That's why we're testing.
Because if anything is going to trigger any surprise last minute surprises, it'll be poking it with psychic waves.
It's not in genre for the villain to be able to just wave their crabstick and watch Mazinger fall just because "Oops you went down the wrong tech tree". He might think he can do this, but thinking and reality aren't on speaking terms with mad scientists.

The Energy Shard Processing is 1d6 not 2d6, also is it even possible to add our bonuses to actions that we didn't even take this turn?

It should be 2d6 though? Our Xenotech Baseline has been 2d6 since we got a proper lab.

Nah. A better way to prove our program's ability would be to use our tech to design "smaller," spacecraft.
Who knows? Maybe the greatest subversion is the pilots some 25 year old dude, and not saber-expy.
