An American would say "out of the hospital"

Im not sure if I want the shockwave thing to be a setting to be turned off, or something that happens every time he requests information. I'm imagining him first entering a fight and talking to people while blue shockwaves continually radiate from his head, and every few seconds after that. Nobody would be able to take him seriously, but it would also be hilarious.

I would be surprised if it was possible to change a partial will elemental to a partial hope one, because then you should be able to change a partial hope elemental into a partial compassion one, and then love. Or go in the opposite direction towards rage. It would be silly.

The lantern AI just said 'restoring empathic energy' It might have been designed to charge his soul with more generic light and not pure blue. I want to say he works sort of like how the fists do, but he did have green light in him that interfered with orange healing, so that's probably out.

We changed a hell elemental into a love elemental by exchanging one power source for another. It might be silly but it's not unprecedented.

Succubus to Love Elemental. Magical being to magical being. Alan is only partially ethereal Green Light.

She was a weird one because she actually knew True Love so she had a connection to the Violet Light of Love. Usually things from Hell don't love at all.

Edit: What color does MrZoat use for the Violet Light? The one above is wrong and it annoys me to look at for some reason.

Good thing it was just a joke, but.....:Citation Needed:

I'ma roll with it. What if deep down in his very soul he really, really, REALLY wants to not think about it?

One of these days you guys are going to have to explain to me which parts of your asses you keep pulling all these rules out of.

Between assuming mantles and multiple rings and all the other crap that Zoat has never seemed to have said or written but seem to keep being pushed out there every few posts, I'm quite curious.

She pulls back slightly. "You shuwer you ain't jus' afraid of commitment?"

"Yes, completely. I have total awareness of my desires. I have no fear of commitment at all."

"Youwa bein' literal, ain't you?" She snorts as her nose starts to run-. I raise my right forefinger, a wave of orange cleaning off her face. "Oh. Thanks."

My assumption from the story is that if Paul really desired to not to want to not know his desires then he would simply know that he didn't want to know about them. When Paul finished gaining his enlightenment he had to go through all of the nasty impusive desires that while he would never do, he still had to know and accept them. Thus where our assumption comes from.

That doesn't hurt my point at all, you know.

First off, calling a succubus a "hell elemental" is just a way of making a point; I wasn't wrong so that's not really a correction.

And if having a connection to the destination light is necessary, well... Alan always was a hopeful person. That actually makes the transition MORE plausible, not LESS.

He would know that he didn't want to know about them, but he would still know about them -- but due to his enlightenment he also accepts that these unwanted desires are part of his existence; they don't define who he is and they don't carry any weight because he will never act upon them. He knows that on balance he doesn't in fact want those things.

But on the other hand, he might be well aware that he doesn't want to know about certain things that would make him angry.

Saying succubus just narrows down who we're talking about for anybody that doesn't remember Chantinelle. Hell Elemental could be literally anything in Hell depending on if using Elemental here is just meant as 'Connection to Hell's Innate Magics'.

Plus Succubus's feed off of love/lust/sex/broken hearts/life energy/ whatever the author wants. So they might be easier to tun to the Violet Light due to an innate connection to love-ish stuff. Easier than turning a fuckpig, probably. Maybe not cause they are magical beings but that up to WOZ.

Also it took a few hours of being locked in a Zamoran Love Crystal and a ritual warping her soul and replacing he connection to Hell with a connection to the Violet Light Elemental Plane or whatever. Also when she came out she suddenly saw her whole life from a different perspective.

It is possible, I never said it wasn't, but I think it'll take more than just using a Blue Power Ring to change his Soul/Ethereal Emotional Make up. This Blue Lantern doesn't leak at all as far as the SI has mentioned.

Unless Kalmin did on purpose without mentioning it for study.

Which he would totally do. The Cartoonishly Evil Troll.

It's explicitly designed to infuse energy into a partial emotional light elemental. That's worse than leaking, because it's DIRECTED. It's like a leaky faucet versus opening the valve.

Have you ever met old people? They're not keen on digging through settings to change something on this newfangled device and the old thing was just fine why do we need all this technology?

Except Alan has Paul who should know the basics of how to configure defaults on his ring.

That and Alan is probabky going to be living for a long, long time. So he might as well invest the effort now.

I think most of the problem was the way he phrased his question.

But green and blue are known to be compatible in a way that other colors may not be. Paul's original attempt to heal Alan resulted in a warning that the alignment of the target individual resisted modification by orange light. It doesn't resist blue the same way.

This color:

"I don't deserve-." John reaches out and puts his right hand on her left shoulder. Her head jerks up and her wings pull back. She doesn't really look any different to me, though out of the three of us I've got the worst awareness of magic energy flows. "I can feel it, John. Love. Everywhere. And I… All the times I seduced people and broke up their relationships and laughed about it… I can feel it all. I can see all their faces. It's all wrong! And what I did to you and that Dani woman because I got angry about you resurrecting the First. I shouldn't have done it."
From Chantinelle's conversion scene.

I glance at Kon. "Yeah, but how stupid are we going to look if it's not?"

"Was he supposed to get a permit for that? I mean… That diving board's gotta be a fire hazard or something."

"I don't think there's anything specific"
Oh ho hooo, you have no gods damned idea.

I'm going to preface this with saying that it's Earth Prime legislation and regulation, in an entirely different country, but doing a Cert IV in Workplace Health and Safety opened my eyes up to a massive amount of AS/NZS Standards, Building Codes, and Codes of Practice there exist for... gosh darned near everything. Everything. And we don't even have supervillains or superheroes who'd be inclined to do crap like this. Just your average everyday negligent employers/managers, and workers going off "on a frolic of their own". I had an english trainer, in Perth where a lot of English people live, terms migrated in. Now, sure, most of that's Australia, but the US has its own 'International Building Code', Standards, Codes of Practice, and Workplace Safety and Health acts. I can't imagine that they're that much different in terms of being truly universal.

Shit like this? Just putting that there would get him a massive fine and potential jail time. Putting Lois on it? Yeah, damn.

So... Apparently being four (4) days behind means a thirty (30) page backlog.
WTF Thread?
By the time I'm caught up I expect someone to be either dead, Nabu to have come up again, or something so lewd to have happened it gave @Datcord a nosebleed.
That doesn't fit with Wonder Woman fighting nazis in WWII because if the newspapers didn't mention that it would be ridiculous.
Instead of thinking Wonder Woman, think Tanks. We know about tanks, there is no secret tank conspiracy. But they are not in the public consciousness like they would be if instead of just Tanks being a overseas armed conflict thing, they were also part of the everyday cultural zeitgeist the way they are in Girls un Panzer.

Vril who is distant but focused on planets and groups as a whole in danger of being under the Reach's control.
Vril is kind of doing the "Smart on paper, but actually a dumbass" thing here. Because he is bitching about the way Paul is doing things, but the Corps actually came out ahead here. He was teleporting to places with a strong potential candidate. If he runs into a situation bad enough he needs to leave a Lantern there to deal with it, if he gets even one new Lantern out of it, the Corps has not lost ground in the Reach campaign, and has in fact expanded their influence. A smart man would have looked at the statics, how often a Needs Intervention ASAP Dystopia takes up resources happens during recruiting, compared to not.

The eye problem also looked contrived to me. Malthusian tech should be robust enough to have general purpose Auto-Docs, and/or have vast data from enough species to just scan one or a few of a race, and assemble plans for an Auto-Doc intended for that species (with special emphasis on Eye replacement procedures), along with plans for a dedicated machine to make the above mentioned Auto-Doc. And then send those schematics to the ring of an Orange Lantern who gives a damn.

It doesn't even need to be no issues, 100% effective either. The polio vaccine actually gave polio to a couple people per million treated. It was still a vast, vast improvement to the situation before the vaccine.

Dealt with rationally, that planet should take one Lantern assigned to it in the short-mid term to keep the peace, a day or so for a Malthusian to configure an automated solution (that can be fabricated by the assigned Lantern) for dealing with existing removed eyes, if a Lantern with a real ring and the database cannot do it, and maybe a a 12th order intellect coming up with a roadmap for unfucking that society the assigned Lantern can we working toward while there.

In the meantime, those the new recruits can be attending the group classes on Lanterning 101 like everyone else.

There are many different pitfalls a leader can fall into and Dox needs to understand that if everyone is looking to Paul for help then that means He is a bad leader and needs to work on that. Ask for tips. Not ask for Paul to leave and quit undermining him.
Also this.

If we're seriously discussing it...

It takes a strong man to refuse to believe the Truth in front of him.

But any coward can deny what he fears.

Sometimes we'll believe the best of people because we care.

Or we're blinded by our feelings.

Sometimes the Truth makes us angry.

And sometimes we just want it beyond sense.

...Have you completely missed the point? That is the key issue here. Dox is SUPPOSED to be in charge practically, not just on paper,
No, specifically, the seven member steering committee is in ultimate control, consisting of 3 Controller representatives, the Commander of the Dark Stars, the Commander of the Fleet, the Clarassi of the Corps, and Paul. This is the group that would decide the Corps remit. What the Corps should be doing, should not be doing, the ethics and spirit of the Corps.

Then Vox, in addition to having 1-2 votes on the Steering Committee, is in charge of overall grand strategy (implementation of the decisions of the steering comittee), and day to day operations.

And Paul of recruiting, training, and maintenance of Corps member sanity.
At this point I would like to point out the Corps is brand spanking new, and consists entirely of new inductees. Even Paul himself is barely over a year in grade. Paul really should be more responsible in the here and now, because there aren't really any seasoned Lanterns to hand over to Vox yet. It's basically one big training company, and being the guy in charge of training was a position Paul carved out for himself when he gave Vox the rest.

Instead of being worried about his authority in a Corps that doesn't really exist yet, he should be focused on the Fleet aspect, which also needs to be build up from nothing, and his being in charge of of is a requirement for that 2nd vote on the steering committee. He could have been taking that in hand while Paul is getting the Lantern roster filled up, all the Lanterns trained.

"Wait!" Hinon and I look around as Kalmin flies into the Central Power Battery Chamber, landing just behind us and holding out some sort of monitoring device. "And begin."
Good man. No sense letting a SCIENCE! moment go to waste.

...she better not find out about the stuff he's already done with the power of love anytime soon, then, if that was her reaction to blue light.
You make it sound like an unrepentant monster harnessing the power of love as a weapon would make the divorce rate go up with each blast.

Just one? Are my corrections finally complete?
Until tomorrow maybe.

In addition to other insightful responses, blue is the opposite of orange. In principle, if you're channeling blue, it completely shuts down orange, and vice versa...
Indigo Compassion is the opposite of Orange Avarice.
Blue is the opposite of Yellow. And holding Hope and Fear hand in hand is something quite doable for humans.

I had just hoped to see Paul interacting with her more.
I also vote for more Hinon screen time.

this is a PRICELESS opportunity for a "dry run" on HOW to hand a post-liberation cleanup and rebuild WITHOUT having to constantly keep an eye out for overt retaliatory attacks, WITH a VERY large percentage of the population EXTREMELY friendly/grateful for the corps after a relatively short, clean conflict, and he's COMPLAINING?
Ok, this is vintage OL level "why only have one rationale for each action when you can make it benefit you multiple ways" Like how in the last episode bringing back the refugees both got them out of a shitty situation at home, and helped make forging the connection to Hope possible. The point you are making would be a very appropriate one for OL to have made about the utility of practice getting involved unfucking a society there before getting involved in unfucking a society with the Reach nearby as an additional complication.

"What Paul means for the OLC to be" has no relevance, because he's bizarrely chosen not to be the person deciding the OLC's meaning.
Untrue. The person in charge of a country or corporation does not automatically get to decide the whole of everything in the organisation he runs. That much of the overarching purpose and framework could be decided by something like a constitution, charter, Supreme Court, Board of Directors, or shareholders. The Founding Fathers did not all run America as President. They did make it what it was.

If you are unable to conceive of a Corps built to Pauls image, but Vox being in charge, that is intellectual ignorance on your part.

Regarding the FAQ/spoilers bit, they could simply be grouped by chapters.
Like don't read FAQ part B until you've read up to chapter X.
That way everyone will be up to speed with what they need to know as they go.
