There isn't really a Ranaldian church. Both because Ranaldians are intrinsically difficult to organise, and because anything that did manage to form would be enthusiastically broken up by anyone in the Empire with power. Congregations just tend to self-organise around anyone charismatic and pious.
There is a Ranaldian Church in Marienburg, and there might be ones in Tilea/Estalia. It's The Empire and Brettonia that have it limited to underground local congregations.

Right, but like... Heidi can't "give orders" to the Marienburg Ranaldites on account of being the "High Priestess" or whatever, at least as I understand it. There's no org chart, it's just a bunch of anarchistic coops - some of which are much more established and powerful than others, but that doesn't give them intrinsic authority over those with less power or divine favor.

And like any Anarchist movement, any attempt to organize will turn into a circular firing squad over doctrine. I'd fully expect a sizeable number of Ranaldites to want to murder Heidi for being the Empress, even leaving aside Wizard Ranaldites mad over her getting them blamed for stealing the Imperial Treasury.

Another random thought, but this is the second time we've heard about someone using planar shifts to hide something, with Clag and the Grey College both. On the very off chance Teclis hears about this whole thing and decides to come talk to us about it, I wonder if we can get some pointers to do it ourselves. Being able to stick a tower in the Shadow Realm would be an awesome security measure. Also probably useful for research.

I would like to point out that, from what I know, the shadow realm and the warp are very different things.

Someone (not me, I'm just repeating it) already came up with the perfect name for the eventual paper on Vlag

Stone Is An Insufficient Insulator of Mathilde

So, somewhat random thought: Bok has 5 runes approximately where its soul would be. This is very exciting for Kragg, or at least it would be if he could see them. We want to make a sevirroscope so he can see these runes, as well as whatever else he might be able to use it for, in the hopes that he might glean something about the making of golems.

My thought is this: what runes would you expect to see at the center of Bok, a masterwork collaboration between elves and dwarves? Because I'll tell you what rune springs to my mind: the Rune of Sorcery.

One reason I want to go heavy on the people and socials is that... We have a lot of people to watch over, a lot of targets to cover and targets to meet.
Most of this expedition was pre-screened at various levels. Its not perfect, but it mitigates a lot of the possible threat.
Especially when dwarves are the numerical majority here.

We also take into account the fact that Mathilde is not doing the watching alone.
Note that a fair number of the wizards on this trip are people Mathilde has worked with for a long time, who are doing their own routine awareness of the Expedition and can raise their own concerns with her. And the rest got College vetting IIRC.

But there is no one else equipped for reconnaissance of the locations of the skaven combes and Uzulak.
The Knights can scout the wilderness. Mathilde is the only one who can scout enemy cities and bases without pulling aggro back to the Expedition.
Chaos will not necessarily ignore you because you ignore it.

Having not one but two Chaos-aligned forward bases along our line of travel is the sort of thing that we should want eyes-on recon as a pressing priority, even before the Lord of Change went wandering in that general direction.

EDIT
But we can't, because we also have to touch bases with the leaders of the expedition too.
Bears pointing out that we have somewhat more personal experience with the leaders of this expedition than we did with Belegar's Boys when we headed out to K8P.

@BoneyM, in terms of apparel and physical features, what does Panoramia look like?

I'm not great at questions like this because I don't really have a mental image of characters, I have a sort of cloud of traits and skills and foibles and goals with a nametag. I guess it'd boil down to something like: robes, boots when she's working or hiking, sandals when she's not, silver sickle in her belt, tanned arms and face, fit, about five foot even. Long hair that's tied back when she remembers to, a staff that takes root of its own accord so it's normally standing upright somewhere near her. A satchel on her side full of well-cushioned pockets for holding flasks and bottles that are usually full of soil and plant samples.

But if any of the above disagrees with anyone's mental image, feel free to keep your own.

None of that contradicts my two skaven in a large coat theory :V

But Ranald already has a moustache. Does Handrich have multiple?
It's glued directly on top of the first.

It doesn't even match the rest of his hair. The clergy is stuck pretending very poorly that they don't notice.

If no one says anything in the next decade or so he is upgrading to a silly dress.

Maybe he can borrow one of Mathilde's robes. They're quite stylish, and comfortable besides given she wears them every day.
