Well, actually, yeah, policing an army is frikkin' hard. Like, in most armies throughout history, and even to an extent today, it's simply an accepted fact that once the battle is over, the looting begins.
Isn't that itself an argument that his plan will get many people killed for nothing?
I guess I'm actually a bit surprised that so many of the Stirlanders and Sylvanians are actually loyal and responsible, just seeking a way to attain some land and settle down. I was under the impression that most were irate deserters.
What's more likely, that the people of stirland are somehow all of pure intention and reason, or that the man chosen as a leader by a force composed of Stirland's most neo-phobic people is biased.

Not really, no. The army is going to loot, but if most of the Stirlanders and Sylvanians do indeed have more reasonable aspirations, then it's probable that they can be satisfied by only picking over greenskin and skaven corpses and camps, rather than, "well, that ancestral dwarfish statue is technically on the battlefield - hey, Johann, I think this filigree is gold, get me a chisel!"

It's impossible to stop the army from looting, but we can mitigate that to within acceptable bounds - acceptable in this case meaning what Belegar will accept, given that he probably knows on some level what he was getting into when he hired mercenaries.

[X] His command, his business. Stay out of it.

[x] The Snotlings need to be wiped out so their 'city' can be filled in. Join in the extermination, possibly with a Journeymanling along to see how they fare in battle.
- [x] Bring Esbern and Seija
[X] Introduce him to the dwarven smiths so he can try to convince them to teach him.
[X] Grand Master Ruprecht Wulfhart

[x] You've heard that greatswords and greataxes are near identical in the way they're used, and you happen to be surrounded by experts in the art of the axe. Learn how to use one.

Still there is the argument that if they could be seasoned with a bit of hard campaigning outside the command of someone that will never see them as truly his own, they could be whipped into shape. Well either that, or try desertion in the Badlands on for size.

Uh, no, those are the vagabonds, adventurers and mercenaries. They could readily be hired onto most state armies, but you're looking at a list of people with chronic disciplinary problems, criminal records, deserters or simply thrillseekers.

These don't normally get whipped into shape. Otherwise they'd have gotten hired on more permanently

[X] He's got a point. You should help where you can.

I don't think it will lead to actual options we'll have to spend time on, I think it will be more along the lines of a new option when talking or making suggestions.

There may be actions you can take if you choose to lean one way or the other, but you won't necessarily have to take those actions. It will also change whether you nod along, remain silent or object when it comes time to plan open field battles and he starts putting the rabble in the danger zone.

Well...that IS good strategy as long as the rabble has something more solid in the backline.

[X] Dangerous nonsense. This needs to be stopped.

This guy has pretty obvious biases and also just said he wants to get thousands of people dead. Yes there are lots of adventurers and such around looking to make their fortune but did you perhaps forget that that's exactly the same reasons Mathilde has for coming here? Wanting to get rich or win glory is a perfectly acceptable reason for turning up and it doesn't mean you plan to rob the dwarfs that outnumber you and supply all the food.

Additionally, this is how we feel about Codrin's plan. There's no action commitment here so we can simply feel disgust towards his attitude but not put any time into stopping him if we don't want to or if he's not going out of his way to get people killed. I don't mind if he's just putting the glory seekers in the vanguard but if he goes out of his way to get people killed then he needs to be stopped.

On the flip side, he is, by far, the most qualified person to judge them.
Why? He's a random Stirlander elected because he's a better shot and led a militia for a bit. What about that gives him the insight to understand that 6000 people (a group which miraculously includes almost none of the people he's friends with) are uniformly worthy of death?

[X] Scout the far side of the Snotling city to ensure there's no other surprises waiting to be found.
[X] They'll be going hunting in the valley. Join them, and bring Wolf along too.
[X] Introduce him to the dwarven smiths so he can try to convince them to teach him.

I do not feel comfortable with his course of action but will not stop him either.

Spend time with your Journeymanlings:

Esbern and Seija of the Amber Order

[X] They'll be going hunting in the valley. Join them, and bring Wolf along too.

Maximilian de Gaynesford of the Gold Order
[X] Ask him to reforge your sword into a superior one.

Well for one he's one of the few people who was born Sylvanian, but accomplished himself to become an officer in the Order Estates militia. He's still in touch with the common man, probably had a choice to join such a life himself, and has been a commander of what is no doubt a mix of Stirlandians and Sylvanian defectors, and has probably had to personally deal with bandits and other riffraff as a field officer.

I'd trust him on this. After all, the group he's leading is effectively a Warhammer version of the Peasant's Crusade, similar in that they they're a rag-tag group of many mixed motivations and no central authority. Left to their own devices, those looters would probably end up pissing a lot of people off, and can't be trusted to back up allied formations anyway.

Think of a North Korean defector leading a mix group of koreans. Yes, he might be biased, but among anyone else there is, he is the most qualified to make the judgement.
A judgement I feel is best to be supported to make sure that its execution happens smoothly.

Well, since it seems like my option is unsupported, might as well do damage control. No way I'm okay with letting one person do this with no oversight.

Given several of our skills essentially boil down to 'pure terror', it's possible that having a talk with the lads might actually work.

"Oh, that person with the flaming crown and the shadow horse that just flew down to personally smash the greenskin line and sent them wailing in terror? That person has said she would be displeased if we over-loot? Uh, well. She's the boss I guess."

I mean, it might cut down on the looting a bit, anyway.
