The update is in the story only thread.

I hope you stay @Mr Zoat. I'd hate for you to leave another board and I'm not sure QQ is SFW to read the update on my lunch breaks.

It explicitly isn't. On the positive side though, it WOULD give him the freedom to write whatever he wanted without fearing breaking the rules, and I've heard he's had trouble with that in the past.

I know QQ has a deserved reputation for teh lewds but nswf is locked unless you log on and have permission. It has a perfectly legitimate sfw fiction board, though admittedly most if it is reposts of stuff from sb and sv. I mean, spacebattles might be ludicrous enough to forbid linking to qq sfw but thats because spacebattles has some insane seven degrees of kevin bacon touching his dick then touching a doorknob rule.

If your work would forbid you from that, it'd probably forbid you from reading fanfics at work period. Get back to work you slacker.

That being said I hope Mr Zoat doesn't move for the entirely arbitrary and selfish reason that I don't want to update my links again.

Edit: QQ sfw has essentially the same rules as sb or sv. It's lightly moderated but there's next to no violations since the community polices itself. If you even think there's going to be sex why not post in nsfw anyway? It has a larger readerbase, after all. So qq sfw is pretty sfw.

Clearly Zoat just needs his own wordpress blog or something, where he can completely control the venue and not be beholden to anyone.

Not quite the same rules, actually: apart from having a NSFW section and being generally more permissive as long as you aren't being an asshole, there's Rule 8: No political discussions on Questionable Questing. I think religion counts to some degree, likely because few people are able to keep their religion out of their politics, and because both tend to make people angry and, well, see above. It's a good rule, and one I would support Zoat implementing in this thread. I'm pretty sure all he'd have to do is PM a mod about it, and shortly thereafter there'd be a big banner warning people.

Trilobite has done nothing but engage with you civilly, indeed apologizing several times and choosing their words with great care and the responses you give indicate such flagrant disrespect for their arguments that I cannot help but find them violations of the fourth rule of Sufficient Velocity.
To be fair to those guys, if someone is expressing highly intolerant and entitled views - even if choosing their words carefully, it's still going to be fairly provocative.

Well worded intolerance is still intolerance.

Discussing the new update in the story-only thread, Darkstar is a surprisngly good fit for Jade. It is basically being a space ninja - an infiltration specialist, with a side order of sabotage, spying and assassination. Less powerful than being a lantern, but still powerful enough to be relevant (and, really, as I have shown before, Paul's power armor tech coupled with Maltusian tech should be able to produce Lantern-level warriors). I think this would be good for her.

Also: No mental issues. It's clear that she just doesn't like using an orange ring, which is what he has.

And of course he could still Danner her if she wants, that ought to be compatible with Darkstar armor.

Garrick should be far more useful, as it come with increased processing speed.
If you want to minimax, Danner + Velocity Ten. The durability and survival boost of Danner, with on-demand super speed.

Granted, it was Grayven that developed the improved Velocity Ten formula, that grants the superspeed, without the negative side effects, but the only reason OL hasn't done the same, is because he hasn't thought to try yet.

If he had asked us to reopen the thread before this we would have done so, contingent on him making an effort to keep the discussion on topic.

None of that was attempted. So as it is, the thread will remain locked until the moderator has completed his review, or Mr. Zoat comes to us with a request, as we would usually grant. If he decides, at the end of his dramatic countdown, to take the fic off Sufficient Velocity and onto Questionable Questing- or any other site- then that is absolutely his prerogative. Ultimately, I don't care where Zoat hosts his fiction, only that I feel that it is important to emphasize that we usually listen when people ask us things. We might not act in accordance with their request but we listen.
I'm siding with the mods on this one. The thing with SB... I'm not sure that I would have made the same decision to switch forums were I in the same position Zoat was, but it was a valid decision to make and I can't really fault him for it. The mods there legitimately were power tripping. Here, however, the mods were in the right to lock the thread for review. People may or may not like the conclusion of this review, personally I think it's fine, but promising to move to another forum without any correspondence and before the conclusion seems somewhat petty. I may simply not be paying much attention, but I haven't seen any particularly unreasonable behavior from any of the SV staff. Certainly not enough to justify changing forums over.
Clearly Zoat just needs his own wordpress blog or something, where he can completely control the venue and not be beholden to anyone.
That would mean that Zoat has to personally moderate the discussion, or choose someone else to do it, which I dont think he would be willing to do given his general stance of not getting involved in disputes aside from setting facts straight.

"I can create Darkstar-style armour to your specifications if you want to try it out. And I.. happen to know where some Kobra cultists are hanging out…"

She relaxes her shoulders slightly, resting her hands on the table. "I suppose giving it a try wouldn't hurt."

In before the next update reveals the aftermath of how much she hurt said cultists.

It's kind of weird, because Hell is mostly the result of monotheism fanfic.

Hell as conceived by comic book writers creating the DC universe comes mostly from medieval-onwards writers and artists of no particular religious authority, though their vision was then adopted by religious authorities. Sort of like the way that Americans 'know' Santa Claus looks like is because of Coca Cola advertising.

I think the difficulty in the DC universe context is that souls have to believe they're going somewhere, and Christianity notably failed to provide an alternative to going to Heaven. So they sort of adopted the "Coca Cola commercial" version of hell as the afterlife for people who couldn't make heaven due to lack of a viable alternative. I wonder if you couldn't save people without asking them to give up their entire religion if you could just create a different Christian vision of Hell and get people to buy into it. Rather than the Hell of medieval fanfic with all the eternal torture and stuff, you could have "hell as the absence of God" and just have it be a place where people sit around bored all the time.
Traditionally, there is also weeping and gnashing of teeth as part of the Christian Afterlife.

Does it strike anyone else as a really bad idea to restart the debate that locked this thread before Mr Zoat even has a chance to post today's segment? He may still decide to switch sites, but we shouldn't immediately try to get it locked again so he has to, right? That's dumb? We can wait at least a day? We're not children, right? Right?

...Guys?

But it likely doesn't work well or at all with the armor.
There's no doubt in my mind at all that maltusian made power armor or something of the equivalent technology level can function faster than human normal reaction and information processing speeds allow.

Danner is an additional level of security, allowing one survive a narrow range of attacks that overwhelm the armor but don't annihilate it altogether.

Garrick multiplies the armor efficiency at least several times, perhaps several orders of magnitude.

Eh, DC ended in 2011.

If in this clearly fanfic spinoff, they have a noted betrayer and genocidal monster on their team, it will only make them weaker.

Actually it also involved Father Box's alchemical database.

Also I think he may be worried about the sociologically destabilizing effect of widespread superspeed.
