This is intentional, if more people want Anton to marry someone else than Mathilde, that's what will happen, even if they disagree on who.

He can definitely dispel, you can't be a magister that unskilled, which means he valued his little ruse more that the dwarf lives he could have saved using more advanced magics. Someone's about to get some very grumpy dwarfs after him, though it's probably not grudge-worthy since he did help some

Keep in mind that Anton is a feudal (or whatever you would call the empire's system) lord, and as such expected to have an heir & spare, at least. Does Mathilde seem like the child-rearing type?

This mountain range has been the site of Goblins and Skaven for centuries. There's likely more things hiding in the shadows than you can shake a stick at.
Also, as court wizard we can have fingers in many pies and help out where it's needed.

Reinhild to consolidate the 'no' vote, but I actually do think Wilhelmina is the right call. There's clear mutual respect there, and frankly- it doesn't matter how benign the EIC's monopolies are now if they're in bad hands. We can remain a check on things, but we need to come up with a long term solution here because we can't guarantee this won't eventually turn into a cancer on the province.
As for saying no to Mathilde marrying him. It just feels too unequal on our end. Either we up-end our plans and move into his barony, or we incredibly long distance commute and are unavailable to Anton for long periods of time. There's too much we can't share with him in terms of information, too little to necessarily understand what we do and the risks of it, and just it seems like our lifestyle would be unfair to our significant other unless we can make them part of it in someway. And with Anton that seems like it might be hard.
