@BoneyM I feel that we haven't heard from the other parts of the Empire for too long. We don't have agents there yes, but surely there are gossips floating around about what's going on out there? Are there any big events that Mathilde's heard about recently?

It is currently nothing but a skull and we plan to use it as a paper weight.

We would notice if it started recovering and it would take a long time. The moment any more bone is grown or flesh starts to forms we just cut off the growth with a knife.

Problem solved.
Or if we get worried about it, toss it to the Priests of Morr. It's their job to HANDLE shit like this.

A suitably ominous wizarding paperweight with dribbly, flickering candle on top. Now we just need a stuffed alligator to hang in the lab.
In fact, here's what we do. We put a hole in the top of a skull for the candle to go into and stick out of.

This way, if it wants to heal we'd know immediately when the candle is either shoved out or chopped in half.

@BoneyM what does kasmir have to say about the Wombo Combo? Anything along the lines of "holy shit that was so cool" or other positive things?

I think they're building up to doing somthing big, possibly several big things but have effectively been on a several year breather since the start of the quest.

Up next the various electors are going to air greviences and extract concessions from each other at the electors meet, and talk about providing support for a campaign to reclaim a dwarf hold in the south, while in the north Ostermark 'might' be gearing up to blast a canal through the south-east of their province, connecting their northern and southern river trade.
This, plus at least one random and possibly unexpected war would essentially make up an average decade for the empire.

When Business Lunch is available (for free) again, I'd like to spend it with Kasmir to chat about that combo, and what he thinks about it working so well together. If he's receptive, float the whole "Was that the Blessing of Sigmar upon Magic?" idea- it would be huge, especially coming from an obviously devout priest.

Averland's occupied with the remnants of a Waagh that swept in from the mountains a couple of years back. Ostermark, as you know, is occupied with the forests around Mordheim. There's tensions between Middenland and Nordland over some stretch of unoccupied forest or another. Ostland is busy dealing with beastmen spilling over the border from Kislev. There's an Elector's Meet in 2477, some dwarves are trying to take back some hold in the middle of the Badlands and have asked the Empire for aid.

In other words, business as usual.

He keeps himself to himself, but he's taken it as an affirmation that it worked at all, let alone as well as it did.

That sounds positive, this might be a small opening to begin to chip away at Sigmarite distrust of magic? Such a seemingly ringing endorsement from the Champion of Humanity, at least when it comes to smiting the enemies of the Empire.

Worth pursuing.

On the subject of the skull, can we have the symbol of sigmar carved on the inside of the thing? Just as a troll if anyone somehow managed to revive the guy.

I'm tempted to choose something like this:

[ ] Additional: Getting To Know You
-[ ] Kasmir
[ ] Tutoring: Abelhelm van Hal
-[ ] Martial
[ ] The Dwarves have crossed into the Empire and joined up with the Empire forces. Perhaps you could spend some time with the general staff as the two of them start to work together.

Talk to Kasmir for the propaganda benefits, talk to Van Hal for consolidating Martial learning, talk to dwarfs for tunnel fighting trainers.

There are a couple of things I'm not sure about with this plan, though. All three can probably only be taken this turn for the benefits we want, but I'm a little less than half willing to use an extra action to get them all. I would likely cut the Dwarfs to remove the Overwork risk, since we can go through an intermediary later. I'm also not sure the benefit of Abelhelm's instruction outweighs the cost of his time during the Purge; we might want to take training alone instead to avoid the chance of being refused. Any other thoughts?

@BoneyM How much of an Article Seven violation (studying forbidden lore) did Mathilde commit when looking at the bound Dhar spells as a prelude to figuring out how to do it with Ulgu?

[X] Plan Exploding Dwarfs
-[X] The Dwarves have crossed into the Empire and joined up with the Empire forces. Perhaps you could spend some time with the general staff as the two of them start to work together.
-[X] Qhaysh Skunkworks: It would take careful study to unlock the secrets of the liquid. It would take considerably less time to find out if it can be made to burn, or explode, or do something militarily useful.

None whatsoever. She didn't manipulate Dhar herself, she didn't cause any to be used or created. All she did was look at it in the course of fighting the enemies of the Empire, and all her experiments afterwards were with Ulgu.

Glad to hear it. I was a little worried, now that we published, that people might start asking how we came up with the Matrix.

Just that training Martial can wait. Usually, we'd get bonuses to a stat training after a full six month turn. We can afford to accumulate more experience with the Dwarves, and probably the Castle assault, before we need to roll to train.

Other thoughts? I'd join plan Train The Watch if I were you. :) I agree Kasmir is important, but we can get a similar freebie business lunch post-purge.

I am very persuaded that Stirland doesn't need another explosive/incindiary that is only available from a single secret source in very very limited quantities (militarily speaking). We have gunpowder, pitch tar, cannon, and so on. There are probably far better things to use it for than making things go boom, not least Enchantment- see the text about forcing winds into objects?

One could, through effort or skill, force the winds into any item, but it is far easier to first make an item a slightly less unnatural home for it.

We might have Liquid Winds. Soaking absorbent objects for fun, profit and Enchantment? Maybe!

Some things I noticed while looking at the vote tally:

[X] The Dwarves have crossed into the Empire and joined up with the Empire forces. Perhaps you could spend some time with the general staff as the two of them start to work together.
-[X] Enquire about arranging for some Tunnel Fighting trainers for the future "War Below" (after the Purge), or at least make some contacts. Not hired right now, we can't afford them.
-[X] Ranalds Blessing
@Alliterate, the vote tally doesn't recognize the Dwarf vote as part of your plan. There needs to be a - in front of the [ , like this:
-[] The Dwarves have crossed into the Empire...

@Dadarian, @SAGrognard, your votes have the same isssue. They are also very similar to Alliterate's plan, but are counted as different votes because of minor differences in how the vote is phrased.

Thanks for this, to @Dadarian and @SAGrognard it's all my fault for tinkering around the edges of my plan and adding other trainer ideas.

I've added the dash and moved the Dwarves first, as they just walked into our tent, so it makes narrative sense and also logical- what if we befriend a Dwarf trainer on a Crit?

-[X] Stirland Watch: Work alongside Jack to administer the Watch. Choose another Organizational Action for the Watch.
--[X] Improve the training of the Watch, hiring trainers and dedicating paid time each week to sharpening skills.
---[X] perhaps an injured Greatsword or officers provide some candidates? And Jack might know some trainers in the arts of avoiding notice. Watchmen who arrived prior to us probably can't read. A formal program of a few old-timer veterans with the right attitude and aptitude being paid to train newcomers. Does Van Hal know a retired Witch Hunter who could pass on some investigation skills? Maybe Julia can suggest an Agent particularly skilled at ferreting out information and sifting useful leads from bad.

There have been many hints that the Watch veterans are angry, so I want to put off the possibility of a revolt. We can afford to set up better training, which might indirectly increase from the Saltpeter formalisation. Gives them a reason to collect urine. Makes good on the promises Jack made on our behalf. Spend an action now, to save many more rebuilding after this resentment explodes.

I'm tying the Dwarves in because it's both Purge-relevant, gives us a chance to make contact with a foreign power, and we want some Tunnel Fighter trainers anyway. Blessing because they're stubborn and we're not that great socially. Not totally married to this, I could be persuaded to change it to Martial training if that's the way the thread goes- but the experience bonuses to Martial training will probably accumulate for three Purge turns at least, and we could learn a lot from the way Dwarves organise in comparison to humans.

Edit edit: I'd actually like to swap the order we do them in, now I think of it.

Also, I don't mind saying I was wrong about the Fight the Singing King action, that whole thing was very cool.

Edit edit edit: included Dwarves missing a dash, and put them first for narrative sense.
