I haven't been here for that long but I would have thought that allies of convenience would be a descriptor for a rank of 5-6

Timewinders' question ideas seem pretty good to me, though I am also curious about the Queen and Consort's titles but that seems less relevant for a first meeting kind of discussion

Not much need to ask if they practice slavery (they wouldn't speak like that if they did).
Not much of a point in asking about relations with Maretonia (they are poor), nor whether they'd go to war (you don't just discuss such a matter like that right there in the field). Same with trade.

No reason to assume they are matriarchal, strictly speaking; questions about swords would be really OOC; the last question reads like we're taking them hostage

Tinfoil hat on more ponies does Griffonia contain the last of the griffon race or did the defeat of Discord by the sisters cause more ponies to come in existence or changed other races into ponies.

I'm not sure if I'm getting Bretonnia vibes or that French/English period of history.

In any case, allies of convenince is an excellent way of describing our relationship. We've got no real affection for one-another, but as of the moment our strategic interests align, so as of the moment we're friends.

I mean, the "lands/countries" question will cover the first one.

It seems unlikely that they'd have a navy though, unless they stretch all around Maretonia in the south.

With the Neighponese and Sombra it was a completely different kettle of fish, but with these newcomers we must not start with any such overtures or askance.

I was thinking we start with some small talk, given that they already see us as allies of convenience. Exchange some basic info about our nations: geography, demographics, customs, if they have sea access etc.
