[X] Work with Ulthar and Panoramia to equip the best Ranger sharpshooters with envenomed bolts.
[X] Master Engineer Durin Wutokri
[X] Marshal Titus Muggins

Dragon Ogres are worth using poison on, as are squigs. Time for that weapon upgrade. Other than that: Networking. Our job is integrating the Journeymanlings into the army and that is best done by knowing what the army needs.

We now know there are heavy hitters that regular people have problem dealing with, so we should focus on wizard affairs as wizards are better in big monsters and associated magic stuff.

I thought it was pretty obvious. It's called Thunder Mountain and a creature that benefits from getting hit by lightning is going to it.
Yeah, I'm not sure what's remotely surprising about it? Something called Thunder Mountains has lots of thunder, and for creatures empowered by lighting it would be it's ideal environs ... I'm shocked.

I did have questions about whether there'd been a storm lately, and people considering the dragon ogres less of a threat because there hadn't been one. If anyone reached that conclusion earlier, they failed to share it with the rest of the thread.

Wonder what the roll was for. I'm guessing it was someone remembering the details and drawing the right connection between Dragon Ogres and Thunder Mountain.

I thought it was so blatantly obvious that it didn't have to be brought up, but maybe that was a mistake.

I mean I thought it was kind of the only place you could realistically find them near the Empire? They reside near mountains, can't be near living population or would have been heard off long before given their age, and awaken during storms; so the Thunder Mountains are the only really suitable environ that fits the bill for them to be awake that's nearby. If you know that Dragon Ogre's are a thing and how they function, there's nothing surprising about it.

For the record, the Thunder Mountain thing went completely over my head. Kragg's disapproval weighs most heavily.

But here's the question: I'm not denying that Dragon Ogres controlling Thunder Mountain is a problem.

But how big of one is it to the expedition specifically? I'm getting feelers out, not questioning the potential danger if such is the case.

We've been takng a lot of the Hero unit type actions so far. Not really interested in doing more right at the moment when we have a bunch of journeyman-wrangling options waiting. The Black Lotus option is more like a Panoramia action, so it gets my approval.

[X] Thane Skaroki Grimbrow
[X] Master Engineer Durin Wutokri
[X] Grand Master Sigwald Kriegersen
[X] Grand Master Ruprecht Wulfhart
[X] Marksman Codrin Petrescu
[X] Marshal Titus Muggins

All of the councilmember options need to be taken at some point, preferably sooner rather than later. No particular preference this turn, though, so I'm approval voting for all of them.

[ ] You've heard that greatswords and greataxes are near identical in the way they're used, and you happen to be surrounded by experts in the art of the axe. Learn how to use one.

Not even close to being worth it.

[X] Test their skills in battle.
[X] They'll be going hunting in the valley. Join them, and bring Wolf along too.

The second one here is a little more Hero-y, but I imagine most of the scene will be social, so that's better than going off alone scouting for what, the third or fourth time?

[ ] Ask him to reforge your sword into a superior one.
[X] Introduce him to the dwarven smiths so he can try to convince them to teach him.
[ ] Ask the smiths to teach him as a favour to you (-2 favours)

The sword's fine as-is and it's not really worth spending the favours to get him an in when there's a free option. Any success he has under the smiths' tutelage is going to reflect well on Mathilde at the end of the campaign, while the off-chance that things go badly will be mitigated by not putting Mathilde's reputation on the line by vouching for him.

[X] Help him find a place with the dwarf artillery crews so that he can supplement their abilities in combat.
[ ] Keep tabs on his interactions with the dwarves, making sure he's not fishing for information that the dwarves want to keep for themselves.

Knowing that he's targeting the Skaven is good enough for me, so I don't feel the need to micromanage his interactions with the dwarfs. Still, we might as well try to get some use out of him for the army. Unfortunately, he has neither Dispel nor Glowing Lights, but we should be able to find something else for him to do.

Lightning from ash plumes: it's a thing. Volcanological trivia is a pretty forgivable oversight, but it's still one I'm surprised nobody caught.
I'm not sure Mathilde, in character, knew enough about Dragon Ogres to know about their link to lightning(?)- I didn't notice it in the mini write up you gave out, so I didn't mention it either. I did suspect something named Thunder Mountain would have a lot of lightning for whatever reason, but Mathilde wouldn't have a reason to link the two.

Talking with the other commanders is our greatest priority right now so I've selected them all. Wulfhart is admittedly pretty low on the worth talking to list though in comparison to the others.

No more faffing about, since we have actual threats which may take snipers and artillery, we want them armed up to their best.

Familiar bonding?
Either way we need to spin up for war, so pass.

Didn't know about the lightning

I'm seeing a lot of votes which back the second of these two options without the first, and I have to ask- why would you do that? If we want the best results on finding one of our wizards a place in the artillery section, we should probably talk to the chief artillerist. Arranging one of our wizards to be in that position without talking to the leader of the section that he's working with is pointlessly risking suboptimal results or choices that wouldn't be approved of by our counterpart on the artillery side.

Aside from the superior expected results from the second action, it's a lot easier to approach someone for social reasons if there's a practical work-related reason that you're holding a conversation, so wanting to take the second action this week makes it a good time to talk to the Master Engineer. It reduces the risk of him deciding that we're wasting his time on pointless drivel.

Arranging for actions to be taken together when we're in a line voting instead of plan voting format is difficult, but it's not impossible. I would strongly urge people to push for both of these together, not one alone.

Aside from that...

[X] Thane Skaroki Grimbrow
[X] Marksman Codrin Petrescu
[X] Marshal Titus Muggins

These are the other commanders that I'd most like to talk to. Envenomed bolts will be important before we fight dragon ogres but we're not in the highest-risk zone for them yet and we don't really need them for a merely possible orc attack- there's no trouble killing orcs with their current weapons.
