retrain those feats

But for a hookah kind of deal, definitely the Diplodocus. You can put a bunch of minotaurs wielding Greatcrossbows on them.

A more controler-style huge Dino mount would be the Ankylosaur. Why? Save vs Daze every time he hits.

Of course, the ultimate animal mount is probably a Battletitan...

Then I would go for one Allosaurus, one Triceratops to get some experience with them, a batch of Parasaurolophi, a batch of Troodons and maybe a Comsognathus or two, if we find any.

So mostly smaller and herbivorous species, with the Triceratops as a trial run for the more ornery beasts and the Allosaurus to get some experience with the carnivorous kinds. And because we need a Bloodfeast for Soft-Strider.

[X] Try to round up dinosaurs
-[X] General plan is to use Jungle Mind and select Dinosaur as our animal type to track all the dinosaurs easily, ambush the dinosaurs we want and then turtle them. Then proceed to mark on their shells what kind of dinosaur they are, and store them in the bag of holding while being very careful that they have enough air and are fed and watered as you go about your task.
--[X] If necessary, use Merciful Searing Firedarts or Firebrand to stun/knock out the larger dinosaurs for proper turtling, or to get full groups of the smaller ones.
--[X] If necessary, then at the end retrieve Irony to petrify all the turtles for easy transport. If not, then no need to bother, Irony can stay with Vee's group.
-[X] Targeted dinosaurs:
--[X] One Allosaurus as proof of concept to train as a warbeast and a mount
--[X] One Triceratops as proof of concept to train as a warbeast and a mount
--[X] One Ankylosauruses as proof of concept to train as a warbeast
--[X] A couple Parasaurolophuses to keep company with the one we've already got (we'll eventually find a use for them)
--[X] Whatever Troodons can be gathered to train as dino-dogs and companions that can easily survive in Sothoryos
--[X] Whatever Comsognathuses can be gathered to train as Familiars

I actually want a lot more, but it's more fair to Vee if she's given a month or two to figure out all the dinosaurs and how they work before we start bringing them in in bulk. On the bright side, the Ankylosaurus can probably be trained as a legitimate warbeast in time for Lys. :D We can maybe add an enchanted item to its clubbed-tail?

The smaller ones, however, are far less of a hassle to gather in bulk.

Before y'all get carried away on the Dinosaur train, please keep in mind the logistics involved in feeding them. The herbivores generally need to consume a huge amount of plant matter on a daily basis. The carnivores won't be any easier to keep fed, either.

-[X] Teleport to Vee's group and retrieve Irony from them for the task (while there, also drop off their favorite meals cooked for them from Sorcerer's Deep and congratulate them on killing the Kongamato)
Vee daisy-chain teleported them back to SC to leave the dragon corpse.
--[X] A couple Parasaurolophuses to make a herd with the one we've already got (we'll eventually find a use for them)
Three don't make a herd.

170lbs is max load for them. A mule has a max load of 690lbs.

These are Dino-dogs.

It was already considered, but ultimately these things really can't put a dent in our finances. Not only are we sitting on a surplus of food (especially with that Verdant Fields ritual), we happen to own multiple city states at this point. If we can feed Valyrian Dragons with little issue, and if we can feed other large magical beasts, then dinosaurs should barely even register.

This would be more of a concern if we were still a poor and tiny island kingdom.

The Disputed Lands is a great breadbasket, and we are not even pushing it to the furthest edge of its production. I think we'll be fine.

I know, and we saw the Kongamato there when we went home. This is just taking a moment to congratulate them.

EDIT: Afterwards, to my knowledge, they went right back to Sothoryos.

Eh, alright. Not a big deal, the point is that Vee told us we had to get companions for it.

Will clarify, then.

This. Food will not be an issue here.

Irony can just go straight to petrifying the smaller ones, though.

Bringing the expedition group food is weird and not really appropriate for the locale. Really, retrieving Irony at all seems superfluous for the relatively small number of Dinosaurs we plan to collect. Petrified Dinosaurs cannot be turtled, and thus remain at their normal size, which makes Teleporting them back to SD much more complicated.

If we're already planning to turtle the Dinosaurs, hitting them with Elemental Fire Darts and Firebrand spells is unnecessary.

By the way, can we put these two enchantments on Aradia's dragonbone bow?

Speed (+3 bonus)
When making a full attack action, the wielder of a speed weapon may make one extra attack with it. The attack uses the wielder's full base attack bonus, plus any modifiers appropriate to the situation. (This benefit is not cumulative with similar effects, such as a haste spell.)
Moderate transmutation; CL 7th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, haste; Price +3 bonus.

Distance (+1 bonus)
This property can only be placed on a ranged weapon. A weapon of distance has double the range increment of other weapons of its kind.
Moderate divination; CL 6th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, clairaudience/clairvoyance; Price +1 bonus.

Alright, taking out the food. Just thought it'd be appreciated by them, but it doesn't have to happen.

The reason Irony is being retrieved is because of the way DP has ruled on teleport, and due to the fact that we don't have unlimited spellslots. If we want them to not count as alive, then we need them either bottled or petrified. Smoky Confinement uses up a Blood Wish, and we can't waste a Blood Wish for every single dinosaur we plan to collect. Thus, petrifying the turtles and stuffing the turtles in a bag of holding (after marking the species of the dinosaur on the turtle shell) is the most convenient option and saves the most spells.

I don't question the expense of feeding them, but rather the logistics of it. It's simple enough to accommodate them in SD, but any larger Dinosaur taken out in the field is going to be an absolute hassle to keep fed.

I would honestly recommend just making them Collars of Sustenance or something along those lines to obviate the need for feeding them at all.

Okay, now that's definitely a fair complaint. The collar of sustenance is probably the smartest way to go about this.

Aradia's bow already has the Distance enchantment on it. Putting the Speed enchantment on it would be pretty expensive, especially considering she already knows the Haste spell. I would rather put Seeking and Phase Locking instead, if we were going to make that kind of investment in her weapon.

If the plan is to petrify the turtled Dinosaurs, we shouldn't retrieve Irony until after we've captured our full load. That way we don't have to worry about keeping him out of trouble while we are Dinosaur hunting.
