Aquileia Invades Wingbardy!: After years of brewing tensions, the day so many have feared finally comes. Messengers from King Brochard send Duke Talonuelli an ultimatum: submit or be destroyed. Less than an hour after the couriers arrive at the Wingbardian Capital, the armies of Aquileia cross the border. Duke Talonuelli hastily orders his own army to rally around the Capital in preparations for a siege. The war to reunite the Empire has finally begun.

Well would you look at that, a Casus Belli, just lying there, where anyone could come along and take it.

Shall we?

Of course.
-We have the moral high ground
-Watching bandits raze the countryside until they're killed by our troops is good for relations.
-It's our troops plus wingbardys
-Bond with Best Father-In-Law Post-war by talking shit to all the neutral city states that don't get a share of the spoils.

We're not going to get a better chance than this.

To be fair like the GM said that should a change happen the League will probably be more willing to take action, WE just happen to be said change. So shall we

What is this, Pearl harbor 2.0 the Griffin Bugaloo? The general rule with sending messages of this sort you give the recipient some time to reply.

It's a good thing we had that defensive pact with them. Not that we need much of a reason he's blatantly invading the buffer state. But we do have diplomatic reason to get involved because of that treaty we had with that buffer state. Just because it was enacted to deal with all the raids doesn't mean it wasn't still in effect. We're never told the defensive pact was over so it still stands. Sending the first wave, have our troops gear upgraded, and start recruiting more soldiers. Preferably Spears soldiers since that is superior to the sword. They're all made is a lot easier to make someone proficient with a spear in a year that it is to try and get them to any level competency with a sword in that same time.

I must say though it is sad to go from the happiest moment in our lives of becoming a father to the worst moment of war finally coming to us.

We shall make king blowhard pay for disturbing our happy moment :mad::mad:

"We have protected Wingbardy once, we shall do so again! None shall steal from them on our watch! No not hungry trolls nor griffon brigants, and least of all the Brigant King!"

Considering the situation with Wingbardy I'd say this song is a bit more appropriate considering what we will be doing.
When at the end of the 17th century the Ottoman Empire had reached its greatest extent, the Turks under Grand Vizier Kara Mustafa Pasha tried to capture the imperial city of Vienna and thereby throw open the gateway to Central Europe. In 1683 he laid siege to the fortress with 140,000 troops, while there were only 11,000 men available for the city defense.

In the following 60-days lasting siege the Turks built mines below the city walls, which they intended to bring down with explosive charges. These were on the verge of detonating, when on 11 September the Polish-German relief force arrived, with troops from the Holy Roman Empire (Austria, Bavaria, Franconia, Saxony, Swabia) and the Republic of Venice, under the leadership of Poland. The tide of battle was turned on 12 September, when the Polish King John III. Sobieski led his elite troops of the Winged Hussars (Husaria) down the Kahlenberg in the largest cavalry charge in history, battering the Ottoman elite of the Sipahi and Janissaries and entering the enemy camp.

Not for Brochard. Brochard is the 'evil tyrant' archetype we are facing. Also Brochard is utterly failing at diplomatic connections to the point that he looks like an idiot.

Anything he has done diplomatically shows incompetence. At least the obvious stuff he did. Brochard is not a competent ruler, as far as we have been told at all. But even incompetent Rulers can have many willing fighters from flawed economic systems.

Can we actually write that in the header to our declaration of war? Please?
No no i think our declaration should go something like " Dear king Blowhard im so glad you heard the news of my newborn son and have decided to gift him your lands and kingdom as a present i shall be sending my soldiers to collect it at once sincerely Garrick Golden-Feathered"

Or we could stay out let him take it over lose most of his men and then kill him and take both Wingbardy and the Aquileia thus unifying most of the griffin empire

You know what that makes me what to write an omake. I think I would do one of the king rallying his people to march in support of our neighbor. Really try to rouse that spirit. King blowhard wants a War so badly then we will give him one. Only by the end he will be the one left in ruin and chains.

The defensive pact was conditional toward beasts, diamond dogs and other such things, excluding actual griffin kingdoms.

That being said, I see no reason with the clear infamy of our opponent that our involvement wasn't justified.

I say we go to war to protect them. Defeat blowhard which will be enough to piss off his people and cause a revolt in his territory. We let that play out we don't intervene. Once we push them out of the buffer state. We talk to the Duke and let him know that he is still an independent ruler. That if he wants our troops to leave they will but if he wants them to stay they will as well. make it so he understands that we would still come to his aid no matter what he decides. This point one of two things happen either willingly bend the knee, or or he remained independent would even better relations with us. I don't want to conquer them I want them to willingly join us. This war either gets that or makes it much more likely later on.
