I don't suppose there's any way we could accept command of both the Stirland contingent and journeyman wizards. I mean going off our titles as a knight of stirland and magister of the grey order we are entitled to lead both of them in the absence of higher authorities.

No. Empire politics might be open to the legal fiction of being two separate entities, but to dwarfs you're one thing or the other and trying to be both means you can't be trusted with either.

My inclination is to accept wizard boss role (otherwise the guys will inevitably be mismanaged) and go seek a few more wizards to employ.

Simple, if we are voting to lead the Wizards, we should get to know the Wizards.

And familiar, of course.
In this case we'd be confusing the dwarfs a bit, considering we approached in the capacity of a wizard.
Nope, not at all. They are people, not computer programs.

It is well known we've commanded dozens of thousands of men in the sylvannia campaign. It's perfectly logical to get the war hero to command the forces from his home 'country'.

Alright, either take the Stirland Command, which I feel would be super sick as we are using our Fog of War stuff and other command skills we've learned and they really respect us, or be Senior Wizard, and head the magical core supporting these armies.

Being Senior Wizard means we should definitely try asking the Colleges for aid, just for any chance to bolster the small group we currently have, and talk with maybe the two Ambers. Stirland Commander means we should hang out with those guys.

Either way, familiar is an obvious choice.

Well, Mathilde has commanded armies and destroyed a seven hundred year old vampire castle. Don't think she's gonna top that on a Genrals resume? But leading Wizards... thats new, and might be good practise for eventually taking on apprentices of her own.

And as others hav said, she'll be able to speak for their capabilities to the Dwarves much better than anyone else.

And no one so far is inclined to try for more support? Zhufbar didn't send much of anything, they're buds of ours, right?

Taking charge of the Wizards is definatey more in line with how we presented ourselves, and veekie does make a good point on how the other wizards would likely be underutilized. On the other hand, taking charge of the Stirlanders is something my gut approves of greatly. It feels right.

He extends to you an offer to sit on his War Council, such as it is. The other members thus far are the three other dwarves that were introduced to you, the Grand Masters of one of the demigryph orders to speak for both, the Grand Master of the Winter Wolves to speak on behalf of the combined Nordlander and Middenlander forces, and the Marshal leading the Halflings. The exact position you'll be filling is left unclear - you could be joining merely as a Magister in your own right, or as the most senior Wizard of all those present. It would even be possible to slip into command of the Stirlander forces - you commanded them once, you're sure you could do so again, if you desire.

This decision is tricky. Ultimately the issue here is that neither of these groups have any representation on the Council right now- that means that both are likely to be out of touch with the leadership, disorganized, and ultimately underutilized and susceptible to low morale and feeling underappreciated.

That's pretty bad for anyone, but there are 10,000 Stirlanders. They form a full quarter of the human forces present. If we don't pick them they will have no leader to rally around (note how the Nordlanders and Ulricans united and aligned behind the knights but the Stirlanders and misc. human forces did not). This campaign could be seriously damaged by having those kinds of numbers left either leaderless or with a leader that they don't know and have faith in.

Contrast with the journeymen- yes, they'll be not listened to and underused if they don't have someone in charge of them... but they're journeymen. They've been explicitly judged by their Colleges to be capable of self-directing, determining the best course of action and moving independently to take it. Further, if they really need something and we're on the Council in any capacity at all nothing at all stops them from approaching us and bringing it up; even if we're commander of the Stirlanders if we say "gold wizards can do X, let him" no one is going to be dumb enough to say "that has nothing to do with the Stirlanders and so we're not going to listen"; all the people without representation on the war council have to be getting their orders from somewhere and the council has to get ideas about what those orders should be from somewhere.

Ultimately I think that if we want this campaign to succeed, taking command of the Stirland contingent is the right choice.

That said, if we're here for personal development or gaining Magister cred, maybe we don't give a shit if the Stirland contingent is disorganized and dissolves/deserts.

The Stirlander forces should take us leading them pretty well, wasn't that long ago we led them in Sylvania. The wizards are a toss up, both amber and gold are pretty independent, but letting them know we are there and are willing to offer advice might help. might also want to let the halflings know we're there.

Well one thing to keep in mind is that if we don't assume command the other wizards will probably run around doing their own thing, likely without much cooperation between each other.
