Super Robot Quest

Which means not rushing through it.
Cost: 2 RP Locked (2 RP Locked Next Turn)
Duration: 3 Turns
I swear we were a turn shorter than that, but I may be misremembering.

The QM will accept write-ins for names, personalities, and preferred fighting styles, subject to QM approval. I will put it up to a vote, and then translate that into stats. Enjoy!

The GGG Brigade with a twist!

"Okay," he sighed as he approached the ramped entrance to the Maintenance Bay. "So asking him about regular stuff isn't working. These guys apparently don't have hobbies like we do

Kausen in general or bad guys only? In fact, I'm surprised that Zulu wasn't simply kept offline when not in duty.

Doesn't respond very well to video games or comics aside from educational stuff

What do they identify as "educational"?
IN any case, they're a very work-focused species.

"...readjust the capacitor fourteen degrees when x = 93.45," he heard a familiar voice mutter. Looking up, he saw the diminutive form of Architect weaving his way absentmindedly through the throngs of maintenance workers. By now, everyone had learned to just get around Architect, especially when he was in one of those trances. "Readjust the welding on the aft structure? But-"

Technobabble always works! When it doesn't, Xcom-style interrogation.

People in any military in the world love a good competition. Not so much talent yet, but you and your staff are getting ideas to cultivate that. One Turn Remaining.

Incoming mecha wrestling!

wonder if I'll find them here, he thought, rubbing a hand through spiky black hair that refused to stay down. Not like I'm going to get along with the old man's project. Their last meeting hadn't exactly been cordial, but at least they were on speaking terms...somewhat. Even if the last few years' of crazy meant he was constantly kept busy.

Anime protagonist detected! May or may not be related to not-Kabuto from the other Institute.
By the way, the last Mazinger movie was... Okay. I expected better.

Sam is now more interested in what exactly the Psychic Energy is leaving behind...

Watch out with discovering psychic parasites.

(A measure of time that is scoffed at by Patch, but he remains respectfully quiet otherwise)

We still have to compare notes, you know.

what the heck this thing can do for us in tangible terms aside from really fancy and really effective DRM protection."

Hey, it's better than that. DRM actively fucks the user over, sometimes even after uninstalling the product. Meanwhile, I doubt the C-Crystals would complain if their user downloaded a song or two... Right?

>Experimental frame that can helicopter or jetplane, but not both.
Hrrrm. If you guys let this fellow lie fallow long enough...

Hmm I wonder who's kid is this?

From that link, I found the Crunchy Frog skit, so have a non-ironic thanks for that. And a Like rating.

Glancing upwards, the young man through the cafe windows
Looks like a missed word.

Chubby, Chucky and Chunky.

Fighting styles: One can take (and/or dodge) continuous damage, while grinding down the enemy with his steady strikes. Would be considered a DPS in game terms, a D.o.T. variety. Extra feature: Sturdy.
The second one manipulates the environment, harasses the enemy, provokes them, or even wrestles with them. All to force the enemy expose their weakpoint. A Debuffer in game terms. Extra feature: Tow cables.
The third one charges the enemy, gets shot... And then plays dead and shoots the enemy in the back. And then plays dead again, and/or scurries off, having the enemy second-guess and double-check their rear for potential cheap shots. A Tank in game terms. Extra feature: Modular.
They have also requested identical chassis, to additionally confuse those who might have learned their styles.

Personality: queitly mischeavous.

The GGG Brigade with a twist!
Inspiration GET!

Name: The Twist, Mister Twister, The Charmin' Force-a-Nature (Self-Proclaimed)

Apparently, right about when the three Mechanical Men were concieved, the personnel in K-Vats facility has made a controversial discovery. They have found empirical proof to the fact that even Thunderstruck, when left on Repeat indefinitely, starts to get on one's nerves. To avoid armed riots, a ReMix Shift has been instituted: for several hours a week, the music used to grow the K-Materials would be set to anything other than Metal. The playlist would be set and approved by a non-partial third party... Or whoever is on Graveyard Shift on weekends. One budding AI personality became a regular listener of this ReMix Shift. It's particular favourites were the old genres of music - so old that they'd be called extinct without the invention of MP3 encoding.

Personality: Straightforward, open-hearted. Gives his all when doing things, so sometimes overdoes them as a result. Likes to have some background music on at all moments, but is capable of recognizing Serious Moments as such. When the moments are not Serious, might randomly try to turn them into musical numbers.
Staff impressions: Annoying at times, but at least he's not speaking entirely in puns and koans.

Combat style: Twister's philosophy is to ensure the enemy either isn't shooting, or isn't shooting straight. Using distracting noises, unexpected dance moves, sudden battlecries, or other tricks he disrupts the enemy concentration; with his high mobility and external speakers he does his best to confuse or disorient them. He is capable of fighting one-on-one, but taking down enemies is for his teammates.
Favourite technique: reflecting his theme song off walls to make it seem like he's incoming from a different direction.

Notes: Keeps bugging the Engineering for audio-capable drones, or for upgrades to his own speakers. Or for disco-ball pauldrons.

A three-man crew for the Perseus Support Team, huh?

Idea #1:
Style them after the 00 Gundam Meisters, sans Setsuna. A friendly sniper, a methodological Heavy Weapons Guy, and a calm and quiet pointman.

Idea #2:
Three Musketeers. Brave Athos, jolly Porthos, erudite Aramis. "ALL FOR ONE, ONE FOR ALL! GATTAI!" :D

Not entirely? So, he does it frequently then? You had to take inspiration from the objectively worst character of GGG...
No, he doesn't. He frequently quotes lyrics from a song, though. The point there was to show that it could be worse. And possibly inspire people to come up with their own character.

Had an idea for a sneaky AI personality(gotta have a sneak!), but wound up too late in the day to write it up. Maybe tomorrow if its a slow work day.

Update is likely to come in tomorrow.

And as an side, your Reaction Force rolls - and any miscellaneous updates, such as events - will begin taking place in between Turn Results and the next Turn.

Otherwise, you've still got a bit before the AIs are finalized, but if any particular writeins gain traction I'll throw them in there during their development.

So I'm reading it like: "The deadline for submitting write-ins is before the last turn of their development". How many entries are we allowed?

So I'm reading it like: "The deadline for submitting write-ins is before the last turn of their development". How many entries are we allowed?

I'd prefer if you presented the personalities of the team as a whole. Otherwise we'd be playing a very messy mix'n'match that may or may not mesh together.

While you're free to write as many as you like, I'm only going to accept one set for voting from everyone else.

Turn Three, Year Three Reaction Force/Events
Reaction Force

Rolled: 4!

The first month of operation for the Institute's newfound awareness via the Defense Force Network is uneventful. So far, there is nothing that requires the deployment of a Super Robot to resolve, and you're certainly not going to start by simply barging in. But being allowed to observe everything while things are 'quiet' is advantageous in and of itself. You're not going to be overtly biased on what normally calls for action.

North American District - For the most part, North America has been quiet ever since the dual attacks on San Diego and New York. Rebuilding was concluded about two months ago, and a sense of normality has returned both to the attacked cities and the wider population as a whole. But Defense Force leaders haven't exactly relaxed, particularly due to the Free Brothers raids that continue to occasionally make their way through.

Thanks to cross-referencing data with the Legion, you know for certain that it's the Legion's efforts that are keeping the Free Brothers in check. But some of the incursions and plans of the Free Brothers that were stopped are outright bizarre. Some efforts such as an attack on a coal mine are fairly straightforward; if nothing else, their objectives are staying consistent. But some other plans, if Galbinus is to be believed, would be worthy of Saturday-morning cartoon plots if they weren't so frighteningly close to succeeding. At least one attempt to hijack mass formations of EUDF equipment via transmission of corrupt override codes was already thwarted, along with efforts to build an honest-to-God deathray out of some local monument as a means to hold the locals ransomed until they ponied up energy.

This is your life.

European District - Westphalian activities are slowly starting to escalate after a lull. More and more of the 'walker' prototypes are seeing wider use, a trend that analysts had already predicted before Mercury V was even a thing. But you could also just as easily spin that as them escalating said plan as a direct response to Valiant and the other Super Robots (yours included). Though there has been one high-profile incident - an attempted incursion on the Papal City - Valiant and the MSS are mostly staying on top of them.

To say nothing of the Centurions you and BG Peters have shipped over to the EUGDF forces over there. Engagements are few, but the Centurions are gaining a reputation as a reliable piece of kit, albeit a slow and clunky one. Still better than what they had before, but they are making their presence felt.

Interestingly, aside from a few incursions, the Free Brothers seem to not be bothering with this District as much. And as before, none of Sheol's monsters are to be seen. At least, not here.

East Asian District - If there is an organization who could claim fighting off Kaiju as routine, it would be the Yukimura Institute. Having largely solved their original problem of mobility via closer cooperation with the EUNDF, Hiroki and Mercury V are a regular sight across the District. Multiple Kaiju are now being sighted per incursion, but so far Mercury V has been able to defeat them without too much issue.

Dr. Yukimura did reach out earlier, however. Though they're staying on top of the occasional Kaiju emergence now, the fact that now they're coming in sets of two or three at a time is a worrisome trend to him. While the Free Brothers have not made an appearance, he admits they would be hardpressed to fight off multiple factions at once. Doable, but it wouldn't be clean.

Quiet for now, but it won't stay that way for long.

Earth Union Defense Force - Events

Naval Defense Force - Carrier Chaos - For whatever reason, repair personnel based in Naval Base San Diego were unable to affect meaningful repairs on the critically damaged NDFS Sergey Gorshkov. Following an official investigation, the report released to EUDF personnel with the proper clearance (yourself included, thanks to Anna) concluded that gross mismanagement of resources and personnel were the root causes, even after factoring out collateral kaiju damage. The report goes on further, noting that these problems were already in place long before the kaiju attack, and at least a few admirals in charge of appointing the local officers in charge are facing their own inquiries into the disaster.

Anna appended the report with ill-concealed glee, noting that she and her bosses were trying to get rid of the more obstinate Naval officers for awhile, and that the Intelligence Services was very sure to forward their own findings to the investigators. She also wrote as an off-hand comment, "Don't be surprised if they show up to you, hat in hand, asking for your expertise in fixing the poor old Gorshkov."

Ground Defense Force - A New Prototype - This one took you a bit by surprise, but only in how long it took to actually happen. Apparently another weapons development command somewhat in BG Peters' sphere had gathered as much remaining scrap from the New York attack as they could in order to force production of their own Mecha prototype. Based somewhere along the East Coast, the mecha is being developed as a stepping stone towards building a new line of warmachines to better cope with the threats facing the Earth Union.

At least, that's the official line.

You're not too sure how to react to this, honestly. Peters hadn't mentioned it to you at all, though admittedly you do have enough on your plate already. On top of that, you're just wondering how they're going to solve all the problems you and your team had to face. And you had the bullshit geniuses of Wilde and Henry to get you started, even before the really insane advances K-Class Materials gave you.

Maybe you could have Anna swing by and take a look...

A New Arrival

Anna's reported a person of interest in Gasparton. Normally, you would just smile, nod and pass the report onto Sasaki while carrying on with the rest of your day. But Anna also typically doesn't just leave reports directly on your desk before you even get there; you suppose that's her method of saying,'PAY ATTENTION.'

You soon learn why.

The person's name is Yukimura Jiro. Estranged nephew and only living relative of Dr. Yukimura Rin.

...this could get awkward.

Anna is not entirely sure why he's here, but she's at least figured out why he's not back home. Apparently he and his uncle had some kind of disagreement, and the young man had set out on his own. Reports of his travels across the world were already verified, but his arrival here at Gasparton is a bit strange. Possibly a coincidence, but you and Anna long learned to never just leave it at that.

The only question is, how to approach him?

[] Leave him be. You have other things to worry about, even if this is mildly interesting.

[] Don't approach him, but investigate further for now; see if Anna and her friends can dig up anything further.

[] Approach him directly. Just talk to him, and ascertain why he's here and what he's hoping to do.

Some Assembly Required

Lana is still despondent over how incomplete the Seeker Project turned out to be. Oh, sure, she's learned a lot of lessons on how to approach it in the future, but she is very uncomfortable releasing it as a standalone product, and certainly not one she would be comfortable giving over to the Maritime Expeditionary Corps. She's a bit concerned that you'd be happy with just releasing it as a 1.0 as is, and is pleading for more resources and time to really finish the job.

The authority and the call for this lies with you. You have a lot more projects to complete, but you do understand where she's coming from...and keeping Colonel Bernard on yourside would be a good idea too.

[] It's mostly done. Colonel Bernard may have mixed feelings over this.

[] Invest more time and resources into completing the job. You're not about to leave a job half-baked, and you can feel you're just on the threshold of getting it! This will unlock the following Action next turn:

Not a chance in hell are we leaving this unfinished. Give her all the resources she needs to finish the job.

As if we're going to let a mecha protag go that easily!

Hmm.

Looks at CVN-99 Asuka II from Macross Zero.

Doable I'd think.

Hopefully with a less inane reaction from our faction.

Got to be honest. I've forgotten what the Seeker actually is?
