So a turn's leeway, no more than two. Gotcha
Got it I will not think in set wounds for this quest. I think our biggest mistake of the quest was how we decided to move on the town but even that was not a really bad idea just not the best one and then the rolls decided to screw us.
Not even then. Based on how many undead were there and the possible ritual sites and hell, multiple necromancers?

If we assaulted the Castle immediately we'd have gotten a flanking attack around halfway through.

Which would put us Hammer and Anvil'ed against Castle Drakenhof with a horde.
We'll have to make sure we make a magical healing item for his son. Maybe not right away, but start early so it's actually done before another big battle where our next boss might die starts.

We can't actually. We can enchant magic armor, air running shoes, invisibility cloaks, etc.

But Ulgu does not into healing and Ghyran/Hysh Enchanters are in very great demand(and as per chargen, would avoid the hell out of Stirland if they can)

Kasmir is...Depressed. He's not even in the war council.
We might want to invest a social action after this on him.
"Kasmir, it's okhhhuh. It's not so bhhuh. Haaa. Haaa... Okay, I can do this. Sigmar... isn't... aaaat... I can't do this. It's a lie, it's all a lie, organized religion is corrupt, the domain of fools and madmen! Sigmar is no god of ours!"
*silent nod*
"You did everything you could. God simply failed us is all."
*silent nod*
"... Right! Good talk. See you later."

Also we definately won't do something like that healing item right away I don't think. We are a knight yes, but not a knight in shining armour. We are a grey wizard and thusly very slow to trust. I don't think that will change now that 2 of our biggest friends have died.

Brittle but enduring.
Humans would be Wood then? Malleable but even the finest woods give way before long.

To extend the metaphor, humans can be considered Vornari, which literally means farmers but can be translated as soilfolk. Sometimes usefulness sprouts from them unexpectedly, and careful cultivation often produces good results, but on the whole it's mostly just dirt - crumbles at a touch and gets everything mucky.

Elves don't get the compliment of being compared to some potentially useful plant or mineral. They are elves, and nothing is useless enough to be comparable.

Ah, Clay. Mostly crumbly but with the right cooking can be useful. Still shatters to anything though.

We might want to see about hanging out with Wilhemina after this is all said and done, if she can manage to make it out alive (at this point, I wouldn't put it past the dice to off her despite not being on the battlefield. She'll roll ten consecutive ones and a heavy box will fall on her or something). She might need some backup keeping a lid on her children with half the shareholders dead, and who knows how their replacements will turn out.

EDIT: Wait, shit, Wilhemina is already anti-Sigmarite. How's she going to take the news that Sigmar was completely absent when her dear friend needed him most?

I can see Mathilde going with "Yeah, Sigmar failed you. That's no reason for you to fail Stirland. Get your shit together."

Elves are dicks. Usually soft, deflated and useless, but if they see something they like they turn hard, unreasonable and stop thinking with their brains.

Wilhemina is currently far away, so unless shit goes down everywhere she's safe.

And we definitely need to see her, because Mathilde desperately needs a hug. And cool though they may be, dwarves are not the huggy sort

Not that we'd know since there has yet to be a single one of those in Sylvania.

The one competent one we have the book of.

Not so much likely. Remember roll results are modified by skill and circumstance. Rolling a 1 for working with accounts might lead to grand larceny, but not life and death.

Has there been message to the castle that Van Hal hasn't made it? Seems important to notify his childhood griend Wilhelmina and our Diplomatic friend.

As of the end of the latest update Van Hal has been dead less than twelve hours. Getting from Drakenhof to Wurtbad would take us days, and any mundane messenger weeks- even if they ran into no trouble on the road. In contrast, getting from Drakenhof to Castle Drakenhof takes a handful of hours- on foot.

Given the relative distances involved, there will be no meaningful communication with anyone who isn't here before the assault on Castle Drakenhof has been resolved.

Pragmatically, it also means we have fewer people to deflect blame on if Wilhelmina wants to blame us for her best buddy getting killed.
We are at 9/10 rep with her. I'm expecting a shoulder to cry on rather than accusations.

Ironic opinion, given the High Elves are the ones holding the gates of hell shut.

Ah, heck. Markus too? Yep, we're undoubtedly going to end up the de facto leader of Stirland for at least a turn after the siege ends, until the succession is sorted out.

EDIT: Which really puts a damper on the post-campaign "Battle Wizard NOW!" plan, that I had in mind. Doing the bare minimum of our duties as spymaster in order to become a Battle Wizard ASAP. We did well in battle with the sword, but I think we could've done a lot more, on a much bigger scale, if we had been a proper battle wizard. Maybe even gotten Abelhelm out alive with magic, instead of just holding out for reinforcements while his condition steadily worsened.
We're years from even thinking of becoming a Batlle Wizard. And, quite frankly, I don't think we'd ever go there. Battle Wizards are basically kept in reserve by the Colleges until, well, theres a war on. They're kind of too dangerous to lead independent lives.

No. Mathilde should go for Magister soon. Future goals could include Wizard Lord and, maybe, in a few decades Matriach of the Grey Order...

Have to admit, I'm looking forward to finding out what the Templar's have been doing all this time. Have a feeling they might have been instructed by VH to keep the homefront secure, so when the homecoming happens, they'd probably demand a debrief, since we're the Spymaster.

Almost certain Magister was meant here, just mixed up the titles.
