Will probably be vetoed but I want to see how @BoneyM portraies We humor.

I'll be honest, I don't care for the Empress one whit, and while she's one of the favorites to win, I am kind of hoping she doesn't.

In other news, Gunnars remains a dwarf of mystery.
I concur; I'm a little frustrated that we're allergic to getting to know the people around us. It's early hours yet, but Algard, Roswita, and Heidi are in the top 5, and only two people closer to home that we might conceivably deal with on a more regular basis.

Like, last turn, following up what we did with Roswita made sense, as well as cornering Heidi to ask what the actual fuck. Seeing more of them just feels like a rich-get-richer, characterization-wise.

Ah well.
We have the same enemies.
This will remain just between us.
You can trust me.
The first and the last might not work, because Deceiver only makes him believe we're not lying to him: we might still be wrong, albeit genuine about it.

The second one, though, has potential.

I mean. Isn't that just "having a core cast"?
Sure, but one might expect the core cast to be people we deal with. Roswita and Heidi were guest stars; meanwhile, we have never had an onscreen interaction with the political leader of our species in our new home other than handing over the Torc of Fire, which was just described in a few sentences.

All the soldiers he had given Qrech were loyal to him. They put Qrech in cage, Grot-brained Moulder had many ideas for what he would do with Qrech after 'victory'." Qrech's eyes refocus on reality as he shakes himself loose of the grip of memory. "What happened to them?"

It's the first unprompted question he's asked, and you refrain from smiling. "Dwarves from one side, greenskins from another, Clan Mors from a third. Exterminated."

Qrech's teeth rub against each other in something that sounds almost like a purr. "Good."
That's the Skaven I know

Got a fair bit of info out of him, including a better measure of him as a prisoner
He's cautious, methodical, thoughtful, rarities amongst his kind
Which makes him useful to us, but dangerous, gonna have to keep a close eye on this one

Then you answer a knock on your foyer door to see what you're almost sure is a Priest of Grungni, except unlike every other Priest of Grungni you've ever seen or heard of, he doesn't possess a pick. "SO," he says. He doesn't seem to be shouting, that's just how his voice is. "YOU WISH TO LEARN TO PUNCH."

You've encountered stranger and you refuse to be put on the back foot. "Not personally, for one of my employees."

"THIS IS GOOD. APPROPRIATE LEADERSHIP. LEAD ME TO YOUR EMPLOYEE."
Uh, wow
Alright then, maybe I will end up seeing Johann as Armstrong lite by the end of all this

Everything man knows about the wolf-rats says they are feral, frenzied, and eternally hungry, but logic dictated that the only wolf-rats man would encounter are ones that the Skaven have decided they want man to encounter, which doesn't really tell you much about the base state of the creature. So you and Johann plow forward based not on what you know of wolf-rats, but what you know of these puppies. And while they've certainly got an appetite, they're also inquisitive, playful,
Awww

and able to sit back on their hind paws and use their forepaws as clumsy hands and it's somewhere between adorable and disquieting.
Aaaaahhhh

I mean, I did specifically say I wanted to get to know these characters so we can figure out if Mathilde might want to smooch them, so criticizing my list because we don't know the characters yet feels unfair.
Not meant as a critique exactly.
I meant what I said, that was just my own opinion on the matter and was kinda addressed to people in general.
Sorry if you thought I was focusing in on you to shoot down your ships, the intention was more to just discuss my own feelings on the matter and your list made a convenient sounding board.

You are correct of course, that the solution to not knowing anyone personally enough to really have an intimate relationship with them is to start interacting so as to develop that understanding.
I'm just saying that personally I'm not the type to really start shipping unless I have something to work with.
It was just some inane blabber on my part while I waited for an update, I wasn't really constructive to anything I'm afraid

The problem is Francisco is not very interesting, he is about as typical as competent Tilean Mercenaries get. By contrast Roswita has a fascinating conflict, that is entwined with Mathilde's own history and the Empress is still something of a mystery.

I'd rather not see Roswita again - we saw her last turn, we've had nothing to do with her this turn, she's all the way in Stirland, and it's not nearly as interesting a subject as the birth of maybe-Karl-Franz.

he'd been sensate the entire time he'd been under Mockery of Death, but you'd closed his eyes and let him take what information he might from what must have seen an endless ascent.

Wew. Those Socials are too tempting to just pick 5. I wanna visit:
  • Wilhelmina on a purely social reason
  • Along with our Fief to see how they are doing and add to our action backlog
  • Empress Heidi, since us being there on her childbirth probably sends some sort of message to everyone else
  • Kassimir to see his 'transformation'
  • Algard because he managed to move it move it
  • Francescco to see if spending an action on the Undmugi is n3cessary
  • And Belegar for his crisis of Faith.

I'm tempted to do a write-in for Panoramia, to apologise for scaring her and unintentionally traumatise her further.

How can we say how interesting he is or is not as a character when we haven't had the chance to see him do anything? This thread disliked and distrusted Johann until we went with him on a rat-punching expedition and now everyone loves him. This thread hated Roswita until we were forced, by narrative exigency, to spend time with her, and then she won a social action last turn, lost getting a second by one vote, and is now taking an early lead.

That's what I mean by rich-get-richer, which is fine for core cast members (I have no objection to spending time with Belegar!), but is a little frustrating for side characters with interesting gimmicks when there are noteworthy people in our home where we don't know their deal, and it becomes harder to get people to support voting to social a character whose deal we don't know over one we do.
