...

– We've started international relief effort, how can we evolve it further?

– Pegicles is our current enemy. How can we help Maretonians true successor defeat him? (while persuing our interest)

– Our father-in-law want's some bonding time. What exactly will that entail? (maybe hunting some "terrorists" aka fallen nobles that want to do something bad?)

– "The Belle of the Ball" = everyone'ss smitten by this beautiful girl, envy that she's with the crown prince... and then shocked when they realize WHO she is. Can't wait to see that.

A look into the Griffonian Army Training Program Teaser/Post to remove from back of brain

"ALRIGHT YOU MISERABLE SLAGS OF WASTE!!" Shouts the imposing griffon before a line of fresh faced recruits "You have made the oh so smart choice of signing up with the Griffonian Army and that means it is up to me to turn you Pathetic" He says glaring at a small diamond dog standing rigid "Useless" He says glaring at a crystal pony who glares straight ahead "Absolute wastes OF MY DAMN TIME!!" He screams, spittle flying from his beak before he sneers at the recruits "I am going to break you, I am going to smash you to a pulp, and I will then mold you to be soldiers for our emperor's army." He says pacing before the group "By the end of your stay at our lovely little slice of tartarus you will be able to fight and win and will learn to do it all on command." He says pausing and staring them down. "Is that understood?" He says with an icy voice. "Sir yes Sir!" They chant back "Are you all shy or some shit? I SAID AM I UNDERSTOOD?!!" He all but roars at them "SIR YES SIR!!" They chant back making him grudgingly nod "That is more like it." He says "Now that that is out of the way go to your assigned squad housing and await further commands, AND MOVE OUT!!" He screams and the soldiers begin moving in orderly lines towards the small dug out barracks scattered around the facility.

To be fair, it is probably hard to do a whole scene focused on whipping a bunch of greenhorns into shape without giving off Mulan vibes, since THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE SONG IS ABOUT. So, it probably means you are doing a pretty good job. :D
Eh, it was half a teaser and half a "GET OUT OF MY HEAD" post.

If someone else wants to take over it feel free but I might not be continuing it as posting that seems to have gotten it out.

How strong is our army again? Did our veterans pass down lessons so our troops are more resistent to morale debuffs?

I think during the Sombra war our people were similar to this but had the benefit of being behind a fortified position and more men which let us evebtually win without horrific causalties.

...Now I want us to have an Elite force similar to the Lamenters (I just love those poor sods and it´s great to see that they are still getting recognized by - comparetively - big names in the fandom)

Thank you, guys, for the suggested tropes. I updated the page accordingly.

And now more for extra fun!

Superman Stays Out of Gotham: Marecinas insists on the Griffon Empire not directly intervening in the Maretonia Civil War

Fantastic Racism: Completely averted within the Griffon Empire, Emperor Garrick undertaking many projects to eliminate this trope wherever possible to avoid problems. Naturally, this only adds to his status as the Good King.

Graceful Winner: Upon the defeat of his enemies, the first thing King (later Emperor) Garrick does is fund projects to repair any damage to the other nation's infrastructure in order to benefit everyone as a whole.

Had to Be Sharp: Essentially the Griffon Empire's hat. It has thrived despite its harsh environment and lacking the magic of other nations which is no small feat.

Master Swordsman: Many characters, Konrad Hardbeak standing above all of them. Brochard, Sombra's Eldritch Abominations, and even Sombra himself learn this the hard way.

Minor Crime Reveals Major Plot: The theft of Brochard's treasury incites Ravenburg to find it, eventually causing the Griffon Empire to discover the existence of the Changelings.

Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: The Griffon Empire's efforts to distract Maretonia ends up contributing to the ruling monarch's demise and subsequent civil war

Nice Job Fixing It, Villain!: While the Changelings didn't intend for it by manipulating Brochard, thanks to their actions the Griffon Empire is reborn and more powerful than ever before under the Good King Garrick Golden-Feather

Shout Out:
- Gabriella's use of an avalanche to wipe out an invading army brings to mind Mulan doing something similar to the Huns

Slave to PR: Emperor Garrick is more than aware of the need for a good reputation, hence his many projects to improve the lives of his citizens and his allies over excessive military spending. The fact that he enjoys helping those in need only further endears him to the public.

Not really, what they wanted was to deal with brochard. Which worked beautifully. If anything, it worked too well, as we wound up nearly toppling their house of cards later on.

Edit:They dealt with the obvious threat, only to have the other also be a threat, just quite a bit more subtle.

That or put him further under their sway. Brochard was all about brute force, someone far easier to manipulate than someone like Garrick. Convincing Brochard to eliminate Garrick could be interpreted as the changelings simply trying to get rid of Garrick before he becomes too powerful. If that's the case, one could add Self-Fulfilling Prophecy to the list as their attempt to destroy a potential threat gave rise to a real one. If Garrick had died, Lady Nightingale could have used the success to convince Brochard that his victory was due to the Queen's predictions, opening Griffonia to further changeling influence.

I'm interpreting the changelings' actions as them using past knowledge to recognize how Garrick's decisions generally lead to a more stable government and general success than Brochard's tyranny. The changelings are very much aware of how intelligence can trump brawn, seeking to kill Garrick before it can become a reality. I'm beginning to wonder if we'll get an interlude from Phalanx's perspective as she tries to deal with the Empire's choices, likely ruining even more plans that Rose wasn't privy to like Garrick's decision to boost other religions other than her own.

"Phalanx took a gamble. A Griffin Empire united under a war-monger like Brochard would have been a threat to Canterbury, and by extension the Hive. Either you'd win and prevent that from happening...or Brochard would be weakened by the fight against you and thus be easier to deal with. Though if it makes you feel any better, this was the ideal outcome."
Going by Rose, it worked as intended. The only problem was they did not know just how big a threat we could become. We are not the sort who would invade without a good reason, which was why they perceived us. What they did not know, was our intelligence apparatus that happens to make us a threat of a different kind, one that would directly threaten them.

Hoist by His Own Petard might be more fitting, since they did insufficient investigation of the groups involved, leading to this. After all, who could out-spy the Changelings?

That would require Garrick to be seen as explicitly hostile and harmful to their plans, which he never was. Rose already said that Changelings much prefer having prosperous and peaceful polities around - a description that fits Gryphus under Garrick to a T. Only now that they slowly become aware of just how good our intelligence apparatus is, do they realize that we might be a threat on account of either deliberately or accidentially find them. That´s why Rose interceded by averting our eyes from anything too suspicious.

While Rose did go rogue in a way, she still seems to largely belief in her Hive´s opinion that they don´t want to be our enemies if it can be helped.

I'm gonna have to remember to put these trope in later. I have less time today than I thought I would have. But I'm glad with all the interest people have in getting more tropes added. :)

Say, speaking of "little time", I wanted to ask you about whether your Jurassic Park quest has been abandoned, since the last update has been a while.

Was interested when I clicked on the link, but then it seemed to have ended.

Question but can Changelings mind control Trolls to use as a fighting force?

Changelings by themselves can´t mind-control at all.

Not saying that they couldn´t theoretically learn a mindcontrol spell should one exist, just that we right now don´t know of anything their repertoire capable of ACTUAL mind control (that potion that Canterburians drink on induction into the Knights of the Lady only makes them more suspectible to suggestion just like hypnosis does...nothign more)

That's... complicated. I haven't so much abandoned it as put it on the back burner. I got horrifically depressed a while back and I got burnt out writing it. I intend to get back into doing it, but right now it is up in the air.

only the Qilin and the dragons of the known species live for longer. Qilin for I think 120 to 150 years max, dragons... eh, a thousand years at least, possibly more. Maybe they don't even die of old age, it's hard to tell

Well, Alicorns and Discord too :p

...you know, it's been a while since I last spoke about my hopes for Garrick's ascension. We certainly deserve it more than, say, CADENCE! :V

I can see two possible routes to an alicorn-like ascension as of right now: faith from the emperor's cult, or maybe if we power up the crystal heart enough we could get a power-up from it, or it could work as a catalyst for an ascension kind of like the elements of harmony were for twilight (and another artifact of which I don't remember the name did it for Cadence. I don't think it has ever been clearly stated if Celestia and Luna were born alicorn or not, i've seen sources point to both possibilities)

So at most we have around 46 years left in game
We all pretty much agreed to let Gawain take the thrones not too far in the future. Probably not before the end of the Maretonian civil war (which at this point shouldn't really last more than 2 or 3 turns more at most).

We MIGHT delay that a bit if we thing we can deal with the changeling quickly enough, but by that reasoning we'll ALWAYS have something we'd want to complete before we give up the throne. At this point the most important thing about it is simply making sure that Gawain is ready. Once he's on the thrones Garrick can relax a bit, maybe take up an advisor position (I could see him giving one or two extra actions for example)
