Currently, you're in the top three in the Empire for most dwarf rep, after the Elector Counts of Ostermark and Averland. That may chance depending on events in the coming Elector's Meet.
Dwarf Rep is both a rating and a currency - having 15 points means that every dwarf that meets you is going to know you as Dawri. This is a word that means 'as good as something can get without proving itself over a few decades', or, literally, 'dwarf-like'. You helped Zhufbar and Karak Kadrin strike out some very old grudges that otherwise would have been very, very difficult to set right, and that's no small matter.
You can spend the currency to represent calling in favours, but the rating won't drop unless you actually act against the interests of dwarfkind. I'll probably end up recording it as '15 rep, 15 unspent' or similar.
Interesting. The dwarfs are meticulous about favors as everything else certainly.
[*]Have them send trainers for the watch
One point for skilled but common in dwarf society (Miners), two for specialized units (Rangers), four for true expertise (Ironbreakers), eight for hero-level instruction.
[*]Have them send experts to assist in setting up industry for turning that saltpeter into quality gunpowder
Five points.
[*]Personally tutor Mathilde in mundane fields (combat, tactics, mathematics, history)
Same scale as the trainers, depending on the quality of the teacher.
Lets see. For the dwarf trainers we probably want Rangers for the Watch at this phase of the War Below, which is mostly Skaven moving around while humans move around as well. We need trackers and investigators who can delve deep and unknown tunnels and report back. That said, when we book this we should clear the schedule to participate in the training as well.
Ironbreakers and Hero training is wasted for now. I don't think our Watchmen even have the basic fitness to finish the training.
Sub-Dawi grade gunpowder...orthogonal to our job, but this would both solve the financial problems for the forseeable future AND probably cause some trouble down the line with Nuln, who'd probably be a little bit unhappy about the competition. Save for later.
Personal tutoring in mathematics...four points would probably go a very long way towards her wizard career. Less so for combat and tactics since she's a wizard and fights completely differently from dwarfs, but I'd probably add Smithing to the table(AFTER learning the basics from a human smith) for when we want to craft our own equipment.
[*] Or in Khazalid?
Four points.
Given how closely the dwarfs keep it to their chest, of limited use.
[*]Let Mathilde move into a dwarf hold and live there
If you promise to refrain from spellcasting inside the Hold, and would be willing to live in the bunkhouses, your rep would be enough.
[*] While conducting magical research?
Four points, and you'd have to work out a way to have a laboratory far from the populated parts of the hold.
High praise indeed.
[*]Have one of their experts consult with Mathilde on vaguely appropriate magical matters (enchantment, Qhaysh Juice study)
Same scale as the trainers, with a 12 if you want to briefly collaborate with a Runelord.

I'm not sure how the techniques crossover, but presumably by the time collaborating with a Runelord would be only worth the Runelord's time AFTER we're in the running for Wizard Lord...
[*]Provide her with/sell her enchanted equipment of their make
Eight points to commission something from a runesmith; you'd specify the item but they'd decide the details, since it would be a gift rather than a purchase. (yes you spend dwarf rep but that's an abstraction, it would be a gift)
[*] Or mundane but high-quality equipment, such as pistols?
Your rep means they'll sell them to you, or you can spend four points to commission something.
[*] Or have an expert collaborate on an enchantment project with her?
Would need to be arranged personally with the expert, but two points could get you an introduction and their ear.
Expensive, but high quality swords and guns are nice.
A bulk purchase for our Watch elites would not go amiss either, but our Rep also opens doors for supporting Gustav in his efforts to restore the Greatswords by getting them good gear.
[*]Help Mathilde dig or renovate an underground base somewhere
Two points to dig, five to renovate it so that it'll last at least a thousand years. It would cost more to renovate it to a lesser standard.
[*] In total secrecy?
As above, and you provide the ale.
Not really worthwhile yet. But heh.
Net result, my proposed spending:
-Immediate
--2 points on Rangers. Mathilde sets time aside to be trained along with the Watch.
-Mid term
--5 points on Gunpowder production refinement. Depends on the new boss.
-Long term
--Reserve 8 points for personal improvement. Possible combos:
---8 points for enchantment consultation.
---4 points for learning forgework. 4 points for improving Mathematics
I really don't want to roll back the fog of war from an entire continent because of how much extra work it would take on my part to bring the rest of the continent to life.
Yeah. Also keeping in mind dwarfs would find the idea uncomfortable to routinely write to a human enough to constitute a rumor mill.
AND of course, their focus on entirely different matters than we do.
That said, I suspect if they found a Waagh coming or something of immediate strategic value they might write a letter. Might.
Correct. The Empire is polytheistic, and most hold to a single patron god while still acknowledging the others. On top of that, Grey Wizards are usually secular. As long as you don't actually start defacing Sigmarite churches or similar, merely believing bad things about him won't make the sharks start circling.
I just imagined Mathilde sneaking into churches and toiletpapering the roof overnight.
We already worship a prohibited god so actively disliking Sigmar doesn't make much difference.
There is a significant difference. I support the Sigmar vote, but don't underestimate the consequences.
That said, for those opposing the Sigmar vote, you guys are doing it wrong.
A big chunk of the Sigmar voters are there
because fear of battle was the leading option. You might have better luck promoting alcoholism.
Lately? Dudes always been a bit scared of us, like the rest of Stirland.
And we were the picture of a driven but calm, in control commanding officer after showing the stick.
I'm not sure Mathilde was calm to anyone but US. I would not be surprised if she conducted the whole thing with wide, bloodshot eyes and clenched teeth.
