This sentence reads weirdly to me, and I can't quite put my finger on why. I think it's the nearby "as"s. Maybe "is as strongly influenced by Hysh as a zealot is..."? Or "is influenced as much by Hysh as a zealout is..."?

I think I blurred together 'as strongly influenced as' and 'influenced as much by'. Tweaked it.

did she just call all of us baby magicians

There are several ways to translate it, the kindest of which is that she doesn't like male spellcasters. But yes, 'baby magicians' is on the table.

So it's a source of a magical mystery? Even better! Insight roll it is! Here's hoping for a magic trait upgrade.
Very bad idea. As far as I can find, the closest thing to a canon fate of Karak Vlag (the background of a narrative campaign - Hunt of the Vlagians - in a 2008 issue of White Dwarf) is that it got dragged whole into the Realm of Slaanesh and any resident not taken with it was hunted down by an army of daemons.

So, y'know, poking the site is probably a good way to get munched by a hell-portal.

Huh, that did settle a lot of my concern with Borek. He's clearly done the maths and despite "rushing" into this expedition, there's some sound thinking behind it.

Deathfang, on the other hand, seems to hold grave disdain for the "naturalized" Dragons. Heh. I kind of find it interesting in comparing Traditionalist Dawi to the Radicals.

"Is the Expedition feeding the two of you?" you ask, partly curious after your conversation with Borek and partly to change the subject.

"We procure our own provisions," Asarnil says with a sniff, "and I have enough with me to last the journey. When we arrived in the Old World, we very quickly learned not to rely on our employers for sustenance. I have seen feasts thrown by human kings that would make an Asur pauper weep with shame if they fed them to their beasts."

"If necessary, it will be little hardship to fast from here to there and back," Deathfang says. "But I've found there are very few places on this continent where you cannot find something to kill and eat."

So they're basically machines where you feed in gold and they dispense violence on a level comparable with the rest of the expedition combined, but unlike the rest of the expedition they don't require food or fuel. WOW. No wonder Borek couldn't say no.

Ya, but I'm not sure if the sisterhood doesn't plan for us to have an 'accident' after we got them their Mcguffen. So we can't tell anyone what it is.

the fact that they sent the one of them that has the best chance against a LM doesn't fill me with confidence.

That McGuffin would have to be enough to risk open war with the Empire and the Karaz Ankor. That's a big risk to take.

... Wonder if Karag Vlag would be a good future Loremaster of K8P project to suggest to Belegar?

It is on the other side of the continent and provides no immediate benefits. Rather iffy as a Loremaster project.

[ ] Visit the former site of Karak Vlag

This one has to be done, not even really expecting much but gotta do it.

[ ] Ranging far ahead of the convoy
[ ] Magister Michel Solmann
[ ] Ice Crone Ljiljana

As for the last ones, talk to the other magister we've not said hello to, do some scouting further ahead and talk with the ice witch.

That's protagonist hubris speaking.

Per BoneyM we can credibly claim to have the best windsight in the colleges and possibly the old world currently, it's absolutely worth our taking a look.

Going to be voting like this when it opens:

[ ] Ice Crone Ljiljana
[ ] Magister Michel Solmann
[ ] Journeyman Cyrston von Danling
[ ] Journeywoman Alexandra Kohler

I want to finish doing a roundup of the people we're directly responsible for, as well as getting an idea of what Ljiljana is up to. In particular, I really want to check out Cyrston, because of this observation:
[X] Journeyman Cyrston von Danling
I find him suspicious. Yeah, there were Green is sus! jokes after his introduction, but his explanation of 'Don't worry about my magic getting more powerful as summer approaches and we coincidentally head into the Chaos Wastes, that's just my seasonal attunement acting up' is awfully convenient for him.
Now, one might say "but wait, this is a canonical character and is totally legit there," to which I would point out that we're on an expedition to Karag Dum with Egrimm van Horstmann and we have been actively told not to assume either of these work the same way they do in canon, and that's not even considering the notion that this might not really be Cyrston von Danling and might just be using his name.

Personally I think we should go to Karak Vlag if for no other reason than the chance to work our avatar and windsight traits. Outside of talking with the Ice witch none of the other actions are as important at this point.

We do apparently have amongst the best Windsight in the Old World, plus Avatar to detect divine interference.

And yet, Mathilde failed to even notice Grombrindal.

I am very certain that Mathilde wouldn't notice anything, it's just not the QM's style.

Anyway, I am extremely glad that we had this chat with Borek, and wouldn't be opposed to another. It gaves multiple valuable insights in his character and outlook.

Furthermore, the better we get to know him, the greater the chance to be able to influence him, even a bit, when push comes to shove.

Also, let me just say that it is such a relief when characters aren't 1-dimensional caricatures.

And yet, Mathilde failed to even notice Grombrindal.

Grombrindal being a 'god' might be true but he's certainly not operating on the scale of the other ancestor gods and especially not the same scale as the human gods do. Mathilde failing to notice him is sorta meaningless, beyond that pretty sure this option was offered by the QM, i can't imagine the QM would offer it if there's literally nothing that could happen here.

The chat with Asarnil and Deathwing was quite fun. I can't help but imagine their respective reactions if we'd actually chosen to court Cython at this point, too. Elf/Dragon relationships are a thing that happens now and then, right? So the weird part would be that we're human, rather than it happening at all?
I mean, that and the fact that we had the poor taste to court a debased mutant traitor.

But yeah, Borek seems more on the 'determined and focused' end of the scale, which was reassuring.

Strongly disagree. We should try to get our conversations with the movers and shakers on this expedition done quickly so that when we hit the actually dangerous part of it (the Skull Road onward) we have the AP to spare for scouting and adventures then. Speculative sightseeing isn't important compared to "hey, what are the motivations of the powerful wizards we're responsible for?", or the other four council members we have yet to talk to.

Which is why I'm perfectly happy to vote for the other magister option and the ice witch, the journey men don't need to be hand held and their impact isn't going to be as great. You call it speculative sight seeing as if that's a bad thing. I'm interested to see what BoneyM intends with this option I don't think it's being offered as a giant nothing burger.
