Pretty sure Thane is a life title - it just can't be passed on like the Thane titles for heads of clans are.

As a feudal title that almost certainly means that Mathilde will perpetually remain in Belegar's service in her capacity as Belegar's vassal (just like she's Roswita's vassal as Dame of Stirland) - since Dawi rarely leave their holds in the long run Mathilde going somewhere else to do something is likely to be viewed as a temporary arrangement (sort of like Gotri being in Karaz a Karak or Kragg going to K8P for a few decades to study runes).

We haven't encountered that many bona fide Warbosses - there's the goblin warboss dealing with Moulder which we shot and didn't loot; the Karagil Warboss and Birdmuncha (whose artefacts could have been looted or destroyed by Cython). The others were pumped up Bosses that wanted to get the Warboss slot but not the real deal.

Lots of interesting options. Borek and Gotrek are really good to know; Borek since he's the commander and Gotrek since we ought to pass Gotri's offer sooner rather than later. Other than that dragon is very tempting.
