Previously, I thought that Marksman Petrescu was wary of us because we oversaw the slaughter of thousands of Sylvanian civilians, but it turns out that he's probably wary of us because in his experienced opinion all wizards are about 95% likely to be insane necromancers and 4% likely to explode. Which is, you know, fair. We could still become an insane necromancer or explode, with little indication or warning to anyone else beforehand.

And arranging for the mass deaths of sections of your army that you don't like to benefit the sections of it that you do like is a general's romance. Circuitously asking us to help with it like this is like declaring friendship, but for people who believe that they have the right to judge who lives or dies and that they can steer the fate of armies, provinces, and Empires better than anyone else- which describes not only Mathilde, but also the entire Grey Order!

I like him.

Friendship, Sylvania-style. "Hey, will you help me kill 10,000 of our own guys? The bad half."

As soon as I saw he was sending, 'adventurers' to die all I could think of was a tabletop group complaining about getting all the risky jobs.

@Imrix
There is enough sense for the point to sound semi-convincing, and yet I quite simply cannot find in myself to trust the man who goes "full fourth of my army needs to die" on this alone. I'll be settling on wait and see approach. If Petrescu proves that he is merely cynical, rather than a lunatic, then I'll be happy to be wrong about him.

And at least one voter, namely myself. Well, at least right to judge part.

Sadly, my ability to command armies is limited to "have more and better troops than the enemy and let my subordinates simulation abstraction handle the details".

As the other person arguing against this plan before, if we aren't going against him, then we should be assisting him to keep an eye on it. Better to prevent immense stupidity than to wait and see.

I'll think about it some more later. Now I hopefully get to at least lie with my eyes closed for two hours. That would be really nice.

Well you see.

We kinda already decided to be hands off when Mathilde refused to command the Stirland portion of the army.

This would have been one of the issues we would have had to tackle.

But most of the voters wanted to go full magister, so that's that.

Why start complaining now about how the person who did step up to the position happens to have a different form of leadership than what we could have offered?

We already declined that responsibility. These are the consequences, move on. Focus on being the leader of the mage cadre and do that job correctly. Don't half-ass it by getting involved in the path that was not chosen.

That's my opinion at least.

Because he intends to attempt to get UPWARDS OF 6000 PEOPLE killed. That makes it everyone's priority.

Not that big a concern.

This campaign will kill tens of thousands of the army we are a part of. He just wants to make sure that there are more looters/criminals/exploiters doing the dying than professionals and honest folk.
A good plan IF he is correct as to their nature, and IF his plan is subtle enough.

Thousands if not tens of thousands are going to die no matter what we do.

What is being discussed here is whether we let him get the people who we can do very much without die first, as to prevent having to deal with thousands of looters and graverobbers in a persumed victorious aftermath despoiling the Dwarfhold and angering the Dwarfs.

[X] Dangerous nonsense. This needs to be stopped.

While that is true getting killed in honest battle and effectively stabbed in the back by your commander are vastly different propositions. This guy is the kind of moron that keeps taking 'hard decisions' until he is all alone in the wilderness for a villain of the week to gloat over him.

Read the vote again.

How do you feel about Codrin's plan to have as many of the vagabonds and adventurers under his command die in action as possible?

First of all this is simply how we feel about the Codrin's evil plan, we're not committing ourselves to any actions but simply deciding if we think having our commander get his men killed because he's racist or something is good or not.

Honestly he feels like a villain from MASH. The type of asshole who sends all the black guys into the front because he wants them all to die because he's a racist bastard. In his case it's all the guys not from Sylvania which is just as much of an asshole move.

Basically I don't trust this guy at all, he's a commander who's actively planning on killing his own men. That automatically makes him untrustworthy and unreliable and we should be investigating him, not helping him get his men killed. If he really gave a shit about not angering the dwarfs he'd install military police or something, instead he jumps straight to mass murder which is the classic bad guy move.

Are we really going to support letting this guy kill as many of the men he doesn't like as possible just because in his opinion they're statistically more likely to be thieves?
