Sheds a lone, prideful tear.

Ah, how fast they grow...

[X] Diomedon

I' had to restrain myself from laughing out loud over the fact that we almost 'accidentally' Lys. Ultimately though leaving the Lyseni off balance with our strange tree diplomacy stratagem ought to work wonderfully. They'll think we want to play their game of poisons and daggers, especially after we take Tyrosh. No way that pesky Targeryean pirate claims another free city after Tyrosh right?! No way! Only THE band of nine managed only one city and it was to be used as a staging point for Westeros!

...

Edit: also lol'd hard after that omake about Viserys asking mom if she wanted to rule Lys.

@everyone

What do you think of recieving the dignataries as we casually wipe the blood out lf dark sister by the base of the Weirwood? Should brown a few more pants.

Burning grasp it is.

If you're going to do that, would a "burning grasp" spell in the thread that links to her char sheet be worth doing? Also, whats the story with the bonus to hit for metal stuff?

Personally, I just wanted a fire spell for her egg, so burning grasp is fantastic as it is actually useful unlike burning hands, so I'm just curious abot that bit.

:).

Also, nice that the devil chain behaved. We should reward it with with a good view to our day of change ritual :)

Eh, it's not drawn to metal. I did not add that bit when making the calculations

Consensus?

  • [X] Plan Try Diplomacy First, now more targeted
-[X] Call out to Shara, and tell her she might as well come over. Apologize that we made her miss her opportunity to sell the information of our arrival, and pay her for the trouble.
-[X] Ask to hire Shara's services as a guide and send her with Malarys and Ser Richard to inform House Artaris that Viserys Targaryen has settled the earthquake threat and would like to treat with the city to build a temple, and are awaiting them at the tree in the gilded quarter. If at all possible, inform House Agtalos and someone in what is left of the Wine and Steel faction.
-[X] Encourage her to d her best in being quick to return with Malarys and Richard after delivering the messages, and perhaps in addition to (a very generous) payment we could discuss what other houses we might want to talk to, even ones seemingly powerless and disgraced.
-[X] After they depart, have Dany use her ideas to cast a sending to Ser Gerold telling him to contact you with the Brazier. Then inform him that he is to put what Legionnaires are battle ready on alert, and gathered near the shadow tower and to inform Teana to make preparations for the tower to teleport if need be. Have someone recontact Dany every five minutes for quick updates.
-[X] If still waiting, begin surveying the surrounding area in anticipation of trying to build an enclave or some sort of enclosure to help protect the new godswood here if all goes well. Idly play with the wayfinder and search for Illyrio.
    [X] Plan Accidentally A City
-[X] Port to SD. Tell everyone that we are mobilising right now. The Shadow Tower and the Legion are to be prepared for deployment.
-[X] Take Xor, Garin and Tyene along. Also the Iron Golems.
-[X] Dany, Garin and Tyene will accompany our guest to the hidden market of Lys to gather intel. Bribe her well if necessary and offer her a job.
-[X] Viserys and Lya inspect the Fleshforge.
-[X] Xor, guarded by the rest, errects a curtain wall around the tree as a staging area.
-[X] Once everyone is back, prepare to cast all the divinations.
-[X] Also get the bedroll for a powernap for Viserys.

-[X] If no one seems to be teleporting over in response to the disturbance after a minute or two, ask to hire Shara's services as a messenger and send her to the Goblin Market to inform the magical factions that Viserys Targaryen has settled the earthquake threat and would like to treat with the city to build a temple, and are awaiting them at the tree in the gilded quarter. The locals who matter should be consulting their magicians, and this message should reach them.
-[X] Discuss ways to keep things from spiraling out of control with your companions while you wait.

At that point we can learn Combust and exchange the level 1 spell for something nice.
How far it scales up doesn't seem too important in this case?

Speshul dragon egg magic! And then she can get a different level 2 spell instead just as easily.
The lack of "to-hit" might as well be replaced by something, and a damage cap seems useful and this way we won't be tempted to train out her egg-hatching spell, hopefully.
Cuz buring hands is just terrible. :(

Aww the vote closed before i could vote. I'm always up for diplomacy first but while we do that, can we immediately start bringing troops over just in case they say 'no'? In fact, even if they say say 'yes', we need the troops to keep them honest.

But to be perfectly honest, i don't see how any city would allow a hostile power to set up a fortress within their walls. It literally means they've surrendered without a fight? IRL, this squares up there with the Great Powers demanding the Qing the right to set up a garrison/fortress in the middle of Beijing. Indeed, even Visery's planting a fortress within Lys without immediately or soon-ish stopping slavery in Lys- that'd affect his reputation as a liberator..

In any case, all this means that Tyrosh needs to go ahead ASAP before they clue up even more

We can telport or Treewalk here anytime.
Even if it couldn't defend itself, and I'm quite sure it can, we just need a warning from the OGs or Bloodraven to come out of the tree and set some idiots on fire.

That's the advantage of trying to hold one location rather than a city, one or a few PCs are more than enough to defend it.

Quite apart from the troubles of giving any sort of signs that she would play the part of the lady to his knight would cause, the young Velaryon found the sense that her heritage did not define her here rather... liberating. What she did, and not who she had been born, would make or break her hopes this day.
Compare to this:
There was no hesitation in the young sorceress' thoughts, not even the notion of there being a choice to stand or fight, only words of power, words of fire bound to helforged steel as a blazing whip. A surge of satisfaction filled her as she saw the dark spirit flinch, as she heard it scream. The chill of its presence was as nothing besides the power in her blood.
The sound seemed to be trying to claw its way inside her head, blind fear beyond sense, beyond all reason, threatened to swallow her, but she was no child playing at war, nor was she the common sort of warrior. A Velaryon born of the blood that had dared horrors the world over, that had tamed and ridden dragons in days of old. What had she to fear from tattered maddened shades?
Feeling a bit hypocritical today?

She rejects what she was raised to, not what she was born to, not her true heritage.
A rather important difference.

I wonder how she'll deal with that in the longer term, she lets her heritage guide and define her quite a bit here and I'm sure her decent Wisdom will let her find that out soon.
@DragonParadox I'm assuming that's an intentional dissonance?

It has a unknown amount of Leshy crawling in the anthill beneath it and the park the tree sits in is surrounded by ruined buildings.

This place is the perfect setup for a rousing game of "Tuckers Kobolds Leshys Fuck You Over".

These guys have Blind-Fight, a vision reducing defensive ability, a vision reducing ranged attack and three natural attacks. A well organised horde of the buggers is deadly.

Hmm, that in itself is a major advantage. Keep minimal troops, enough to hold the Tree under siege. If need be we can treewalk the legions/supplies. That said, this still means we need to take Tyrosh quickly, so that we keep Lys off balance before they can scrounge up troops to force us to park enough soldiers in Lys..which prevents us having enough soldiers to take Tyrosh.

I think the distinction there is that she rejects her Westerosi heritage as a noblewoman, yet embraces the magic surging in her blood.
