We will always have control of the ruler as for the foreseeable future so i dont see how it would ever happen that we would have a power drunken ruler since we will still be controling them just like we did now. Unless somthing drastic happens with the rules of who we take over after death i dont see how its going to be an issue for this quest.

Why are people pushing so hard for democracy, while saying that one of our descendant can be a shitty ruler down the line?

It's not like democracy protects against shitty rulers... Yeah, they get less time to drag our country down, but the chance of a bad ruler is probaby even higher. And we do have a family member that is a dragon, as well as that Nighponese emperor who will be around in the future.

Additionally, we are the ruler. We can get a person with low stats, but we will be making decisions regardless of the ruler's competence.

what happens when the neron of our dinasty is born?
As I keep trying to say and as Raptor and Hahden has also said, that is not a problem for us. We will be possessing our heir soon enough and unless something changes in the rules we will continue to rule for eternity. A "Neron" will never be a problem for us beyond having shitty stats.

Yeah, sounds like we probably won't need democracy unless
A. We start going massively into debt.
B. We suddenly lose a LOT of popularity, particularly among the nobles or our advisors.
Or
C. We are voluntarily ending the quest and know we won't be playing as future rulers.

D. If we do a time skip to see how things pan out and get closer to the canon date

I'm terribly sorry about the gaps between my updates. Writer's block is a serious pain, and Real Life is never cooperative when it comes to giving me time to write.

I have the Rumor Mill ready, but the Gawain Interlude is taking me some more time to write. I've come to the conclusion that I'm just really not that good when it comes to slice of life stuff.

In the meantime, have some Images of Garrick and Ravenburg to tide you over for just a bit longer.

You say your not good at the slice of life stuff, yet every single one of them that you have writen have been some of the best stuff ive enjoyed on this site. It may take you a while yes but that just means you put the best effort into making it what it should be.

Trust me when I say that I know just how nasty writer´s block can be...after all, my ow progress with my current recursive One Piece fanfic teds to be pretty glacial as well.

That being said, it probably is asking to much to wanna know if the two Rumor Mill incidents that got rolled are good or bad for us, right?

Unfortunately my friend that info will only be revealed when the rumor mill gets posted. But that's what makes them so much fun to read. The not knowing.

One thing I notice while rereading the Gala interlude:

Technnically, Ki Seong announced herself incorrectly, since in Japan surnames come first, then personal...meaning that she should have announced herself as *Seong Ki* - then again, given that she is the daughter of a diplomat, she probably thought ahead and used a more Gryphonian style of adress to prevent any unneeded confusion.

...Now I wonder, what Gawain *actually* said, but since no diplomatic incident followed the gala, it probably was something major or the Neighponese understood that he didn´t mean it and simply botched the greeting without any malice behind it.

You know, I wouldn´t be surprised at all if once Gawain succeeds his father, Ki and Sebastian get to join his advisor corps

Sebastian as the head scholar - let´s be honest, as much of a genius Archimedes is undoubtely, he is getting on in years slowly but surely
Ki as his diplomatic liasion - like father, like daughter, you know?

As for Isabelle, she of course might be facing a bright future as his Queen.

What can I say? I like loose ends resolving themselves...

A possible future poster for Changeling-Griffon relations:

As much as I really would like for us to get the Changelings on our side as friends (let´s be honest: they are among the coolest race in Genn 4 and would make perfect therapeuts, method actors and yes, also spies as well), first we need to:

- find those elusive "buggers"
- manage to change their culture away from Chrysalis ravenous, conquering swarm and towards something closer to Thorax´ approach (although I am not really a fan of their "harmonic" new forms and the underlying message of "Beauty = Good, Hideousness = Evil")

Also...where can I get that fanart? looks awesome and even sports correct German

OK, found these few pics and decided, while too "unrealistic" they should be seen here:

and

or better yet:

if we're talking about changeling look at most IMHO they would be with no holes. Somehow I always perceived those as the physical manifestation of their hunger: the longer they are without food, the more and larger holes they have.

Though if we're talking about different species/civilizations that we didn't talk (I think) what about Yetis? Y'know Stor King's and his minion's species?
My best guess would be we could meet them further south in some mountainous area. Would they be like discount griffins (aka no flight and minor magic, either Ice or more ambiguous like Diamond Dogs)? They seem to be adapted to cold, windy climates so...

For the cited example: RichMay on Deviantart, he some of EaW's Changeling stuff like this:

Here's a list of all EaW's artist with links to their artwork. Some of it is suitable for our semi-medieval setting, others are just WWII.

Though arguably the Changelings aren't the most morally bad faction, there are worse groups like the Solar Empire under God-Empress Daybreaker, Hellquill's Reformisten (think Nazi Griffons mixed with Unit 731) and Baltimare under... Lavender Berry.

The last one doesn't sound as threatening, but de-ponify the name and you'll realise why.

Weren´t there also weird cultists under Ahuizotl and a bonafide zombie apocalypse as (event) factions in EaW?

But yeah, cosidering the competition EaWs Changelings actually aren´t that nasty, with the Reformisten, the more evil versions of Daybreaker, Lavender Berry (don´t really remember her deal though), the nneccromancers and Ahuizotl being at least as bad if not worse...plus, as Changelings you can go Harmonic and be one of the explicitly nicer factions.

Children of the Sun and the Dread League. The former is a fundamental religious extremists who only appear at the end of Berry's tree and do mass pony sacrifice to appease their living God. On the other hand the Dread League (for all their evilness) don't really become a threat until late game (unless you're the Arcturian Order a.k.a Griffon Paladins) and by then your only concern will be the numbers they can bring.

Lavender Berry (don´t really remember her deal though),

First Berry is a he, secondly Lavender Berry is the pony version of Lavrentiy Beria.

His South-East State is an oppressive totalitarian dystopia (one of two 1984-style nations with the other being MARESOC's Big Sister in New Mareland), but it stands out even amongst other totalitarian states in EAW by how he deals with lunar and indigenous resistance; fire. Berry indiscriminately bombs the jungles with thousands of canisters of napalm, thermite, and other incendiaries, burning down massive portions of the jungle and killing untold numbers of civilians, thestrals (batponies), and natives. The army would then move in and clean out any resistance with flamethrowers, destroying hundreds of indigenous villages and burning their people alive.

Gameplay wise, it means that Berry wipes out a sixth of the South-East State's total population and terrifies what resistance survives into rallying around the Children of the Sun to launch a civil war.

I would like make a point in relation to this quest: shouldn't it be Emperor Garrick instead of Emperor Golden-Feather as Golden-Feather is the Noble House Name of the Imperial Family?
