Super Robot Quest

That ship-girl thing?
No, Takao from D-Frag. The shipgirl Takao is less... Pan-paka-pan.

What's wrong with the super-mode? If we do it early, we won't have to worry about it anymore.
It's just I have a "meh" feeling toward super-modes in general.

The research Steed/Pilum combo doesn't cost 2 RP. What does is creating a fully functional Steed for testing purposes (as well as having a new mech to use). I would like to have it tested now so that we can have a proper vehicle for Jessica.
Hmm. Well, a Pilum is already a fully functional vehicle that Jessica can use. Attaching a motorbike to it... Might or might not make it cooler.

Right, Steeds are the power armor. But... K-Suits already fill that role so what is the point of that action?
Different level of armored I think.
Like K-suits can be an 'underarmor layer' that even normal citizenry might eventually gain access to.
Steed-level armor though, would be at the very least restricted to heavy-duty physical work like construction, if not purely a military thing.

K-Suits are not power armors, but bootlegged Plug Suits instead, so very little protection is offered, if at all. The Steed's alt form is a power armor, which can pilot an airship because the Duo thought it was cool. Watch for the moment the Pilum also transforms into a mechanism that is worn by another mech too.

Pretty much what @Zaealix and @HeavyBane are saying, the K-Suit is more of a piloting aide that's tough enough to withstand small arms and shrapnel; enough to keep the pilot alive, but it's not going to go toe-to-toe with a Westphalian Walker by itself. The Steed COULD go toe-to-toe with a Walker in teams, or with a Char Aznable-style BS pilot (the models may or may not be three times as fast; mask depends on pilot).

Voting will stay up until this evening, but looks like we have two plans that are in the running with @Alectai's leading.

Attaching motorbikes to anything makes it cooler. It's one of the fundamental laws of physics.

This is difficult logic to refute.

Think I'll call the vote here.

Nothing exciting, but nothing spectacularly wrong either. Lana is taking the lead on this project.

ESP Theory - Heavy Investment - "Sam here. So for our last test on this run, we're going to see what happens if we try to route the psychic energy towards different parts of the Super Robot. We'll start with innocuous things like the servos and the limbs, then we'll go on to something crazy. Like the generator."
Cost: 1 RP Locked
Duration: 1 Turn
Chance for breakthrough (2d6, Threshold of 5-6)

Rolled: 2+6!
It...uh, glows. It's doing something to the materials, but we're going to need further testing.

Kaiju Biotechnology - Medium Investment - "Sam here. So we tried the whole 'strengthen K-Scale' with Psychic Energy, and we had two exploding labs. I sure as hell don't have a budget for a third one, so we're testing this one outside, and everyone's wearing a K-Suit."

"So new test while the budget lasts, and within our hypotheses: can we introduce new elements into K-Class directly using Psychic Energy?"

Cost: 1 RP Locked
Duration: 1 Turns
Chance for breakthrough (2d6, Threshold of 5-6), Ivanna is supporting

Rolled: 2+4!

Trying again.

Rolled: 3+6!

Ivanna: It's...actually altering? It works?

Sam: SCIENCE!

SCIENCE!

Kaiju Biotechnology - Medium Investment - Dragon Horn Analysis - "The acidic build-up's stopped; the deep freeze's held it in its tracks. The last sample we had was frozen for almost a year before we started studying it. This is fairly fresh. Let's see what we can find out, boys and girls."
Cost: 1 RP Locked (1 RP Locked Next Turn)
Duration: 2 Turns
Chance for breakthrough (2d6, Threshold of 5-6)

Rolled: 1+6!

Sam here. The fresher you catch the kaiju, the more malleable the samples are. Who knew?

Excellent. General Peters will be happy that we have a second super robot under construction so soon after we completed the first one. Now all we have to do is either find or build something to configure with it. We should also try and build a second dropship for the second Super Robot.

This is difficult logic to refute.

Indeed. Older but still effective example:

- Basic Model - Perseus by itself cannot support the Spark Caliber's energies; requires a Combine Unit to realize the Arc Blade's True Potential. Lightning Blade can be used, but not safely.

How dangerous are we talking about? Could we swap it for the Arc Cannon safely? Actually, once the SR modifications begin, should we try to add more stuff next turn, would the process start over from the beginning for duration purposes, or must we wait until the thing is complete before adding more stuff?

Rolled: 2+6!
Good success! Gains 'Cavalier's Pupil!'

Now Banner hits hard!

Hyper mode unlocked! Hopefully they were wearing hazmat suits. Not that Sam will ever reproduce anyway.

Oh God. Hopefully these were not skin-tight.

Flesh-sculpting for the win!
How long until the Soylent Green is discovered?

Update may be delayed due to not feeling so great at the moment. Resorting to time honored method of water and sleeping it off.

Get well soon boss. Taking care of yourself is more important than the quest. It can wait you cannot. Hell I should know considering the fact that I am still recovering from Open heart Surgery.

@Basarin It just occurred to me. Can we hire one of the Legion members to train our Super Robot Pilots in hand to hand combat when the Pilots are in their mechs? This would give them valuable experience in fighting off hostile Mechs like the freedom brothers.

That's I think the process that results in the Cavalier's Students bonus listed under the Jackal Squadron. They fight and learn from the Kaus until they effectively gain the experience/skills that translate to that buff.

F-finally, I caught up with the latest post...

I've been seeing this quest appearing once every few days on the front page, but never have I expected such an energizing storyline... This is definitely a Super Robot story, makes me remember GaoGaiGar with all the spirits the cast possess.

Anyway, abso-freaking-lutely watched!!
