Well, looks like I was right about Paul going full Platinum Games during this sequence, given that was a fight worthy of blaring Rules of Nature for. Now, we all know the giant bosses are the relatively easy ones, so soon he'll end up in a really tough fight against the enemy with a near identical powerset to his.

Of course he is; hes called Larfleeze.

Also, it is interesting that it had fear projectors and anti-Lantern shielding. That sound suspiciously like it was expected to fight Green Lanterns; which again, isn't a very low profile activity.
I agree, when it said "secondary target." and "Fear me Lantern." I suspected it was given general anti-ring slinging orders.

Hm, time to upgrade his own armor with whatever this thing is made off? It had various ingenious solutions, like plasma shield and point defence lasers.

Using Apokaliptian armor serms okay, is the weapons thst brainwash you, as seen with Barda's mace when a human woman tried to use it.

VWelp. OL is going to have to appear before the UN to explain his actions.

Also, anyone paying close attention to the battle would notice that OL was dominating the army bur when a peer opponent appeared he lost battlefield control.

So don't start wars without meta human support.

Yup.
They can be thankful it's not Grayven.

No he didn't.
Demon horde still on the loose mopping up the attackers while he personally punched out enemy armor.

Such as by holding them for a week, having a day counter in the room, and only releasing food and water if there are corpses in the room exactly equal to the square of the number on the counter?

More like saying, "Here's a saw, there's a furnace. If there aren't four less limbs in the room by this time tomorrow, no food or water. Have at it."

You have to give them a choice.

Umm...I don't think that's really a great discussion for the thread.

So, what do you think OL picked up from the Spider-mech?

VWelp. OL is going to have to appear before the UN to explain his actions.
Why?

OL doesn't belong to the UN, he doesn't belong in any official capacity to the JL who answer to the UN, his only citizenship is to a country that isn't part of the UN, and he is acting within the territory of a country that, again, is not a part of the UN.

So... why would he have to explain his actions to the UN?

Also he's in a country that isn't a member state of the UN.

I'm... pretty sure that Khandaq is a member state of the UN, or at least has no reason not to be, actually. That they didn't sign into the charter for the Justice League isn't a factor into their overall membership.

Looks like Apokolips Covert Ops invested significantly more resources into this than I initially thought.
Which begs the question of what the fuck did Mahmoud promise them?
Apokolips does not do charity after all, and stuff like this is not a shortterm response to Kanto getting his ass kicked.
Something BIG is going down.

On the bright side, if that news crew's camera drones gets footage of this fight onto international news, at least OL is going to get more respect.
Certainly, the spy satellites that have been watching this are going to alarm national governments.

Probably a good idea to scan for Adom; if Apokolips was willing to play this overt a hand, there is no way they weren't planning for him as well.
I wonder if maybe they want to stop Adom's pantheon from getting more involved in things?
He's there constantly showing up, it wouldn't be unreasonable for, say, any atheists or agnostics that exist in the country to consider converting, which means said pantheon can start interfering more.

Interesting fact: This update occurs on the 14th of March. Back in 'Prayer' on the 9th of Feb, it was stated that Jade had a month a half to go on her sentence. Thus I'd say either at the end of this episode or the start of the next, we'll be seeing her let free.
Oh this?
This I'm looking forward to very much!
Jade's the best.

I'm tentatively entitling the episode after next 'Date Night', so it'll probably be then.
Mm.
Will this mean what I hope it will (Paul going on a date with Jade)?

Maybe. But will he notice?

At the time that the episode is set the ambassador to the UN had gone over to the rebel side, though technically the recognised government is the losing one.
So... why would he have to explain his actions to the UN?
Because they would ask politely? They can request that anyone turn up to a committee and he isn't very likely to refuse if asked. Secondly, Adom would probably like it if someone with more international credibility than him worked on persuading other countries to normalise relations after the civil war.

Stop: Stop
stop Sufficient Velocity is neither the time nor place for your torture fantasies. @Jamie Roberts has been infracted for twenty five points, as have @Rem Ipsum and @Ganurath. All three of you are in flagrant violation of rule two of the Community Compact. Insure that you do not repeat this behaviour.

You may now resume your regularly scheduled SI activities.

Information: You're Right

you're right It really wasn't.

As for everyone else in the thread!

I recognise that people can really get into a head space when you're following a story and getting on a roll. However, I would implore people to keep in mind the standards of behaviour that we expect from every one of you as members of this site. Theorising about Orphan Battle Royales, complete with cannibalism hijinks implied, crosses Rule 2 - Don't Be Hateful in a very unpleasant way. Please think before you post, people.

ok then, moving swiftly away from orphan snuff, is it possible the troops attacking are not from the old regime? The possibility of a Boom tube insertion has already been raised, so they could have come from anyone on earth who has access to apokoliptian tech, It's possible these are Bialyan troops. Queen bee might be trying to put the old regime back in place as a puppet, if she is she probably had Adom contained or neutralized by now.

Also I have to say I really like how Zoat is handling the new gods. He is doing a fantastic job of making apokoliptian troops and tech feel dangerous, you really do get the first world soldier in a third world warzone vibe when new god stuff shows up.
