I suspect that anybody who tries will meet an unfortunate fate.
The Greek Gods might not do eternal punishment, but that doesn't mean that they're nice.
1) Let's assume that RCC isn't evil.
1b) Let's further assume that RCC is, in fact, a broadly good-aligned organization, whose leadership really desire to save the souls of their flock / help people to find salvation.
2) Given: Purgatory isn't real.
3) Given: Souls in hell can be destroyed over relatively short periods of time
4) Given: souls can be corrupted forcefully beyond their ability to resist via force of will / faith alone.
5) Conclusion 1: RCC's knowledge of demonic and the nature of hell and afterlife are incomplete at best, with several tenets being factually wrong. Assuming 1, RCC should at least not be against Paul correcting the knowledge deficiency of their flock. Assuming 1b, when given the information, RCC should start to actively correct the factually wrong parts of their religion that actively harm their followers withing the paradigm of christian faith.
6) Given: Satanus, basically a pagan deity turned demon, took over hell after First of the Fallen, the closest thing to Satan, and Lucifer Morningstar were out of the picture.
7) Given: Satanus is in cahoots with several mortal supervillains, and is actively upteching hell in what looks like preparation to invasion of Earth or Silver City.
8) Conclusion 2: Based on 6, Hell of Satanus is no more christian hell than Hel of Norse religions or Hades are. This is something that needs to be conveyed to the flock.
9) Conclusion 3: Assuming 1 and 1b, it's a duty of the church, if given the opportunity, to go and kick demonic teeth in. At the very least this should include excommunicating / cursing any and all persons involved with the Light at any capacity. Also, likely a restart of inquisition, officially I mean. Also, well, Hell is preparing to invade. It is the duty of the church to protect people from the forces of hell. They need to prepare for war.
EDIT: Basically the same thing can be said about any major religious institution.
I'm pretty sure that, also, isn't biblical either.
The things I kept hearing used to claim it was more of the tradition where if your brother died without having kids, you married his widow to have kids to carry on your brothers line and the entire thing is someone intentionally trying to avoid doing what he was supposed to do

We don't have any direct evidence that Satanus has taken over Hell. Become a major player, certainly. Started wearing the Crown of Horns? Don't know.

Breach of Rule 2. Talking about how great it would be for someone (everyone) to die.
Well, I've read through the past few pages, and I can honestly say that its things like this that make me question what exactly I would do if I got a orange ring. Would I:
A: Use it to uplift humanity and bring a new age of prosperity.
B: Immediately mercy kill the entire human race, ending with myself.
C: Do B, but move on to kill everything else in the universe, and then myself.
Jokes aside, I'm not actually joking. Things like this are why I'm a suicide advocate. Time and time again the world is proven to be nothing but suffering and pain. It manifests in many ways, something as severe as the dread of knowing most of your loved ones will die before you or the pain when it happens, the anguish of knowing that no matter what you are essentially a slave with no master doomed to work for your entire life or starve, the despair of knowing that success and fun is brief but failure and pain can hurt you for a lifetime... down to minor things, like half the world gone mad with endless, pointless bickering over religion, politics, or any of a thousand other things.
I don't like it, people are suffering and hurting eachother constantly and unendingly, and it's so inherent to reality that only the bliss of nonexistence is a practical escape.
On that note, I might hold the record as the one of the only people who could commit omnicide with a ring of compassion, which is neat I guess.

Yeah, that's the tricky bit. You gotta check if souls exist first and then figure out how to kill those too.
Honestly if you can figure it out it's easier to just destroy the universe wholesale. Not much point in it sitting around if no one is in it, and it sucks anyway.

While the Ancient Greek afterlife here has it's pros I am not sure I am a fan of their security in concerns to keeping your soul out of danger once it's there.
And of course there's the whole longevity issue in concerns to the location of their afterlife still being a part of the Universe that will end some day.

I think it's because a) resisting him is more effort than not, and why put forth pointless effort; b) Darkseid's inevitable victory is what makes everything else pointless, thus surrendering entirely to him is marginally less pointless than resisting. The really frustrating thing about this decision is that aside from intervening in the fairly consistent dustups that this thread produces the Staff on SV have been nothing but accommodating to Mr. Zoat. The thread is locked for review because it was in the midst of a heated argument that is going to result in fairly significant points for some of its participants. Discussion even raised the possibility of infracting a post under the Terms of Service, although ultimately this was dropped as unnecessary and overbearing.
It is our active and constant effort every time something blows up that helps maintain, along with the effort of the thread's community, a decent environment in this thread, and yet the active decision of Mr. Zoat- when it is locked to prevent an extreme blowup- is not to talk to staff or communicate anything to us but to immediately decide to leave the forum in an almost ultimatum like fashion. If he had asked us to reopen the thread before this we would have done so, contingent on him making an effort to keep the discussion on topic.
None of that was attempted. So as it is, the thread will remain locked until the moderator has completed his review, or Mr. Zoat comes to us with a request, as we would usually grant. If he decides, at the end of his dramatic countdown, to take the fic off Sufficient Velocity and onto Questionable Questing- or any other site- then that is absolutely his prerogative. Ultimately, I don't care where Zoat hosts his fiction, only that I feel that it is important to emphasize that we usually listen when people ask us things. We might not act in accordance with their request but we listen.
If he does decide to take the fic off, then I wish him best of luck. It is an inordinately successful fanfic, so I have no doubt that even if he went to Livejournal he'd have plenty of success! If he doesn't, then we're always happy to continue hosting it.

Trilobite has done nothing but engage with you civilly, indeed apologizing several times and choosing their words with great care and the responses you give indicate such flagrant disrespect for their arguments that I cannot help but find them violations of the fourth rule of Sufficient Velocity. You are infracted with 25 points for a violation of Rule 4.
In addition, while the stance that God or gods do not exist should be and is a valid stance to express on Sufficient Velocity, to express it in such terminology as you do is frankly disrespectful and repeat behaviour of this sort is generally frowned upon, both by the rules and the moderation team. I have chosen not to infract it and simply fold it into a general post, but I would recommend you change this in the future.

Calling someone a blight for expressing their opinion in a civil tone as well as deliberately insulting them is a violation of Rule 3. There are no particularly extenuating circumstances and you do not have a history of these kinds of rules violations, however, so I am merely giving you a Staff Notice.

This is an interesting post, because I had never considered whether or not the rules applied to a desire for omnicide out of compassion, but after extensive deliberation, the Staff has come to the conclusion that it violates Rule 2 through the desire for someone's death. In addition, a subclause of Rule 4 applies with regards to being mindful of the controversy of one's opinions. This post arguing complete and total omnicide is wildly off the topic of the thread and quite definitely espouses an opinion contingent on the greatness of the death of someone (everyone) and as such earns a single 25-point infraction under Rule 2 and Rule 4.

Everything about this scared me shitless for a second. I mean, "WTR" didn't update like usual, so I thought Mr. Zoat had an accident or something. And the finding the tread locked with big angry letters and everything, didn't exactly help matters. I understand why it was necessary, I think. This thread does generate a lot of different opinions that clash and some people doesn't understand how to diplomatically talk it out.
I admit, I'm not entirely sure why it moves to QQ, but since I am a member on that side as well, I won't complain overly much, as long as I get to keep reading. I still think it's a shame it won't continue here, though.
