That is so, but we are also actually running on simplified rules and fluff most of the time, instead of rolling literal mountains of dice for hundreds of thousands soldiers participating in combat. Don't lean on that too hard.

Concerning speed, IIRC fluff-wise mythical beasts like dragons and various varieties of "Essentially A Magic Horse" might be faster but IDK.

[X] Plan Wizard Shipping

@Exmorri your plan is identical to this next one, but it was posted first.

[X] Plan Rout the Enemy
- [X] [Mathilde] Striking at enemy lines wherever they seem most vulnerable
- [X] [Esbern & Seija] With the Demigryph Knights
- [X] [Panoramia] With Ulthar's rangers
- [X] [Maximilian] With Codrin's archers
- [X] [Johann] With the Siege Engine crews

Approval vote for
[X] Plan Highly Visible Ninja Wizard

I like the possibility of Terror-charges routing shaky enemy units.
I do think Panoramia with the Rangers is the best synergy for her area-denial hijinx.

Edit: OK, 17 makes sense below, too. Popping it at the top.

There's only one difference between this and Plan Highly Visible Ninja or Plan Rout the Enemy: instead of putting Panoramia with the halflings or the rangers, I've put her with the Stirlanders.

While I don't doubt either of the former would be able to take advantage of her skills, both of them are very stealth heavy. This means that they have less need for dispelling, since any spells being thrown around are going to be targeted at what the enemy spellcasters can see and, barring something going bad, neither the rangers nor the skirmishers are going to be in the open. That's just not how they fight. Also, I haven't seen any indication that Panoramia is particularly skilled at stealth, so she might even be a detriment to their effectiveness.

Petrescu's archers on the other hand are going to be in the open and vulnerable to spells and probably flanking too. Max helps with the first, but more dispellers is always good, while Panoramia would help greatly with the flanking problem, since her thorn spells can tangle a charging enemy long enough to get some troops that are a little tougher in the way of them.

I apologise for the plan name. It was the first thing that came to mind with making a second male-female wizard pair.. I also apologise to Johann for not finding him a girlfriend.

Tricky. It could be said that our best use is in the thick with humans, where we can use Torc of Fire to boost their leadership and aspect of dread to break the enemy. It could also be said that our best use is assassinating enemy spellcasters or siege in the dark. It could also be said that we should look after our journeymanlings, who are best utilized with the Demigryfs or winter wolves or archers, respectively. It could also be said that Mathilde has a real trauma about letting her liege-lord be killed in front of her, and the only way to be certain that won't happen is to stand with Belegar.

Boney, could you expound a bit on what Belegar will be doing? I assume some kind of command post.

You've never actually played a game against a Greenskin army, have you? Orcs aren't known for their artillery but goblins are. Seriously, they're nasty and powerful.
Nah. I am aware - now, moreso - that they got glowing recommendations on TT, but I am kind of having trouble imagining how gobbo with wings is actually supposed to measure up to the more traditionally impressive artillery units.

Waagh magic, I guess.

It's not a Magisters role to babysit the Journeymanlings at every turn, they're supposed to be out getting experience after all. Point them in the right direction, guide or help where we can, but we're doing them a disservice to wrap them in cotton wool or play mother hen.

To be honest I put Panoramia with the halflings in hope that it would fire-forge a friendship between little Miss Logistics and the best militant chefs in the world. For this particular battle it is probably the 'worst' of the three options. But I think it is safe enough and might open up future opportunities.

Belegar does not need babysitting.
He might. Night goblins and skaven apparently have some of the best assassins in the business and sabotage is their stock in trade. Assuming the one failure point for the expedition is safe in the back could be the worst kind of hubris and it's the kind of mistake you would only be allowed to make once.

[ ] Sticking close to Belegar, just in case.

Counter-assassin duty. Handy, but not that useful at this juncture. We've barely begun kicking the anthill.

[ ] Mounting your Shadowsteed and fighting with:
- [ ] The demigryph knights
- [ ] The Winter Wolves

Adding another Knight to their numbers. They do fine as it is, but it gives weight if they hit disciplined lines.

[ ] Joining the fighting wherever it's thickest
- [ ] Fighting among dwarves
- [ ] Fighting among humans

We got enough raw numbers that this really isn't needed, though our Torc allows us to rally them if needed.

[ ] Striking at enemy lines wherever they seem most vulnerable

This basically is Mathilde popping up wherever the enemy has some low leadership stacks, breaking out Dread Aspect and then watching them panic before popping out again.
Goblins hate this. As do Skaven.

[ ] Trying to flank the enemy to strike at spellcasters and siege weapons

If there are shamans, we kill shamans. This is one of the roles we're specialized in and likely quite effective at.
Nobody else is really going to do this much. However, we can't actually do a lot to a siege engine on our own, other than murder the crew.

Esbern and Seija:
They are inseperable; Esbern is a dangerous melee combatant and Seija is skilled at assisting friendly animals and sabotaging unfriendly ones.
[ ] With you
[ ] With the Demigryph Knights
[ ] With the Winter Wolves

Either of the knights are fine. They know their thing.
They are pretty good at fieldcraft for stealth, but not magically good at it. Good at fighting, but not at the "punch into enemy and fight in the middle on your own" level

Panoramia:
Her offensive spells make her a terrifying threat at range, as thorned plants burst from the ground and sprout within the enemy.
[ ] With you
[ ] With Titus' skirmishers
[ ] With Codrin's archers
[ ] With Ulthar's rangers

Taking Panoramia with us is reckless, she's a decent fighter, but should not be stuck in.
She's best placed with an archery unit as a source of mobile cover I think. She's fairly sneaky too, with the obligatory fieldcraft.
So Rangers

Maximilian:
His spells make him a supernaturally resilient and accurate archer.
[ ] With you
[ ] With Titus' skirmishers
[ ] With Codrin's archers
[ ] With Ulthar's rangers

If the rangers...he's not that stealthy. Best used stiffening up Codrin's unit in terms of firepower.

Johann:
He can supernaturally guide the efforts of his allies, which has won him a place among the dwarf siege engineers; he can also magically sabotage enemy wepaons.
[ ] With you
[ ] With the Siege Engine crews

Presumably he's sneaky enough to bring with us on siege engine sabotage. Better used here backing up the dwarftillery though.

Mathilde will crush her enemies' low-LD units and drive them before her! She is probably OK without hearing lamentations of their women, though.

Do goblins have women and do we even want to know?

E: Greenskin autopsy seems like it might be an interesting downtime activity.

[X] Plan Highly Visible Ninja Wizard

This plan looks good for the most part but may I suggest putting Esbern and Co with The Wolf Riders instead of the Demygryphs? Mathilde could use further ties with them due to Wolf. Besides, if we get to choose which unit gets caster support (and thereby less casualties), I think choosing the Wolf Riders instead of the Sigmarite Demygryhphs makes a lot of IC and OOC sense.

If someone needs to bleed, better be the Sigmarites.

Don't they follow the Athena stand-in?

It annoyed me that there wasn't a plan that included going off to hunt down spell casters and siege weapons alone. A few cuts of the rope or opening up an artery and bam that problem is gone. Also having Mathilde just suddenly pop up out of nowhere and killing crucial targets with terrifying shadow powers and a massive sword sounds like fun.

Anyway Dwarfs are resistant to magic so I felt it was better to have Panoramia go with the halflings instead.

On top of that, there are those that have answered the call just as you have. The most prominent of all, and a great surprise to you, is that two knightly orders have wordlessly rebuked the Empire as a whole and the Sigmarites especially by joining the campaign wholesale: the Knights of the Vengeful Sun, dedicated to Myrmidia, and the Knights of Taal's Fury, dedicated, of course, to Taal. Both are among the smallest of knightly orders, numbering just a cohort apiece, but both are extremely notable in that they are entirely mounted on demigryphs rather than horses.
Also the Amber wizards have spent a lot of time around the demigryphs, really it just makes sense to have them stay there instead of mucking about.

Edit: changed Codrin to Titus since Codrin's untrustworthy and having wizards unsupervised with traditionalists is a bad idea when the tradition is killing all magic users.
