I'd like to go with Belegar- it's just that, in my experience voters in general are bad at foreign relations and not the best at personal relations. Considering how heavily being a foreign facing spymaster (combined with the fact it seems like it would be interacting with other Dwarf Holds), I'm a bit skeptical.

No doubt this has been discussed before, but is there any way of enchanting a belt or some such that it can be used to cast shadowsteed? I dunno if it would be worth the time, but it is a very useful item for others, if so.

It's more challenging to create some sort of totally-not-a-pokeball of horse summon than it would be to create a bridle of permanent horse, but it is possible. Be aware, however, that Mathilde's mastery won't carry over to the enchantment, because it's not just part of the spell, it's also part of how her own magic and body reacts to the spell.

Anything that isn't returning to stirland.

Right, might as well approval vote for everything I want

Because King Belegar is worth it.

My secondmain goal, magical phenomena and writings away!

[X] There's a lot of prime real estate currently unclaimed. Stake out a prime position for a wizard's tower.
Ideally I would actually like an inverted wizard's tower that stretches deep into the earth, but I am not sure if that's something that's actually achieveable.

[X] All this time away has made you miss your friends. Visit Anton and Wilhelmina.
Yes! Go back to Stirland and talk with all of our old friends again. Anton, Wilhemina, Abelheim, that Ranald priest whose name I always forget. Maybe we'll even figure out what on Earth Sigmar did to Kasmir to get him back in the fold.

Funny thing is, I don't think Roswita will actually have a problem with our presence. She didn't want us in our court, but she isn't going to chase off every single wizard in Stirland.

So speaking of AU Quests, can you imagine how the Greenskin Karak 8 Peaks quests went. Since from their perspective all of this has happened within a single turn and is probably because they dumped their intrigue stat or skipped anti-spy actions for countering the expedition since they never expected the Dwarves to have a Grey Wizard like Mathilde.
Nah, they just rolled like four Nat 1's in a few updates.

This was their loss of Abel, in terms of sheer concentrated and strategically place bad luck.

Need a proper tower for science.

@BoneyM, Remember when we suggested to make Warhammer Fantasy's version of XCOM in the early days with OG Count Van Hal? That could be an Endgame goal when she becomes Head of the Grey Order in a decade or two. Other than that we could try to make something similar to that Total War: Warhammer Matilde DLC omake as an template.

"It's just Belegar, he'll camp out in the Citadel and get whomped by Skaven for fifty years."

This is why you don't metagame.

Remember the idea about making a tavern (totally not a temple of Ranald) where all the mercenaries can rest, find the group and a quest?
That's what I want to do. Mathilde being a spymaster/point of contact for humans/a coordination point for adventurers/local chosen of Ranald.

With plenty of research into gribblies, skaven nonsense and other artifacts, plenty of good fights, of course...but I really really want this tavern, honestly.
...Hold the fuck mothering phone. We are a Master Wizard. We have a greatsword we can hang places. We'd have a tavern. Would...would we become the retired 20th level adventurer tavernkeeper who still keeps around her greatsword to beat up rowdy murderhobo PCs? :o

These for me. I want to catch up with research, start setting up things for our Ranaldan aspirations/merchant ambitions plus Karaz-a-karak. The last one just sounds like a really cool scene.

Hmmm, on thinking about it thought...

Mathilde's first notable actions for the Expedition.

It was in carrying lots of messages from King Belegar.

As in: people's experience with Mathilde, from outside of the expedition, was that of her riding around and carrying messages. And so... This option would sort of build up on that.

Though, I'm not sure what it would build up to or about. And I'm also... not sure if I want the pressure and responsibility of managing diplomacy and intrigue for foreign relations. I mean, sneaking about in battle or in mountains, or doing research... that's all stuff that you'd be doing by yourself, more or less. It's just you versus the enemy, or versus your studying. This? This would involve reaching out to other people and to the rest of the world. It depends so much on how other people react. Blargh.

On the other hand, I do want to round out and improve Mathilde's diplomatic chops. (On the other hand, picking a diplo/intrigue focused choice, which would depend on your intrigue and (average) diplomacy just so that you can improve your diplomacy, feels a bit... eh. "Picking something you're not awesome at it, and upon which a lot of things might be riding on, for the sole purpose of improving yourself... while handling potentially important matters." Eh.) (On the other other hand, this does say Spymaster.) (But also says foreign relations.) (And it'd be a Wizard doing it. Dwarfs, and humans too even, don't terribly much like Wizards.)

Gah.

I wanna reconnect with the outside world; to get a finger on the pulse of what is going on.

I wanna reconnect with the Colleges, to get an update on various magic stuff, and intrigue and spy stuff.

But that's a matter of "wanting to learn about this, so that if there are opportunities (or dangers) you can take them or avoid them." Wanting to not miss out, or wanting to avoid shit hitting fan. You know?

But what I want to do, is... Either go further into our magics (whether as a battlefield wizard, or a spy wizard) or into researching and learning all the stuff we have to work with. To better and improve ourselves. (That's part of one reason one would want to improve the Diplomacy, btw; because it means improving yourself. There's a tangible feel and sense of "I've gotten better. I've made progress, improved." from doing so.) Or just... Something that would increase Mathilde's standing in the Colleges of Magic, and among her peers. Basically... "Stuff that makes you be seen as a prestigious wizard."

If memory serves, there's 3 land-routes to Cathay; Death Pass, where we are, Peak Pass, up by Karak Kadrin, and another pass, way up in Kislev.
Did not know that. And of course, K8P is also the linchpin of the trade route to Karak Azul and their weaponsmiths.

Seems interesting, though we'd sadly waste time trying to stomp out the worship of Sigmar.

Still, every other option, barring returning to Stirland, also seems interesting.

Poor Orc quest. "So your piety Councillor died, and his successor, and his successor, and his successor and his successor. Also your entire army imploded. Game over I guess!" *flips table*
Nah we didn't hit Quest Over levels yet, since there are still Greenskins in the mountains. So rather it would be the equivalent of half the playerbase's plans going up in smoke including the big Piety project they've been working on for so long.

I'm way more interested in Belegar's "Retake the Karak 8 Peaks" quest, where they're nat 100 random event roll netted them a Master Grey Wizard who then proceeded to round them up another load of reinforcements and then assassinate the enemy leaders multiple times, stop a major greenskin plot, and of course totally pulled the rug out from under the Greenskins multiple times.

We're their hero unit they want to recruit because "Oh boy a great trustworthy Intrigue character! We're gonna need her for fighting the Rats." well that and our luck lol. "She did what. What do you mean she mugged Mork + Gork!? That's awesome."
