Nice update! I'm surprised that we got silk (at long last!). The description of the Orb Reveal was very funny. This is what I want. Talking to Niedzwenka is always great, and the Druchii characters are fun to read. I also want to know what was the deal behind the Skull River Ambush.

I also want to open the opportunity to share the Liber Mortis, but I don't think the new actions need much justification. :V

Personally I want to delay the Vlag books until we can read Kislevarin, but I won't be fussed about it winning.

[ ] Lord Seilph, the Mystic (NEW)
[ ] Orb Reveal (NEW-ish)
[ ] Silk (NEW)
[ ] Druchii Diplomats
[ ] Niedzwenka
[ ] Skull River Ambush

My picks, in rough order of "I want this". I think Druchii negotiations require a turn action rather than a social.
It's not a negotiation action, it's an action to get to know them. I think we should do it because Laurelorn just recognized Finubar as the righteous Phoenix King, so I want to investigate what they want before going in blind. We did that with House Tindomiel. We won't get much information, but any little bit counts.

No, no, this is awesome. She weaponized her trauma to wield against others. Give her a little more combat experience and an alien shoving tendrils into her brain and she's a Worm OC.
Look away thread, I'm afraid we'll have to put her down. :V

Nordland Tributaries, using Liminal Germination (Asteraceaetena variant) by Jade WIzards and Eonir Mages. Estimated completion date: mid 2492.
The organization tab also had the typo.

I'm curious - how many IRL years has it been since we started WE silk?

Five years, turn 21 October 2019.

"It's silk. It's silk but incredibly durable. It's silk but it doesn't really burn, it just sort of melts. It's silk but it's right here. The second someone manages to teach those spiders the concept of trade, the Silk Road is here. I, it's-" He waves his arms in the air, searching for words. "Barak Varr has been bankrolling this entire Expedition and it's still doing it because it makes a tenth of the silk road safe and if it stays open for maybe three years they'll have turned a profit on it because silk is that ludicrously valuable. Look at this stuff. Silk is done. Silk is like burlap now. Anyone thinking of wearing silk after this is introduced will have mud thrown at them in the street. Those spiders are shitting gold. You take it, you go to Barak Varr, which is possibly the safest goddamn road in the Old World right now, and you've won at economics."

Oops, that's not quite what we wanted. I think we accidentally reinforced Eike's whole background thing.
We probably weren't planning to make here a terrifying assassin either, but wow. Definitely getting vibes of Lord Winder's assassination in Night Watch from that mastery.

Eff locked room murder mysteries, our adorable apprentice can now do crowded party murder mysteries.

Yay new update! I know it's to soon but I know what I'm voting for when it's time

[ ] Lord Seilph, the Mystic (NEW)
The Grey Lord, Lord Seilph, is currently erecting Waystones in Sylvania, and the suspected reason for one of the usually-reclusive Grey Lords to be so far from home is an interest in questionable magics. An interest that one could describe you as sharing. See if there's anything of interest to be found in a very cautious talk on the matter.

[ ] Pan's Treehouse (NEW)
Panoramia has previously been quite happy with her cottage, but when you're a Jade Wizard and you create a mind-bogglingly enormous tree, you can't not build a house in it. Witness how a Druid flexes.

[ ] Orb Reveal (NEW-ish)
The Orbs are made, the books are written, the time is right. You'll show them. You'll show them all.
[ ] Silk (NEW)
At long, long, long last, Francesco has finally figured out how to weave the We-silk into something that can be worn. Be there for its debuts into the various markets it is destined to disrupt, and make sure that one of the first pieces off the loom - or whatever it is they use - will be your silk sheets.
[ ] Karak Vlag books (NEW)
You have recently come into possession of a significant amount of books once owned by the magic users of the Fire Spire and heavily annotated by the Runesmiths Guild of Karak Vlag, two organizations that are now completely destroyed. The amount of lost lore they might contain makes your fingers itch. Set some time aside to read through these tragic remnants from an excised chapter in history.

Probably going to go for these:
[ ] Sarvoi
[ ] Lord Seilph, the Mystic (NEW)
[ ] Pan's Treehouse (NEW)
[ ] Wissenland
[ ] Reading on Nehekhara
[ ] Orb Reveal (NEW-ish)
[ ] Silk (NEW)
[ ] Karak Vlag books (NEW)

Warhammer Fantasy: Divided Loyalties - an Advisor's Quest Fantasy - Users' Choice!

Seven. Years. For seven years the mystery of the liquid pouring from your box of mirrors has itched at the back of your mind. There was always some new battle to fight or skill to learn or enemy to study, and it kept being nudged off your list of priorities. Well, no more. You've cleared your...

So this turn our profit from the EIC was 250 crowns. Now that the magic swamp road is done and silk is finally ready, I wonder if that share is gonna go up a decent chunk next turn.
Probably really high. Max may be dramatic, but he didn't overstate things back when he did the initial silk-investigating action: getting silk means we can win at economics.

Huh, that's actually a good point. Having silk come online at the same time as the magic trade route is the sort of coincidence nobody will believe Mathilde didn't plan. Not that she would ever do anything but smugly hint that she did plan it.

...Incidentally, what are people's bets on the external social action this turn? My bet is on House Fanpatar approaching us on our compensation regarding the mist-bridge.

Actually will we need to prod the EIC into expanding towards laurelorn?
It's already listed.
Major Trade Route: Eastern spices from Karak Eight Peaks to Tor Lithanel
Major Trade Route: The Schadenweg, from Middenheim to Tor Lithanel via the Schadensumpf
Minor Trade Route: Western spices from Altdorf to Tor Lithanel
Minor Trade Route: Charcoal from Erengrad to Tor Lithanel via Hargendorf.

You finalize the schematics, get a series of quotes from organ-builders for how much they'd cost to build as both a limited run and in bulk, and tuck it all away for further attention once you have a solid plan for what to do with it.
I suppose that building and transporting thousands of instruments made out of special materials is a bit beyond petty cash.
The EIC might be able to do the work, but more likely we will need to liaise with either the Colleges or the Emperor's stewardship counsellor.

In any case, she adds an eyebrow-raising five new spells to her repertoire in rapid succession.
We may have underestimated the power creep of our apprentice.

"Moving magical energies through someone else's soul is a whole other field of study," Sarvoi points out, "and one that is often poorly looked upon." Elrisse gives him a very searching look.
The fact that it is an acknowledged field of study, and is merely 'poorly looked upon' rather than as a reason for fire and pitchforks, would probably greatly disturb many in the Empire. Wizard, priest and noble alike.

"We've got the eggs, we've put them in the basket, but the basket isn't getting where they need to go. Is that a reasonable summary of where we're at?" You see winces, and you see bitten tongues to prevent nit-picking of where your crude metaphor doesn't exactly line up with magical minutiae, but you also see hesitant nods.
Given the years of cooperation between the various archetypes in the project all the members must be very practised at translating metaphor and minutia from what the speaker understands into something they can understand.

"We'll investigate whether we can before we worry about whether we should," you decide.
Can I read the Liber Mortis? Demonstrably I can.
Should I have read the Liber Mortis? ...still under investigation.

As always it is a delight to see magical scientists and engineers discussing how they are going to disassemble the latest bit of troublesome metaphysics.

It seems tragically common that many people don't understand how valuable the academic environment is until they leave it. Eike might be one such person, as upon her return to the premises of the Grey College, she begins to soak up magical knowledge at a rate far beyond what she showed the capacity of before. Perhaps she's grown in her understanding of Ulgu under your tutelage, perhaps she better understands the value of what she has the opportunity to learn now that she's been out in the wider world. In any case, she adds an eyebrow-raising five new spells to her repertoire in rapid succession.
Wow, Eike knocked it out of the park! Good for her.

As such, what could very easily have been something the Eonir did in their half of the province and could have been argued was an entirely Eonir innovation, became something impossible to describe as anything but a partnership between College Wizards and Eonir Mages, as Jade Wizards walk Mages five times their age through how not to treat each tree as an individual to be scrupulously catered to. The opportunity to work with the Eonir Mages as equals means that this is something the Jade Order becomes very interested in pursuing themselves, rather than something you need to organize through them, and so you simply hand the matter over to their custody and let them flood the province with every Jade Wizard that can shake free a month or two to explore Laurelorn and glean whatever insight they can.
It's nice for the Colleges to get a chance to strut their stuff a bit.

As for the social actions we've got 5 must-haves which makes for an easy vote:
[ ] Lord Seilph, the Mystic (NEW)
[ ] Pan's Treehouse (NEW)
[ ] Orb Reveal (NEW-ish)
[ ] Silk (NEW)
[ ] Karak Vlag books (NEW)

I'll throw a vote to the Nehekhara books too, though I'll be surprised if they get in:
[ ] Reading on Nehekhara

Alright, go on, then, everyone else is offering opinions...

[ ] Orb Reveal (NEW-ish)
Orbs. The culmination of years of study, both IC and OOC, bringing to fruition one of the earliest projects of the quest. How could we not?

[ ] Silk (NEW)
Silk. The culmination of years of waiting, both IC and OOC, bringing to fruition one of the earliest projects of the quest. How could we not?

[ ] Pan's Treehouse (NEW)
What kind of friend and partner would Mathilde be if she only cared about her own flexing and didn't support the flexing of those dearest to her? A hypocritical kind, that's what! Plus, of course - Pan.

[ ] Karak Vlag books (NEW)
This is potentially groundbreaking stuff that no wizard has had access to for centuries. Least urgent of everything here but potentially of enormous consequence.

[ ] Lord Seilph, the Mystic (NEW)
A lot of things competed for this last slot but... Well, Sylvania is arguably Mathilde's oldest triumph. Even leaving aside the significance of the person involved, it would be nice to talk to someone building upon that legacy.

I don't have words right now to give a proper post but this was lovely to see. Mathilde dropping into the campiest of dramatics as it's finally ready is great. Also slightly concerning for the state of her sanity, but she's been sitting on the research for over a decade, going a little dramatic at the big reveal is to be expected.

It is finally time! At long last we can reveal Atheric Vitae to the world!

Oh shit the silk's finally ready?
Pretty much my reaction, with all the implied double take to boot.

My only regret is that there are too many shinies to grab them all~
